“ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS”: POGEMILLER LOSES TEMPER ON MPR’S MIDDAY
By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 3, 2007
Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller lost his temper today on MPR's Midday after listening to remarks by Gov. Pawlenty's "media guy" Brian McClung.
Pogemiller claimed that McClung's comments were "absolutely outrageous" and demanded an apology from Gov. Pawlenty.
Here's the transcript of Sen. Pogemiller's remarks about McClung's comments [note: to get the full effect, listen to the audio and turn it all the way up]:
"That…that is outrageous. That is outrageous. That is absolutely outrageous for him to say that. Keep in mind. This is not a policy maker. This is not an elected person, this Mr. McClung. He's the Governor's spokesperson. He's a…he's a media guy…and for him to have these kinds of inaccuracies is appalling. If he's truly speaking for the governor then I think an apology is in order, because for Mr. McClung to say that our committees departed drawing down these reserves like that is outrageous. In addition Mr. McClung might want to read the law. I believe the law says that the department does not have to tell us what the design is before they sign the contract. It doesn't say they can't, if they don't want to…and so to hide behind that and now say you're gonna sign a two or three hundred million dollar contract without letting anybody see what the bridge looks like. I gotta tell you it is breathtaking to sit here live and listen to the governor's spokesperson say things like that, is absolutely breathtaking. "
What's truly "appalling" and "outrageous" is that the DFL is calling for another special session so they can authorize MNDOT to rebuild the bridge despite the fact that Speaker Kelliher admitted to dismissing a request by Pawlenty staffers to remedy this during last month's special session.

Poor pogy, someone should remind him to breath in his nose and out through his mouth.
October 3rd, 2007 at 4:01 pm
It’s pretty clear that McClung was in over his head… where was the Governor?

The Pawlenty-Molnau Administration continues to be a dramatic failure in the area of transportation.
October 3rd, 2007 at 4:16 pm
Bwahahaha!!! You guy loses it and you want to try and tell me what trouble Pawlenty is in.
Sometimes I wish I had the drugs you people take.
Lokel, we have had road issues for far more years than Pawlenty, you know as well as I do that is it our local DFL who starved the the transpotation department so they could fund mass transit.
October 3rd, 2007 at 5:04 pm
Fuck Pogemiller.
October 3rd, 2007 at 5:16 pm
As a right-leaning moderate, I agree that the current administration has not done a great job with transporation. I would have said the same thing before Aug 1. To say that the DFL starved roads for LRT is wrong. At least 95% of the transporation budget has always been devoted to roads and bridges, even during the LRT build-out.

Is Larry on drugs again? If he is he ought to tell us so we know.

JT,
Where do the feds get their transit money? Out of the federal gas tax. Robbing roads to pay for transit.
The new state MVST dedication will do the same, with a 40% floor for transit.
Stop the spin, please.
October 3rd, 2007 at 6:08 pm
It’s obvious that the DFL funds transit at the expense of roads in order to appease the people that vote for them. With the DFL it isn’t about doing what is or right or what makes sense, it’s about what gets them power.
We are in dire need for a serious investment in roads and the DFL continues to piss money away on trains. When a problem with the roads comes up the DFL immediately claims they need to raise taxes to pay for it. If they wanted to do the right thing they would take that train money and out it into roads.
Or maybe less money on bike trails, Mr. Oberstar.

I wonder if NPR has a spittle shield they rely on while interviewing moonbats.
October 3rd, 2007 at 9:58 pm
I listened to that interview. Does anyone else think that Pogemiller sounded like a woman and Kelliher sounded like a guy?
It’s a toss-up between Pogemiller and Senator Murphy as to who sounds more like a pouting, whining 5 year old.
My apologies to all the 5 year olds reading this.
I consider myself a moderate, and I am embarrassed for the leadership in the house and senate. They ran around after the session – at least in my local newspapers – bragging that they got their work done on time. Apparently they did not get their work done at all if the DFL leaders keep begging for a special session.

Lokel Yokel,
You’re either severly uninformed or you’re not telling the truth. The truth is that 2006 was the biggest road and bridge construction year in Minnesota history. 2005 was the second biggest road and bridge construction year in Minnesota history. And 2004 was the third biggest road and bridge construction year in Minnesota history. The Ventura administration took a hundred million a year out of transportation and built the train to nowhere.

Pogemiller is such a whiny little beyotch.
I’m glad McClung slapped him around.

