BREAKING NEWS: REPRESENTATIVE KOHLS SENDS LETTER TO SOS RITCHIE REGARDING ALLEGATIONS PEOPLE TRACKING PASSAGE OF “SAFE AT HOME†LEGISLATION RECEIVED FUNDRAISING SOLICITATIONS FROM HIS CAMPAIGN
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 6, 2007
Representative Paul Kohls sent a letter to Secretary of State Ritchie requesting information regarding allegations that representatives of various constituency groups communicating with Ritchie's official office regarding passage of legislation the "Safe at Home" program have been receiving campaign updates from Ritchie's campaign.
From the letter:
"Given the seriousness of the allegations, I request that you provide me with written responses to these questions by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. If I do not hear from you by that time, I will be asking Representative Mullery, the Chair of the House Public Safety and Civil Justice Committee to schedule a hearing to further investigate this matter." This just keeps getting deeper and deeper. Keep up the good work MDE. This would not have been as big of a story without you!

At least this lawmaker gave a deadline. Maybe that will get Ritchie to respond. If he keeps ignoring letters with deadlines that might move the Democrats or the media which are covering for Ritchie.

Thanks for continuing to push this story MDE. Without your work this story would never have come to light.

Another letter for the trash bin. If you want to file a compliant do so, but this kind of junk is pure political theater.
On the other hand we have a bridge selection process which is screaming out for an investigation! Most people couldn’t give a rat’s ass if they receive a fundraising letter, but they do care if corrupt MnDOT contracts are costing the taxpayers tens of millions!
November 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Oh Dan. Complaints have been filed, but they’re being ignored. Are you always this clueless, or has the wind blown the last remnants of your brains out your ears?
November 6th, 2007 at 2:54 pm
Well Dan, I and others don’t support Ritchie, and we don’t want him filling his campaign fund using our office.
This is compounded by the fact that he’s then supposed to turn around and fairly administer elections in a state that remains very very close.
This is further compounded by the fact that this guy ran an entire campaign against this sort of unethical, and potentially illegal behavior.
So I don’t give a rat’s ass if it doesn’t bother you that Ritchie is apparently abusing the power bestowed upon him by the populous. A lot of us do.
And it seems like every time his official (taxpayer funded) office gets its mitts on another list, his campaign solicits them for money.
Is it a shake down? Is it a breach of privacy? Is he using the lists for other political purposes?
All he has to do is be honest with us. All he has to do is answer these questions.
His silence is very telling, and it gives the appearance of serious guilt.

we have a bridge selection process which is screaming out for an investigation!
It’s been investigated. Twice. But, thanks for playing, moron.
“On Oct. 8, the state Department of Administration issued its determination on the protest and recommended that MnDOT proceed with Flatiron.”
and later
“A judge on Wednesday Oct 31, rejected a request for a restraining order that would have stopped work on the new Interstate 35W bridge”

Oh, this must be something like when I wrote to Norm Coleman and complained about his stand on legislation. What do you know, I now receive emails from his campaign asking for campaign contributions! Lets start an investigation quick!
November 7th, 2007 at 9:00 am
Come on Levi. I’ve sent emails to both Coleman and Amy K. I don’t receive email solitications from either. I do receive mail requests from Norm since I’m on Republican lists.
Levi three points you need to be focused on:
One, Mark Ritchie pledge to run his office in a non-partisian manner. Which means when two lawmakers send a letter their party label shouldn’t matter. They should get a quick response. They didn’t! Shows he lied.
Two, if you go to Mark Ritchie’s campaign website he has four promises. The fourth promise is in effect to run the SOS in a faithful way. This until it is explain isn’t a faithful way.
And three, this is until it is explained misuse of public data let alone possibly confidential data for political purposes. I could get fired if I misuse public data on stuff that the state said can be purchased! Since Ritchie doesn’t want to respond can you offer a logical explanation for how email addresses are showing up for people who have said they have never expressed any interest in giving money to Mark Ritchie in the campaign for Mark Ritchie?

Hey Levi…you can also claim the moon is made of green cheese, but that don’t make that lie true either. No proof means you are a fraud, just like Ritchie Rich.

“His silence is very telling, and it gives the appearance of serious guilt.”
If that is true then MnDOT must be running a dungeon.
November 7th, 2007 at 12:18 pm
I got one of the e-mails too.
November 7th, 2007 at 2:27 pm
hey Flugaur I assume you’re claiming Coleman sent you an email. Go ahead and complain! FEC, Democrat blog sites, Al Franken, etc. I’m sure Norm will be more responsive than slowpoke Ritchie has been on this.

Mike did ritchie respect the deadline to this letter or did he ignore. It’s one thing getting a letter, but ignoring a letter with a deadline!

Paul Kohls is my representative and I like him a lot. He does not do political fluff or write letters just to get attention. Paul cares about doing a good job.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
It sounds like he is. My comment has basically been Ritchie seemed to ignore one letter. This letter had a time deadline. It seems like since we haven’t had an update Ritchie has ignored this letter also!
