PAULSEN FOR CONGRESS ANNOUNCES HIRING OF CAMPAIGN STAFF
By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 15, 2007
I received this update on Friday evening.
###
State Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-Eden Prairie) announced today that two staff members will join his campaign committee as he prepares his candidacy for Minnesota’s Third District congressional seat.
Veteran Republican fundraising operative Lee Birkhold will serve as chief fundraiser. She oversaw the House Republican Campaign Committee’s fundraising efforts when it raised over $3 million in the 2005-06 election cycle. She worked for Minnesota House Republicans during the time when Paulsen served as Majority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives. (Birkhold will continue to do work for the Senate Republican Campaign Committee.)
Josi Cecchini will work as field representative. She is a former field representative for the House Republican Campaign Committee and is active in Minnesota College Republicans.

I've met Lee Birkhold on numerous occasions and she is a top-notch fundraiser - this is a great hire by Paulsen's campaign. I continue to hear that Paulsen is building an impressive campaign organization.

One of them is Lee Birkhold, who will be Paulsen’s Chief fundraiser and who ran the Minnesota House Republican’s fundraising efforts last cycle. During her time with the House Republican Campaign Committee, the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board cited the HRCC for making an illegal contribution to Austin Blees, failed candidate for the seat of Mary Ellen Otremba. Very lame posting on MNpublius. Lee is an excellent hire for Erik and knows how to raise money. He is putting together an incredibly strong team.

What is the implied connection here by MNpublius supposed to be? Does he think the fundraiser makes decisions about spending?
The Finance and Political operations are two seperate functions within campaign organizations with different people making decisions about how the money is coming in and where the money is going out.
Is MMpublius implying that Lee was calling the shots in both? How silly and ignorant.
