AP: “HOUSE CONDEMNS MOVEON.ORG’S PETRAEUS AD”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 26, 2007

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Wednesday overwhelmingly voted to condemn the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org for a recent advertisement attacking the top U.S. general in Iraq.

By a 341-79 vote, the House passed a resolution praising the patriotism Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, and condemning a MoveOn.org ad that referred to Petraeus as 'General Betray Us.'

The liberal group's full-page ad appeared earlier this month in The New York Times and has served as a rallying point for Republicans. President Bush called the ad 'disgusting' and criticized Democrats such as Sen. Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the party's nomination, for being afraid of irritating the group." Source: Associated Press, September 26, 2007

Congressman Ellison was only member of House of Representatives from Minnesota to vote against the resolution condemning MoveOn.org's ad.

This vote further isolates Al Franken and Mike Ciresi.

We already knew Keith Hakim X bin Ellison is an anti-American piece of shit who loves anti-Semites and terrorists. He and Al Franken are a fine couple.

    Helpful Chestnut, helpful.

So Al has now officially accused 74% of the Senate, along with a whopping 81% of the House of “wasting their time” with a “ridiculous” resolution of support for the commander of US forces in Iraq.

Keep that in mind the next time Al tells you he’s for bipartisan cooperation.

“resolution of support for the commander of US forces in Iraq.”

That’s a key phrase Surly. Al Franken doesn’t support the commander of US forces in Iraq. For that matter, he doesn’t support the soldiers in Iraq…

Keep that in mind next time Al Franken or any other MoveOn.org member lies to your face about “supporting the troops.”

    Update to my previous post.

Al Franken is now on record as accusing 48% of Senate DEMOCRATS and 65% of House DEMOCRATS of wasting their time by showing support for the commander of US forces in Iraq.

And this guy thinks he’s the mainstream of the Minnesota DFL?

Why is it all of George Bush’s Republican base, have such a potty mouth. I am a liberal and proud of it. I will visit this site several times a day hoping to get some information about what the right is thinking. I am always amazed at the comments here. Obviously, you do not know the issues and can only defend your position with your filthy mouth!

  7. Surly Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 5:11 PM

62% of Congressional DEMOCRATS voted for resolutions in support of the commander of US forces in Iraq.

Al Franken thinks they were wasting their time on a ridiculous exercise.

Al Franken. Mainstream Democrat in touch with Minnesota values.

(let me take this one Chestnut)

    Really Rosie,

Are you really that rosie, or is it just your palm?

  9. Chestnut Says:

    LOL… good one Surly.

    Democrats: Dishonest, anti-American assholes.

That Al and Keith Hakim X bin Ellison and Al Franken have expressed their hate for the commanding officer of our forces in Iraq underscores my point earlier, that keeping this story alive serves Norm Coleman well:

“… right now, in the period preceding the February primaries (in 4 months), it all serves two objectives, both favor Norm:

    1) It energizes the Republican base around Norm, who’s doing the right thing by standing up to the radical and reckless agenda pushed by Al Franken and MoveOn.org.

    2) It puts the focus on Al Franken, leaving other DFL candidates in the shadows, and his role backing a reckless, radical, socialist attack machine… the same people who vote in the DFL primary. Al’s their guy.

This works to ensure Al’s DFL endorsement (read: Norm’s preferred opponent)… Al is the weakest DFL candidate in the race: he’s bitter, stupid and divisive. He’s done nothing in or for Minnesotans in his lifetime. He has no record of accomplishment of any kind.”

  11. Surly Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 6:19 PM

(From the “Meet Al” section of Franken’s own campaign website)

“He was especially inspired by two candidates he met on the campaign trail: Tim Walz, a high school geography teacher whose relentless energy propelled him to an upset victory over a Republican incumbent in the 1st Congressional District (Al stole his “boots” line from Tim); and Amy Klobuchar, whose strong positive message of change helped her follow in the footsteps of Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, and Paul Wellstone as she was elected to the United States Senate.”

