if we did not have to pay prevailing unuin wages on construction projects there would be more than enough money. because the unions have a strangle hold on the DFLiars we are forced to over pay the laborers. Driving up costs. The DDFLairs are playing politics...as the yare with SCHIP (has anyone ever heard of SCHIP before a month ago?) Children are the last refuge of scoundrels

Nugent you fucking liar!!!

The DFL has been offering pork projects all over the transpotation bills. They do that on purpose and then try to act like it was all for roads and cannot understand why the Gov vetoed it.

Nice try but it is FACT roads and bridges have been passed over for many years. The DFL plays games of "earmarks" so they can act like there is nothing they can do about funding for more roads.

I love Pawlenty, he has had more major roads projects happen under him than any other Gov for many, many years!! If we had a liberal in office we would NOT have the extra lanes we have now around the metro and even what we have is not enough.

Transit does work in some areas and it is absolutly the worst idea in others. What pisses me off and you will not admit is that we HAVE bus routes now that take you to the same place as the light rail. Did they bother to shut down the bus lines?? NO..... We spend more and more on transit that does not help with traffic congestion and also needs to be susidised by the local government because we all know no one is willing to pay what it actually costs to ride the train or bus.

Our local DFL is 100% to blame for the massive traffic jams we have now and the transit they offer will do nothing to help with that traffic.

The whole thing is a shell game the DFL has been playing and they are VERY worried that the public may catch on to what they have done and lay the blame where it honestly belongs - the DFL and their cronies.

Nugent too bad you just do not live in the real world and understand what you have been lead to believe is not correct.

I would guess since you inow SO much about what the democRats offered, would you like to let us all know how much of those bills were going to go to ROADS. :) I think you will find major pork spending again for mass transit. Same pile of shit, just a different foot.

Kahuna,

Everyone here knows that the DFL has offered comprehensive transportation packages that our Governor has vetoed again and again.

Do you honestly believe that a metro area of nearly 3 million with another million on the way in the next 20 years does not need transit!?!!? If you do your not too bright and haven't traveled too much around the country.

We need money for both roads/bridges and transit. Your argument for choking roads for transit is absurd and anyone outside of the 1280 crowd realizes that.

What the bridge collapse has done is refocus our attention on transportation funding and competency of MnDOT, but of which are issues are Governor has ignored.

Did you see that tripe Oberstar got published in the Red Star? Talk about fuzzy math. And he can scream all he wants about funds for transportation, but most of that money is earmarked and can only be spent on a specific project..........like the unneeded bike trails in northern Minnesota.

I am going to look through the political garbage and ask for a reason for why all 5 DFL'ers are holding this up. There is certainly a good reason. Just not sure what it could be.

Nugent the least they could do is pay what it actually costs to ride that posh bus. :)

Everyone here knows that it is our local DFL who is to blame for all of this. They have fought any additional lanes or bridge work for many years now. They want to choke the system down so we are forced to use transit.

Really no different than what the right does to try and starve government so you have a chance to shrink it.

The left has just been hoping nothing like this would happen to shift focus back to roads and bridges.

Drew, you know as well as I that NO DFL'er will ever hold back a transit project over roads or bridges.

Drew,

If getting the bridge done quick was your goal, why do you support MnDOT going with the bid that took the longest (and the most money)!

MnDOT is a frickin' joke and I don't trust the clown car leadership over there to do much of anything right.

There's only one predictable outcome. The DFL wants a special session to once again try to exact a do-over from last years DFL lead legislative debacle. This time its for bridge funding that Oberstar and Pogemiller have conspired to withold.

The good news is that the general public is beginning to see through their tactics.
