COLEMAN: “IT’S DIFFICULT TO COMPETE WITH THE CHECKBOOKS OF THE HOLLYWOOD ELITE”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 5, 2007

"But thriftier spending allowed Coleman, a Minnesota Republican, to end the period with twice as much cash on hand — nearly $5 million for Coleman compared with $2.45 million for Franken. At the end of the previous reporting period, on June 30, Coleman had just under $4 million while Franken has just under $2 million.

Coleman's campaign said it had spent around $700,000 in the latest reporting period. Franken's campaign spent roughly double that.

Democratic candidate Mike Ciresi said he would be releasing his numbers next week. The filing deadline is Oct. 15.

On a call with reporters, Coleman said he wasn't surprised that Franken has out-raised him for two consecutive quarters.

'He's got two things that are way in his favor,' Coleman said. 'There's a lot of money in Hollywood, and he also has these massive lists from liberal interest groups, which I'm sure he's working.'

Coleman said that Franken appears to be "burning money at a very high rate, which tells me that he's telemarketing."

Franken spokesman Andy Barr said the campaign raises money from a number of sources, including direct mail and grassroots fundraising on the phone.

Coleman harped on the Hollywood connections of Franken, a former 'Saturday Night Live' star who has raised some money from TV and movie celebrities.

'It's difficult to compete with the checkbooks of the Hollywood elite, and it's difficult to compete with someone who has the ability to tap into mailing lists of liberal interest groups,' he said." Source: Associated Press, October 5, 2007

Do Al Franken’s “Minnesota donors” include all those who had to fill out information in order to buy a “Franken” button for $2 at the State Fair and perhaps elsewhere?

    Why yes they do. :)

After all he is claiming they we donation by minnesotans.

That is why Al’s handlers give out percentages of his donors and not the amount of money from his MN donors. He would have a hard time explaining why about 5% of his money is from people of MN. :)

But who’s married to the “Hollywood Elite,” Mike?

Big Kahuna, Every time you say something you have “a little throw up” coming out of your mouth.

Wow lef, seems like you are jealous because republicans have gorgeous spouses, and the libs have spouses that make people run to get some eye bleach.

    hehehe Honeydog….so true

AS beautiful as Ann Coulter is, why isn’t she married if Republicans have such “gorgeous wives”??

Or is it once she opens her mouth, she isn’t that beautiful anymore.

  11. Honeydog Says:
    October 6th, 2007 at 6:39 PM

kathy, that probably is her choice. Not everybody wants to get married.

And lets face it, your side is physically ugly with ugly temprements to match. Just take a good look at Rosie O’Hippo.

Dude, if you go South and look at the Republican hicks down there, shit, they are ugly with missing teeth. We aint got shit on them. (using improper grammar can feel really good sometimes)

oh, and Franken does use telemarketing I think. And there are huge binders full of rich liberal elites in LA/SF and NYC. The MN binder pales in comparison.

  13. Honeydog Says:
    October 8th, 2007 at 6:17 AM

Andrew, I lived down south for awhile. Trust me, those hicks are democrats. The ugly missing teeth people are looking for all the handouts and freebees the democrats give them……..at the expense of those of us who actually work.

Kathy I tried!! I met Ann once and yes, she is a very good looking woman. Tall, thin and very smart, I wish I could have scored that one. :)

Which of course is part of the hate the left has for her. :) You do not see too many attractive or smart liberal women. :)