“Where do the feds get their transit money? Out of the federal gas tax. Robbing roads to pay for transit.”
-The Feds always set a certain amount aside for transit, so if the money was not spent here it would have been spent in some other city.
“It’s obvious that the DFL funds transit at the expense of roads in order to appease the people that vote for them.”
-This argument is baloney, are you saying Minneapolis would vote Republican if they didn’t have LRT?
Not to mention that nearly all the suburbs strongly support getting LRT or commuter rail into their areas. Are you agruing that the DFL controls all the suburbs? Damn, you guys have really fallen on hard times haven’t you!
October 4th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Freddy can you provied your link that shows suburbs want LRT?
The bus lines work just fine, no LRT needed.
And yes you asshat, the DFL has been ear marking and playing games to get the funds from roads over to transit and have been doing so for years.
There should be no doubt in anyones mind that the bridge incident is 100% owned by the local DFL and their want of transit over roads.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:34 am
Larry is doing the Hokie Pogie again. He personally made sure that the buffer language was taken out of the disaster relief bill before the closing bell of the last Special Session. That was language that would allow MNDOT to facilitate funding between now and th etime that Oberstar finally gets the money released from DC. Oberstar and Larry are in cahoots on this complete scam. This is all calculated nonsense courtesy of Larry, ObieWan and Steve.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:35 am
It’s clear that MnDOT headed by “asshat #1″ bears major responsibility for the collapse by their lack of oversight and lack of action.
Nearly all transit money allocated from the state has come from the general fund and not the transportation fund. We have also had 2 Governors who are not Democrats support major transit projects.
Your argument is hollow.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:45 am
Freddy,
Lack of action??? Can you explain this outrageous accusation?
The Pawlenty-Molnau administration has funded three record years in a row of road and bridge projects. If that isn’t action, I don’t know what is.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:52 am
Lack of action my MnDOT in failing to act on recommendations to repair the bridge. If you have read the paper in the last month or so, you might have heard of it, but I understand that if it’s not on FOX News you might have missed it.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:28 am
Looks like Larry did not get in his weekly visit to the Gay 90’s for a little fun time, he’s a little edgy.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:33 am
Freddy you asshat, do you know how many years that bridge has been on the warning list? My guess is you haven’t a clue. It is the local DFL legislators who have been pushing the funding for transit over roads. We are the only major city with only two lanes around the the major metro area. This has all been done on purpose by our very liberal local DFL’ers and their attempts to stop urban sprawl.
The DFL has held the purse strings for many, many years and the blame sits squarely with them 100%!!
Freddy, let me know when you actually can prove any of the drivel that comes out of you.
Now go lay by your dish!
October 4th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
Hey,maybe Poegy and Stevey Murphy can have a mutual “TAKE YOUR WHINER TO WORK DAY !”
October 4th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
How can you tell Larry Pogemiller is lying ?
HE’S STANDING IN A ROOM WITH OTHER PEOPLE !
October 4th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
Big Kahuna,
You sure like to hand out asshats, too bad the real asshat army is in your own party. You need better insults, asshat is too close to Foghat, which probably would be a bigger insult.
DFL legislators have been pushing both transit and roads (as have some Republicans). They passed a package that included increasing funding for both areas, only to have it vetoed repeatedly by the Governor. The transit money that has been approved has come by and large by the general fund and has been approved by two non-DFL governors.
As for the DFL holding the pursestrings I suggest you look at the last time the DFL held the Governors office. You have to do a little better then that.
October 4th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
DFLers have been obstructing road and bridge work for years. Who are you kidding.
The bill DFLiars passed raised taxes $5 Billion and had almost nothing to do with roads and bridges. It was a suck off to the socialist special interests, nothing more.
BTW — in all the lynch mob hysteria of the DFL around Monalou, no one bothers to realize that the last two seasons saw more road construction and improvement initiatives than had taken place in the previous 5 years combined. … maybe that’s because by appointing the LT. Governor to oversee MnDOT, transportation issues, for the first time had a direct line to the governor’s office. Pawlenty made it a priority.
October 4th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Who really is the biggest Asshat?
1. Larry “the looter” Pogemiller
2. Margaret “the bus” Anderson-Kelliher
3. Phyllis “I never saw a tax I didn’t like” Kahn
4. Andy “I’m dumber than a brick” Welti
Watch the FOX 9 Investigators as they go undercover to explore just who is the biggest MN DFL Asshat!
October 4th, 2007 at 11:28 pm
Nope, Trishy did her crack journalism years back collected beer bottles from the garbage…
Thanks to her bright light and her stewardship from Sviggy we learned that Republicans never ever touch a drop of alcohol. We even got a tour of State Office Building fridges… it was fascinating!
October 5th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
So the Republicans attending the convention in Minnesota in 2008 won’t use light rail? They’ll take the diesel bus or limos instead?
I’ll betcha at least 3 ‘Progressives’ among them take the LRT to the airport to check out the ‘Larry Craig Restroom.’
