Bob Kerrey On Iraq: The Record
Kerrey sponsored the "Iraq Liberation Act." "Compounding the awkwardness for Lieberman was the other big issue of the fall-Iraq. Over the past decade, there has been no greater hawk on Iraq than Lieberman. If anything, he has been to the right of President Bush on the issue. Lieberman has long called for an American military effort to oust Saddam Hussein, with or without the support of the United Nations. In 1998, along with Senators McCain, Trent Lott, and Bob Kerrey, he sponsored the Iraq Liberation Act, which stated that it ‘should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq.'" Kerrey Served As Member Of Committee For The Liberation Of Iraq. “With the administration's blessing, a new group is forming to press the case in the United States and Europe for ejecting Hussein from power. Called the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, the organization is modeled on a successful lobbying campaign to expand the NATO alliance. Members include former secretary of state George P.
