MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “WHERE DOES WALZ REALLY STAND ON IMPEACHMENT OF VP?”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 7, 2007

"After masquerading as an 'independent leader,' Tim Walz has been a rubber stamp for national liberals and is now telling the far-left fringe he supports the impeachment of the Vice President.  It’'s time for Walz to stop doing the bidding of the far-left extreme and start representing the mainstream values of southern Minnesotans." – Ron Carey, Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman

Walz Votes One Way On Impeachment Resolution Against VP On House Floor:

"The Democrats then offered their own motions to send the resolution to committee, effectively killing it, and prevailed on a mostly party-line vote of 218-194, with Walz voting to kill it…"  (Edward Felker, "On Impeachment, Kline 'Sides' With Kucinich, Walz Shuns," Post Bulletin Website, Posted November 6, 2007)

Meanwhile…  Walz Assures Radical Impeach For Peace Group He Supports Articles Of Impeachment Against VP:

"I also mentioned to him [John Conyers] that I had a conversation with a Minnesota Representative, Tim Walz, who was in exactly that position, representing a traditionally conservative area that had narrowly elected him. In our conversation on impeachment, Rep. Walz had stated that though he wouldn't sign on to H. Res 333, he would support articles of impeachment should they come to the floor. I suggested that this might be a far more widespread stance than he would expect." (Jennifer Umolac, "Rep's Conyers/Ellison/Waters Discuss Impeachment," Impeach For Peace Website, Posted November 5, 2007)

Okay folks this is how this 1st district seat is so important? If you can get 218 votes for something you can pass it. Right now Nancy has about 235 votes. She can in effect if she can make sure she gets 218 votes give passes to 17 members not to cast a vote or to vote with the Republicans to look moderate. We get a real conservative in the first district Nancy loses one of her safety votes forcing some vulernable rep to cast votes he or she doesn’t want to cast.

Even better with some good results nationwide we get control of the house back.

Good luck on getting control of the House back. See Kentucky for how the GOP can expect to do.

    TRUE PATRIOTS vote impeachment!!!

  3. walter hanson Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 3:44 PM

those true patriots didn’t vote for impeachment in 1999 when it was justfied Mark! And Kentucky shows Republicans when they have scandals are held accountable. Democrats since they don’t have standards don’t have to worry about being accountable apparently ask Richard Jefferson and his $100,000 freezer.

  4. Big Kahuna Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 4:07 PM

Yes Mark we can see what is important to the democrats! Partisian games rather than actually getting anything done. ;)

The democRats may be in some trouble for 2008. :)

  5. Chestnut Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 4:44 PM

Good point Walter… also look to New Jersey, where more than a dozen Democrats were arrested about one month ago on bribery, extortion and theft charges. All of the accusations are backed by extensive video and physical evidence… yet the Democrats gained a seat yesterday there.

Dumb Fucking Liars (and thieves): DFL

  6. Chestnut Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 4:45 PM

Walz is nothing more than Pelosi’s purse poodle. He’s a goddam disgrace of a human. Another spineless lying jerk of a Democrat…. too damn chicken to go on record about his and his supporters crackpot theories about the war.

    What a cowardly liar.

  7. DJ Danielson Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 4:54 PM

    Michael,

How can being in favor of sending such an important resolution as impeachment through the traditional channels (Judiciary Committee) be automatically interpreted as “waffling” or whatever it is you are trying to accuse Walz of doing on this issue?

  8. ImpeccableLiberalCredentials Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 5:11 PM

I am surprised and grateful for John Kline’s vote not to table the impeachment resolution, and to fully air and eventually prosecute the crimes of Dick Cheney.

I am glad that we all hold the U.S. Constitution more dear than our petty partisan identities…

  9. walter hanson Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 6:06 PM

Maybe ImpeccableLiberal should read the Star Tribune story (not exactly a conservative newspaper)it creates the impression that the Democrat leadership doesn’t want this to have to be dealt with so sending it to committee was to kill it, but even though they have an overwhelming majority they need over an hour to get to 218 votes to send this to committee instead of voting on it. Apparently if this was voted on the floor immediately Tim Walz would’ve been in a minority voting for impeachment (or did he lie to somebody).

    Walter Hanson
    Minneapolis, MN

  10. Gary Gross Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 6:13 PM

As I said here, this is Ms. Pelosi’s worst nightmare. I think that TWalz’s vote guarantees him a difficult path to re-election. In fact, I think he’s toast.

  11. Dave of the VRWC Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 8:47 PM

I want a vote. Let’s see where the Democrats stand. They bitch bitch bitch, but then don’t do anything. Surely they aren’t all talk an no bite?

  12. Rochester Republican Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 11:03 PM

Yeah, this would be brilliant – lets have Congress waste months trying to accomplish something that will not get done. Just like my own beloved party did in 1999…over a damn blowjob.

