VIDEO OF BONOFF ANNOUNCEMENT GAFFEATHON; ASIA AND EUROPE ARE “COUNTRIES”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 5, 2007
According to State Senator Terri Bonoff, Asia and Europe are “countries”, not continents. Please watch the video clip above for more Bonoffisms.
Bonoff sure doesn’t sound like she is ready for prime time.
An email sent to Bonoff’s campaign asking if Bonoff had been informed since her press conference ended that Asia and Europe were in fact continents and not “countries” as she claimed today had not been returned before this post was published.

Wow, this is pretty embarassing.
Should be a fun campaign to watch her commit gaffe after gaffe….
November 5th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Not that it matters, but still you’d think
a speech of this importance would be one she’d practice.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
Ouch. Stumbled big time on Day One. I see the DFL is truely using its A team.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:20 pm
The sad thing is that she was speaking like this at a high school.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:26 pm
I havent watched the video yet (im at a library) but just based off of the title and the post, I think that’s a pretty petty thing to point out. Clearly they are continents, continents is a very similar word to countries, people mix up words like that all the time you wince and move on, not write a blog post about it.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
A person representing the state of MN in Washington DC should not be making those kinds of mistakes period. Watch the vidoeo and tell me you want her representing you on the United States foreign relations committee - thats really what is at stake.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:42 pm
TRUM: Great point.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
no such thing as pettiness in politics….except when it comes to who Coleman endorses for POTUS …right Mnpoobliar?
November 5th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
I agree…this is a total embarassment. She has no business running in the 3rd CD.
She should run for president. With her mastery of the language she has proved to be fully qualified. One should never “misunderestimate” a politician based on their use of English.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Dear Michael–
So, uh… hey buddy– how about those MN Senate poll numbers?
Oh, I see, in their stead you put up a stupid, stupid post on… this?
I’ll remind you Mike, a guy who you voted for twice couldn’t name the President of Pakistan when he was running for President of the United States.
Now, I’m sure as you watch the President of Pakistan declare a state of Emergency, you feel like a real idiot for voting for Bush twice– maybe, is this the reason why you’re holding Terri Bonoff to a higher standard?

Sean, who can remember all those Muslim names anyway..they all sound the same, Bonoff is clearly not ready…she is an utter moron… I would have voted for GWB a 3rd time, unless Ron Paul would get nominated..go think up some more drivel to post at Mnpoobliar
November 5th, 2007 at 9:19 pm
They did the same thing to Paulsen.
I really hope people see this fraud for the, well, fraud that she is. All she does is rely on being a female, hoping it will make you ignore the fact that she’s a raving mad liberal. Totally out of touch with the third district.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Sean — love your petty comments. You need to wake the ‘f up. We know you’re very “busy” with school — why don’t you report on the major screw up by Ritchie?
November 5th, 2007 at 9:27 pm
I heard Bonoff often burst out in tears during her race against Judy Johnson….someone called her out on the attacks by the DFL…and also called her out about her kids and their friends who were stealing and defacing yard signs.
And Terri cried and cried over this. She needs to get her act together if she really wants to make a run for Congress — or “State Representative,” as she says in this video.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:34 pm
Well, with a fool such as this, Paulsen shouldn’t have any problem keeping the 3rd in the Republican column. He won’t even have to open his mouth. All he will have to do is count the number of times she puts her foot in her own mouth.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
What an airhead– part and parcel for her reputation- excellent, excellent- this makes me feel much better about the race.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
Bonoff is the vice chair of the Senate E-12 Education Budget Division. Guess they don’t do a lot of geography in that committee.
November 5th, 2007 at 11:14 pm
The gaffes on diction are bad, but chalk-up-able to a nervious start. The tone was worse. Oh shock. Another DFL angry scold. If 1980 was Morning in America, 2008 is going to be Mourning in Minnesota. Yipee.
November 5th, 2007 at 11:29 pm
If she is running for Paulsen’s State Rep seat, someone from Emily’s list should tell her to at least move into the district. With a ditz like that running, we are no doubt going to be calling Erik Paulsen Congressman. No wonder it took Bonoff so long to announce, she had to write her amazing Bonoff introductory speech and practice it until she screwed it up. Wow! It does not get much worse than that.

The House of Representative?
Standing before you as a Minnesota State Senate?
What’s up with dropping off the plurals. Is she looking for street cred?
November 6th, 2007 at 9:10 am
More proof: Steve Simon would have been an infinitely more competent and winnable candidate than this creature.
November 6th, 2007 at 9:11 am
Wait a minute. After wathcing this video, there is one question I have.
Is our children learning?
November 6th, 2007 at 9:20 am
After watching this speech I hope someone is calling Steve Simon asking him to reconsider his decision not to run.

[...] This video of State Senator Terri Bonoff referring to Asia and Europe as “countries” and not continents is becoming increasingly popular and my post has produced a flurry of interesting comments. [...]

I hate to pile on, but this is too much! Sure President Bush might butcher a word from time to time, but this speech was peppered with factual and grammatical errors. She is certainly lacking the eloquence and sharpness of a serious candidate for CONGRESS. I am still busting a gut over the remark about being a state senate.
Can all of yor hear that sound? Oh yes, it is Rep. Simon in the background kicking himself. In my estimation, he is definitely more polished, astute, and up to the task for a fight against Paulsen.
November 6th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
Well, she also keeps referring to her notes. She must have “countries” written down.
She should have had her kids that stole lawn signs proofread her speech.
November 6th, 2007 at 3:58 pm
More proof that Education Minnesota has the highest quality output.
November 7th, 2007 at 9:01 am
She is like Bridget Jones at the Mike-
I keep sending this to people I know and laughing.
“You people”
November 7th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
You know what? I don’t know Terri Bonoff from Adam, but I know that if this is all you’ve got, she seems like a fairly viable candidate. I mean, if this is the worst you can dig up, she’s worth looking into further. The level of discourse here is so silly; you want me to think this woman’s a ditz, but I don’t actually know anything about her. Your ad hominem, then, makes me seek more. Funny, that.
November 7th, 2007 at 4:14 pm
I know Terri Bonoff, she has won two campaigns where I live in district 43. You can call her names if that is all you have, but she will probably win. Sure, she was nervous announcing a campaign for national office, but is that enough of a reason to be so mean spirited? The campaign will be won or lost on issues, not name calling. Bush can’t even pronounce the word nuclear. No matter what you want to believe, it is a two syllable word. Nu-clear. Terri has won two campaigns so far. I suggest you name callers out there start considering the policy issues that will make the difference in CD3 because the kindergarten thing doesn’t work out here.

[...] "Dems had been doing better at that in recent years realizing how it put them at a competitive disadvantage. I'm hearing other DFLers are getting into the race because there's a bit of uneasiness about Bonoff. She has great credentials and a solid resume. But in this new media world, one has to wonder if Minnesota Democrats Exposed video of her missteps at her campaign announcement have hurt her. I know a lot of MSM don't want to give bloggers that credit and power, but they're not to be overlooked. I've got to say to me Bonoff has been professional and pretty impressive, but this video does not look good." Source: TPT's Mary Lahammer, November 14, 2007 [...]

I am pretty confident that Terri Bonoff understands that Asia and Europe are continents, not countries. I wish I had the same confidence in George Bush’s depth of understanding.
