THE LIST OF LIES IN THE GROWING SCANDAL INVOLVING SECRETARY OF STATE MARK RITCHIE #2

By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 23, 2007

Gary Gross at Let Freedom Ring Blog believes he found another lie told by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie in the growing scandal surrounding allegations that Ritchie used his official office to fund his political machine.

I agree with Gary, so my previous list of five has increased by one:

#6. Secretary of State Ritchie lied when he told the Star Tribune his e-mail of October 22, 2007 only solicited contributions to pay for his newsletter:

As noted in the Star Tribune story of November 20, Ritchie's campaign e-mail of October 22, 2007 ended with a solicitation for contributions:

As with all of my posts involving Secretary of State Ritchie, I encourage someone to respond to one of the numerous requests I've sent to his campaign and official office asking for a comment or interview.  I will publish any reply I received from Ritchie's official office or from his campaign responding to the specific allegations.

If you have another example of a lie you believe was told by Ritchie in response to the allegations that he used his official office to fund his political machine, please leave a comment with the supporting documentation on this post.

Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

    13 people care about this.

Mark, you know this for a fact??.. Kare11 would not waste a part of their news cast on this story if that were true…you hope and pray nobody cares, but you are wrong.

I’m thinking Mark must have written the whining letter to the editor of the Strib. The one that is typical of democrats trying to ignore the misdeeds of their own.

Mark Peterson: I’m sure MDE has received many, many more hits on this story than 13. In fact, I”m sure most of the lazy press corps has been checking MDE many times a day to read about new developments in this story.

This is a *real* story as much as Mark Ritchie and his leftist supporters don’t want it to be a story…..

Mark and other DFL’ers don’t care about this because they condone lying. They have no conscience and view lying as part of what is necessary to hold power. After all, holding power is key to imposing their views on society and doing whatever it takes to meet that goal is part of their creed.

I agree with the comments here. If an elected official lies to the public they should resign. So I am sure all of you will join me in calling for the impeachment/resignation of President Bush and VP Chenney for their lies to the American people over the last 6 years.

I think that the reaction of the Democrat party is at least as damning as the offense itself.

It seems that to Democrat’s there is no limit to the depths they will stoop in their race to the lowest common denominator.

The Democrat party has irrevocably identified itself as The Party of Scrubs.

  8. Veritas Says:

what lies exactly HCDFL? what lies specifically have they told?

Check this out from last night’s news broadcast–so glad this is online. I almost spit out my leftover stuffing laughing at this segment in light of the Mark Ritchie story.

Don Shelby regarding the lack of news stories to cover on “Black Friday” Do you think he missed Wednesday’s Star Trib? Doubtful.

“politicians are careful not do do anything stupid… if they did– even a small stupid thing–it would be the lead story because the only story they’re competing traffic at the mall. It is nothing happening for news folks.”

  10. Veritas Says:
    November 24th, 2007 at 10:38 AM

this is off topic, but it is a link in that it is more proof of DFLiar deceit, recently much has been written about Jim obarstar not supporting the exemption for the Delta Queen riverboat to continue overnight passenger service.. he says it is asafety issue, his example used is ludicrous at best, juvenile at worst, he cited the General Slocum disaster of 1904, somehow hethinks that things have not changed in 100 years, the Slocum was an all wooden steamboat that burned killing over 1000 people, the GS had no working fire hoses, no sprinkler system, held no fire drills, had a criminally negligent captain, and was piled high with highly flammable cargo, none of those things apply in 2007… Oberstar’s agenda is simple… the International Seafarers Union is in a dispute with the owners of the DQ… they came to him to help sink the Queen….. and so the lying scum bag from the range is not going to give the DQ it’s exemption, effectively taking this beautiful boat off the water, Igrew up watching the DQ ply the Ohio River in Cincinnati, what a shame

Don Shelby is a well known DFL hack, he is in love with the sound of his own voice

  12. HCDFL Says:
    November 24th, 2007 at 10:52 AM

1)WMD’s, 2)Saddam and his connection to 9/11 3)IRAQ AS IMMINENT THREAT The Carnegie Endowment for Peace’s report on WMD’s in Iraq also concluded that Iraq did not pose an immediate threat to the United States or to global security., 4)social security going bust. 5)Tax cuts for the middle class, the top 1/5th of earners receive 2/3rds of all benefits and the bill excluded extending the child tax credit to 4 million low income families. Middle class earners will receive an average cut of $162 in 2005. 6)No time for warrants( you get 3 days)and the misuse of FISA, I can go on

  13. Honeydog Says:
    November 24th, 2007 at 11:22 AM

HCDFL, then you better blame Tenet (who was appointed by Clinton) and the other people who gave Bush bad intel. Bush didn’t lie, he made a judgment, and gasp, Democrats at the time agreed with him!

Social Security is going have a lot of problems. I’m at the tail end of the baby boom, and I’ll be lucky if I get even a portion of what is due me.