Our own party abandoned us with irresponsible spending and overt corruption. This administration has racked up over $450 billion in supplemental spending in Iraq only to de-stabilize the region and leave us with a nightmare my grandchildren will be dealing with and a debt their grandchildren will still be paying. And as if we haven’t outsourced enough, China owns a large amount of our debt — How is this Republican?

On top of all of this, the “brilliant” GOP members outside of the 1st CD think any of these four knuckleheads has a snowballs chance of getting elected in this district.

We are going to be stuck with Walz until 2010 at best. You offer up a pathetic school board member, a back bench state representative whose idea of fiscal conservative is taking per diem for days he is attending an NRCC school in DC and is piling up campaign debt faster than Walz piles up PAC money, a Mayo doc whose fundraising totals are as bad as the State Rep (unless you count loans to himself) and whose colleagues prefer to contribute to his opponent, and a State Senator who is too illeterate to operate a computer…

I guess I would focus my money on a district that we could win…

  13. Walter Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 11:25 PM

Hey Rochester Republican you sound more like a left wing Democrat not a Repbulican. The surge is working and the only reason Bush had to attack was because Clinton ignored the problem of Bin Laden during his eight years to allow them build up their bases not to mention allow Saddam Hussein try to build his weapons.

    Walter Hanson
    Minneapolis, MN

  14. Andrew Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 11:39 PM

I think Rochester Republican recognizes that Walz’s opponents aren’t doing too well. Their fundraising totals are pretty anemic. You guys really could make a race out of this but your candidates aren’t that great.

Walz voting for impeachment, way too liberal of a move for his district. This is an attack ad waiting to happen.

I’d love to see them all impeached but I know it’s a waste time and would advocate not bothering.

  15. Rochester Republican Says:
    November 7th, 2007 at 11:43 PM

Shining example of what is wrong with this party — too many neo-cons. Bring back the real Republican party.

So anyone who disagrees is a “left-wing democrat?”

Obviously the neo-con propaganda machine worked. Saddam did not have WMD. Saddam did not work with Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda did not control Iraq until we invaded that country.

Lets stick to the facts. Al Qaeda, an islamic terrorist group, based in Afghanistan, attacked the US. We declared a war on them, and bombed the cave dwellers back a century or so. Then, rather than hunting and killing the leaders of Al Qaeda and the Taliban, we pulled out and sent our troops to Iraq to chase shadows and become sitting ducks. In the meantime, the Taliban and Al Qaeda crawled out of their caves and have, in effect, retaken most of the country. How has this accomplished anything?

Clinton launched missles to try to kill Bin Laden, Bush chased him into the hills, then went to kill Saddam. Neither move accomplished anything.

Where is the fiscal responsibility in the above plan? How is that Republican? And how does calling a spade a spade make me a left-wing nutjob?

Calling out four stuffed shirts as being worthless candidates does not make me a democrat. It makes me a realist. Bring us a live one, a warm body with a pulse and I will get behind it. Otherwise, I will hold my breath and wait for 2010. Of course, John Wade could still change his mind and run — I would support him.

  16. Jon Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 12:06 AM

Anyone want to bet? I will give someone a 5 point spread that Walz mops the floor with any GOP candidate.

I also will give a $500,000 spread on fundraising.

    Anyone, $20?

    Let me know!

  17. walter hanson Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 9:08 AM

I opened a little firestorm here:

One, the candidate doesn’t have to out raise Walz he has to raise enough (about a million to be competitive). That is doable.

Two, it will be a whole lot easier in this state if we had a bunch of Michelle Bachman’s and Klines running around, but one of these people might surprise us.

Three, the line I jumped on with Rochester Republican is the line about wasting money. It sounds like a line that Walz will give (hopefully in private) to the left wing groups who support him and have lots of energy.

Four, corroption. Are you talking about Jefferson’s $100,000 in his freezer, Polisi giving exemptions to the minimum wage for two major campaign donors, Reed’s land deal, those are Democrats. That’s real corruption.

The trouble is the stuff that Rochester Republican is complaining about are standard Democrat campaign lines.

    Walter Hanson
    Minneapolis, MN

  18. Chestnut Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 9:38 AM

Democrats tabled the amendment for one reason, and it wasn’t because they wanted to “get things done.”

The tabled it (effectively killing it) because they have no interest in going on record on the issue. They’d rather enable their idiot liberal base to continue leveling ridiculous charges and advancing lunatic conspiracy theories…. they also don’t want to go on record to the majority of Americans.

If they oppose it on the record, their base will kill them. If they support it on the record, the majority will recognize what a bunch of lunatic assholes the Democrat party is made of.

