MN GOP CHAIRMAN RON CAREY: “AL FRANKEN’S TACTICS WON’T WORK IN U.S. SENATE”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 16, 2007

"During a recent campaign stop in Albert Lea, DFL Senate candidate Al Franken explained why being a 'satirist' represented 'good training' for the U.S. Senate. 'Having been a satirist is good training on how to look at things. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone who can see through all the inconsistencies and get to the truth,' Franken told the Tribune.

Over the years, 'satirist' Franken has made a number of observations in his search for the 'truth,' including the following:Former Secretary of State James Baker is a 'lying scumbag.'

'Republican politicians' are 'shameless (expletive deleted).' Former Attorney General John Ashcroft is 'something of a nutcase.'

'(Expletive deleted) idiots' think President Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of the 20th Century.

And on and on it goes. In books, speeches and in radio and television appearances, Franken has made a career out of making vicious and mean-spirited negative personal attacks. Franken has even ridiculed World War II veteran Bob Dole over his war wounds by likening him to the one-armed murderer in the movie 'The Fugitive.'" Source: Albert Lea Tribune, November 16, 2007

From a Democratic aspect, his training to “see through all the inconsistencies and get to the truth” didn’t do him much good for the Iraq War, he fell for that shit hard just like everyone else here did.

When are the DFL candidates for US Senate going to debate? At some point shouldn’t we see some actual debate on issues and not just speeches.

Ron with all due respect the biggest thing that has led to the Republican disaster you refer to is Republicans behaving like Democrats. Two models for this are Tim Pawlenty otherwise known as Mike Hatch Jr. and the retiring Jim R. from the third Congressional District.

Walter–get a life. Anyone who praises Rush Limbaugh is a LOSER…Rush Limbaugh IS a Big Fat Idiot who took on the role as a dumb/shallow/gossipy thinker. He thinks for those even dumber than him…I know Republicans who get all their politics from Rush…no wonder there are so many of the GOP walking around looking confused and the only thoughts that come into their pointed heads are: “duh-hate the Clintons…duh-hate taxes-DO NOT invest in America…duh-I got mine so pull the ladder up on everyone else…duh-create more wedge issues…duh-hate all people who don’t look like me…duh-if the GOP screwed something up, blame it on the Liberals…duh-don’t let on that you are a yellow belly…duh-let’s keep kissing the asses of our rich friends ’cause maybe someday they’ll let us join their club…duh-love those cheap prices @ WalMart-ignore child labor…duh-if I say the Dems are going to take your guns away, then believe it ’cause I’m a big fat idiot WHO is paid to spread lies over the air waves..aren’t I special now that other idiots tune into my show daily? Duh–say it, I’m special ’cause other idiots like me listen to me…easy money to spread lies…LOSER-that’s me, but I’m rich now–keep tuning in…
