DID SECRETARY OF STATE RITCHIE’S OFFICE LIE TO LEGISLATORS WHO REQUESTED INFORMATION ABOUT ALLEGATIONS? I SAY YES! #2
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 21, 2007
I believe Secretary of State Ritchie's office lied to legislators who requested information about allegations that Ritchie may have used his official office to fund his political machine.
The letter from Ritchie's official office to Representative Brod and Emmer was signed by Bert Black, a legal advisor in the Office of the Secretary of State.
I spoke with Kent Kaiser, who worked in the communications office for Secretary of State Ritchie and his predecessor, Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer. Kaiser stated that Bert Black is man of integrity and that he wouldn't knowingly provide misleading or false statements to anyone, including legislators.
But Kaiser admitted that Bert's answer to the question asked by Representative Brod and Emmer about "[w]ho entered the data into the Mark Ritchie campaign database?" "doesn't square with what's being reported in the newspaper."
Kaiser added that Black's answer to Representative Brod and Emmer's question must have been based on faulty information provided to by Ritchie or a designated representative. The fault for the lie lies with Ritchie.

A lawyers conduct can only be as good as his client’s. Like at the poor lawyer who was defending President Clinton in the sexual harrassment lawsuit. He introduced a phony affidavit arranged by President Clinton because he was counting on the President saying that the affidavit was true and correct. We learned the story about that affidavit. This is a similar case Black’s letter are lies and misleading because he was giving lies and misleading information when he conducted his own investigation. Ritchie should resign just to save this man’s honor and reputation.