  19. walter hanson Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 10:03 AM

the trouble with the lunny base is they thought there were no grounds for Clinton to be impeached so when there is so much overwhelming evidence Bush should already be impeached and in jail (and maybe if they make an excemption on the death penalty killed)

    Walter Hanson

  20. kathy Says:

Rochester Republican brings up very good points.

AS for John Wade, I know John and he is a stand up guy. He was in opposotion as to how the Rochester 19 were treated by the new owners of the Holiday Inn Express, where the RCoC leases their Office, last December. At least he saw the value of hard work, dedication, only to be fired because they were Union. The suits filed on the workers behalf with the National Labor Relations Board found the new owners in serious violation of Descrinination and Labor Laws. The Chamber and City were in solidarity with these workers.

There was once a time where the differences between a Republican and Democrat were not all that far apart. A long time ago, a true Republican stood for Social Justice, Equal protection under the law, honored and respected the Constitution, a Strong National Defense, prosperity for Americans with jobs that stayed in the US, Fair Trade with conditions, and so on.

What has become of the GOP since the Reagan Administration is the attitude..”We have ours, the rest of the country can go to hell in a handbasket.” The Economy flourished during the Reagan and Clinton years despite higher tax rates for the Million and Billionaires.

Then the era of the Neo Cons as Rochester Republican states. The debacle in Iraq will be paid for by my Children, their children, and further down the generational line. Have the losses for the GOP in 2004 and 2006 at the State and National Levels taught them nothing???

As for a possible race in 2010 between Walz and Wade, that will be a race to watch. Both men respect one another and worked together on the Rochester 19 incident. They both understand the value of hard work, family, a strong economy, as well as a transparent Government that works for the people.

Let us not forget the Bush war cries regarding Iran!!! The first asn American bomb falls there, this country can kiss its Voluntary Military goodbye.

And now with Pakistan bordering on a possible internal desinigration due to Martial Law instituted by Musharraf, the Islamic Extremists and the supporters of Bhutto will be clashing. This is another voliatile area. Bush cannot afford to lose Pakistan, let alone send American Troops if need be.

What a fine mess Bush and Company have gotten all of us into.

China, as RR opines, does have its hands in our Economy. One word from China to pay back, with Interest, ALL the money borrowed to us, and the American Economy as we know it, will cease to exist. This would make the Great Depression look like Child’s Play.

  22. walter hanson Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 11:26 AM

    Hey kathy:

Bush has had to cleanup this fellow’s Clinton messes!!!!! You know allowing North Korea to build nuclear weapons! Selling or letting the Chinese steal technology to become a threat. Talking tough, but doing no action on Saddam. Oh lets not forgot all the times he was offered Bin Laden (he has been caught on tape saying he had the offer) or refusing to authorize the missions that can kill Bin Laden.

The person(s) you want to blame are the Clinton(s) not the current President!

And it’s not a waste of money so Bin Laden and his fellow terrorists are busy fighting for their lifes so they don’t come to America to blowup places like the Mayo Clinic.

and Kathy maybe we have to spend so much money because the New York Times to help protect us poor Americans keep telling the terrorists all the tools we use to track them. Maybe we wouldn’t have to spend so much money if the Times hadn’t published any of their badly needed stories. That isn’t Bush either.

So Kathy apologize the man who is cleaning up the mess so you can sit safely at a computer and complain about him.

Kathy if I remember right you’re a big Amy K supporter which means you’re a democrat not a republican.

  23. kathy Says:

    Sorry Walter.

Going into Aghanistan was the right thing to do. Iraq!! No!!

You are not upset with me, you are upset with Rochester Republican for telling the truth of what the Republican Party has become of late.

  24. walter hanson Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 12:06 PM

you and Rochester Republican are muttering the same lines about billions on war, both oppose Iraq, you and Rochester Republican seem like the same person.

What has me upset about Rochester Republican is she talks about wanting to win the seat, but she uses the Democrats talking lines. When given a choice between the real Democrat and a Republican talking like a Democrat the people side with the real Democrat. I’m just trying to get her to talk about Republican issues to win and to make an effort to win.

And Kathy don’t you agree we will have less trouble today if that fellow Clinton took custody of Bin Laden or killed him with all the chances he had.

    Walter Hanson
    Minneapolis, MN

  25. kathy Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 12:23 PM

When the head of a snake is cut off, Walter, the tail still rattles. Clinton screwed up, yes!!

Had Bin Laden been killed when the opportunity was there, more would have come in his place. You and I know this. It’s also like teeth of a shark.

  26. kathy Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 12:25 PM

I bear no realation to Rochester Republican. I am my own person.

  27. ImpeccableLiberalCredentials Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 12:39 PM

So Rochester Republicans, and other true conservatives in the 1st CD are on board with impeaching Cheney?