I got a tax cut……..proportional with what I paid in.

  14. Honeydog Says:
    November 24th, 2007 at 11:23 AM

Oh and HCDFL, Bush never said Saddam was connected with 9/11. He said Saddam was connected with terrorism, which is the truth. Saddam funded and harbored terrorists for a long time. And there is ample proof of that.

  15. HCDFL Says:
    November 24th, 2007 at 12:44 PM

wow, it only took two comments to evoke a “Clinton” You are right, it wasn’t Bush who made the conection it was Chenney(check it out at YouTube)From Bush’s 2005 SOU address;”By the year 2042 the entire (social security) system would be exhasted and bankrupt.” Truth be told, if NO adjustments are made by 2042(there have been adjustments in the past) 3/4 of the promised funds would still be available. The system needs to be fixed, but it isn’t broke. If you guys here at MDE can put this much effort forth about lies in the SOS office, it’s time to start looking into the lies that Bush and Co. have been telling you for the past 6 years.

  16. Walter Says:
    November 24th, 2007 at 12:51 PM

    HCDFL:

First of all it’s amazing that how a Democrat wants to not talk about the subject that they change it.

But if you want to play this silly game.

Social Security is a pyramid scheme that is going to go broke. Bush never claimed it was going to grow broke during his adminstration. What he was trying to do was reform it so we didn’t need a massive tax incrase and to increase the benefits people got for their social security dollars. So that wasn’t a lie.

The tax cuts did give large tax cuts in terms of dollars to the upper rich, but it caused a dramatic expansion in the economy now more than 60 months once they were made permanent despite oil prices approaching $100 a barrell (Bush was trying to increase oil production before that happened or will say that is a lie) hurricane Katrina’s damage, a banking crisis. Keep in mind Bush inherited an ecomony that was alreadin in a recession (and the Democrats claimed in 2000 he was trying to lie about that). More jobs, higher paying jobs, a reduction in the deficit so that money can be spent on things like hurricane relief. So that wasn’t a lie either.

That FISA thing you complain about is phonecalls overseas. So if you call your sister in Minneapolis, MN that call won’t be monitored. On the other hand you might sound like a person who will pick up a phone and call your average terrorist in Iraq trying to kill Americans so that call can be tapped. And what happens is the calls get recorded because of remarkable spy satellites. If language experts pick up a pattern they might replay calls. Hence that is when the warrant is needed. So that isn’t a lie. And if you’re so upset about this why weren’t you upset about the Clinton’s domestic wiretapping program that was done without warrants.

Your lie about Bush claiming Iraq was involved with 9-11 was a joke. The Bush Adminstration never made that claim. They did claim that Iraq was a source of evil and will give terrorists support. And lets keep in mind Iraq has invaded two countries while Hussein was ruling it. He used chemical weapons on his own people. So I’m safe to say Iraq was a source of evil. So that wasn’t a lie.

As for the report about Iraq not being an immienent threat that I will partially concede, but here’s a point to remember. In 1933 a crazy man got power in the country of Germany. It had no real army. It was suppose to have no real weapons such as tanks, airplanes, major warships, etc. In six years that crazy man had Germany into such a great military he launched a war where he conquered almost all of Europe killing millions of people. Bush wasn’t going to take that chance. And keep in mind Saddam was working as hard as he could to undermine the sancations on Iraq that was reducing their possible threat. He had kicked out the weapon inspectors in 1998 (wait a minute wasn’t Clinton President than). So HC I can’t give you credit for that and in terms of a lie for impeachment there is no case for that.

And of course for your silly one about weapons of mass destruction. Husein had them because he used them against his own people. Husein had them because they were found (not publiczed until some Republicans broke the security on it). And when the Congress voted to approve it not only was any member of Congress allowed to get any question they wanted (even if it was special security meetings). The whole world believed that Iraq had the weapons including the countries like France that was opposing us at the time.

And HCDFL a Senator took the floor to vote for the war. They said they independtly verified the nature of the treat (so there is no way you can say this Senator will lie). You are aware that was Senator Hillary Clinton so Bush didn’t lie on this.

HC you don’t have any lies. So in a seperate post on your own website keep listing those imaginary lies. In meantime thank you for publically supporting that Mark Ritchie should resign.

  17. Honeydog Says:

Wow, what a weak comeback HCDFL. I didn’t say anything derogatory about Clinton, only that he appointed the guy that gave Bush the bad intel.

And it seems to me, the 2005 SOU address is irrelevant since that was after we went into Iraq!

Personally, I think we waited to long to go back in. When we came back from the first Gulf War we all knew we would be back there eventually. We all felt we needed to finish the job and take out Hussein then, but Bush the elder didn’t want to defy the UN even though the UN is one big massive joke and corrupt as all get out.

Clinton is a dick, there I said something derogatory about him/her Carnigie Endowment for Peace?? are you kidding me??…that is a communist front group