Both Walz and Klobuchar voted FOR resolutions in support of the US commander in Iraq.

Al Franken thinks they were wasting their time by voting for such a ridiculous show of support.

Al Franken. Mainstream voice for the DFL.

  12. Surly Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 7:15 PM

    (More from Franken’s own website)

    “Here’s where I stand:

I say it’s time to leave Iraq. Our troops have served magnificently, but even General Petraeus has stated that military action alone cannot fix Iraq.”

So General Petraeus is a trusted source whose opinion should be valued when if you think it bolsters your desire to abandon Iraq to Al Qaeda, but the minute it looks like he might actually be accomplishing what he set out to do – he’s a liar and a traitor.

Al Franken. Openly insulting 62% of his OWN PARTY’s repesentatives by claiming they waste their time by ridiculously voicing support for the US commander in Iraq.

  13. Voted for Mondale Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 7:52 PM

This is really quite silly. It’s an old but apparently still effective tactic to pick something the fringe of your opposition says and then dare the mainstream opposition to repudiate it. It just gives the extreme right wing the podium and the centrist ajority seems to bite every time. Good for Al Franken and shame on the Democratic (and democratic) majority for falling for this sleazy old tactic.

It would be like the Democrats calling on the GOP to repudiate the remarks of extreme nut cases like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly -the right wingnuts are not that bright – but you never would bite on one of those challenges.

“It’s an old but apparently still effective tactic to pick something the fringe of your opposition says and then dare the mainstream opposition to repudiate it.”

Walz and Klobuchar repudiated it. Franken agreed with it. Thanks for confirming that Franken is far removed from the mainstream.

  15. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 8:00 PM

MoveOn.org is seemingly a fringe group. However, it has unbelievable power over the Democrat party. This suggests that while only the most extreme America-haters join the organization, mainstream Corruptocrats agree with the organization.

It would be interesting break down Senate Democrats who voted to condemn the ad by their term. My guess is no Democrat up for election in 2008 voted for the Amendment. Again, they either agree with the despicable statements by the Democrat base, or they are afraid of standing up to them.

By the way Mondale (I can’t believe you admit you voted for that ass), Ann Coulter can be a bit toxic… Rush too… but Bill O’Reilly is someone you hate because he knows more than you do.

… and when Ann or Rush do say something extreme, Republicans automatically repudiate it.

Democrats rally around the pro-Al Queda socialists… because that is their base.

Shame on you and the rest of the Anti-American Democrats for siding with the baseless, disgusting attacks on a man like General Petreaus.

  16. Surly Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 8:50 PM

“the centrist (m)ajority seems to bite every time. Good for Al Franken and shame on the Democratic (and democratic) majority for falling for this sleazy old tactic.”

So it’s your opinion that only the centrist majority falls for such sleazy tactics as voicing their support for the commander of US forces in Iraq? Fair enough.

Thanks again for affirming that Al Franken is nowhere near the centrist majority. And keep congratulating yourself for being above such sleazy old things as supporting the troops and their commander.

  17. Annaheim Says:
    September 26th, 2007 at 8:55 PM

I just can’t wait until Al gets 42% of the vote. Man will that be a great day for progressive candidates.

Listen to the audio, it’s his own words.

  22. Chestnut Says:

You are fucking stupid Cleveland. Listen to the whole audio you mindless turd.

Not the self-selected shit the liars and traitors at Media Matters feed you.

“It would be like the Democrats calling on the GOP to repudiate the remarks of extreme nut cases like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly -the right wingnuts are not that bright – but you never would bite on one of those challenges.”

Coulter and Limbaugh are not elected officials, nor are they running for office. They have no influence over your life that you cannot control by turning a knob or pushing a button.

Not that I expected a guy whose proud of having voted for Mondale to catch a fine detail like that.

    Pffft.