Do they prefer Kline’s vote to impeach (not to table the resolution) or Ramstad’s vote to let the crimes of Cheney go unpunished?

  28. Chestnut Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 1:37 PM

So, kathy… what’s the difference now. You’re bitching that bin Laden is still free, yet you note that if he’s killed, more will come along to replace him…

Kind of a strange set of logic. That said, you’re in love with that loser Tim Walz…

  29. Chestnut Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 1:38 PM

Cheney has committed no crimes. None.

I would have loved to see that bullshit resolution move forward though. Democrats are shitting their pants at the idea of going on record on the issue.

Advancing the resolution would shine a light on that den of cowards, and illuminate what a bunch of insane crack-pots comprise the Democrat party.

  30. kathy Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 2:50 PM

You forget bin Laden’s #2 guy is still on the loose, Chesty. My logic is not off. There are more Islamists ready and willing to take up the fight to remove the Infidels from wherever they may be. I recall you making that statement many times on this blog. So I am repeating you.

  31. Rochester Republican Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 6:33 PM

I beleive my original point is trying to impeach Cheney would be as assinine as our move to impeach three dollar Bill for getting a BJ. This neo-con administration will be gone in a year. The same held true in 1999.

This Congress, both Republican and Dem can accomplish something, but only if they all get over this partisan BS that the UFO seeing elf is trying to push.

As a veteran, I am concerned with seeing the VA fully funded to the levels that the independent budget requests. We have added more than 700,000 new veterans to the system and decreased the budget under the Republican led Congress. I look at my brothers who are both suffering with various disabilities following their tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and am willing to pay more in taxes if I must to insure that this country lives up to the promise it makes to these kids before we send them to the sandbox.

If that makes me a dem, then maybe I should switch parties.

That $450 Billion we are wasting in Iraq would go a long way towards helping the vets we seem so unwilling to assist.

I would never say that Cheney has committed no crimes. I would say that he has not been indicted for or convicted of any crimes. We have all done something against the law.

  32. Chestnut Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 6:37 PM

Kathy, all I was saying that if, as you say, if bin Laden had been killed then a dozen more would step in to his place, why bitch because bin Laden was not killed.

You’re probably right that more Islamic Facsists would step up… Your logic of bitching that those Islamic Fascists haven’t had the chance step up is a bad thing, as usual, is completely fucked up.

Go Walz… down the toilet… worthless purse poodle, that he is.

  35. walter Hanson Says:

Oh Boy did I not read a lot of silly thoughts:

    * To liberal. Based on the Star Tribune story it seemed like there was an effort by the Republicans to force an immediate vote. The Democrat leadership killed that. They sent it to committee to die. Thus in your world the people who opposed it going to committee were your heroes. So Kline and Walz were voting against impeachment.

Even if the committee continues Pelosi fearing it will cost her seats won’t let it reach the floor. Your problem is Pelosi!!!!!

    * To Rochester Republican if you think it’s a waste of time to have impeached Bill Clinton I hope you never have to be invovled in a legal case where somebody can think they can lie and break the law to win if they are somebody important. There is no case against Cheney since there is a female Senator from New York who independently researched the evidence and agreed with President Bush. Can we impeach somebody before they might get elected president of the united states if you want to go by that standard. If you think it’s assine to impeach Cheney and you want Walz out of office the attitude is go ahead and let them do impeachment to force Walz to keep his promise to support impeachment.

I’ll have to try to research it, but I thought the Republicans continusouly increased veteran spending.

    * Kathy Bin Laden had already targeted the World Trade Center Once. Getting him out of the way might have saved the lifes of everybody who died on 9-11 or isn’t that important enough to you to show why it was important to get Bin Laden. I also never said you were related you just were sounding the same tune.

    Hope that clarifies things.

  36. Chestnut Says:

Kathy thinks it’s a waste of time to kill Bin Laden because other Islamic Fascists will spring up to replace him, and that its terrible that Bush didn’t kill Bin Laden.

She’s a dumb as it gets.

  37. kathy Says:
    November 8th, 2007 at 8:19 PM

Thank you for the History Lesson, Walter. I am fully aware of bin Laden’s activities in 1993 and thereafter.

You are very correct, Walter. Had bin Laden been apprehended when there was the chance to do so, 9-11 and the bombing of the USS Cole would have been averted. That he is still at large poses challanges not for just the US, but those countries who are allied in eradicating his brand of fanaticism/terrorism from within their borders.

Though the Taliban is resurging in Afghanistan with Al Qaeda’s help, things are still shaky as for stabilizing the country. Pakistan is on shaky ground right now, being that they too have Nuculear capabilities that could fall into the wrong hands. Careful Diplomacy is needed to keep Pakistan in this battle.
