"Republicans gloated that while Franken burned more than $1 million in the second quarter, a recent Minnesota Poll gave him only a 27 percent favorable rating, compared to 52 percent for Coleman, who faces his first reelection test next year.
'All the money in the world can't obscure the fact that Al Franken's extreme, out of control and vicious attack politics are wrong for Minnesota,' said Minnesota GOP chairman Ron Carey." Source: Star Tribune, October 4, 2007

Wow, this is really surprising. Al is running against someone and Norm isn’t and he has spent more money! If the Ciresi doesn’t make it, a whole bunch of other people will vote for Al, too—or do you think the Ciresi supporters will go for Norm??!!
