SOURCES: DFLERS CONCERNED ABOUT “STICKING THEIR NECKS OUT” FOR RITCHIE; ENTENZA DEFENDS RITCHIE ON “AT ISSUE”
By Michael Brodkorb | November 25, 2007
I spoke with a two "connected" DFLers tonight about the growing scandal surrounding allegations that Secretary of State Ritchie used his official office to fund his political machine.
My sources contend that more DFLers would like to defend Ritchie, but won't. Since Ritchie admitted that he gave the list to his campaign after denying that he knew anything about it, most DFLers are concerned about "sticking their necks out for him" said one of my sources.
(This would explain the anemic response from the liberal blogosphere in defending Ritchie.)
The DFLers I spoke with didn't use the "L" word (lie), but both did state that Ritchie has a credibility problem that he needs to solve very quickly.
Ritchie is getting cover from DFL Party Chairman Brian Melendez and from former Attorney General candidate Matt Entenza (yes, I wrote Entenza), who appeared on "At Issue" on KSTP this morning. That is Melendez's job to defend DFL elected candidates.
But can Ritchie solve his credibility problem with Minnesotans by having the ethically-challenged Entenza defend him on TV? I don't think so.

Hi Mike any DFLer that doesn’t publically say that Ritchie has done something wrong and should have some type of punishment are defending him by not attacking him. They’re keeping quiet hoping that since this really hadn’t penetrated the main stream media that they wouldn’t have to take a position.
It’s going to get to a point especially for house freshman that when Republican candidates next fall will be reminding the voters that the DFL controlled house did nothing on Ritchie let alone Swanson that they will pay the price.
They are just hoping that Ritchie can spin some magic explanation that can make this go away, but with:
* Writing false letters to Republican lawmakers
* causing an investigation that shouldn’t have to take place
* stealing state property
* violating access to data even if it is useable data.
Those things can’t be explained away.

I believe this might qualify as a pretty good example of what you re looking for. Enjoy the read!
And for the benefit of your dedicated readers who are far too busy to take on a little research project…

I missed “At Issue” yesterday — classic that the DFL has Entenza defending Ritchie!
You can’t make this stuff up…
Keep up the great work, MDE.

A few other items of breaking news that might have eclipsed Entenza defending Ritchie for corruption, complicated webs of deception, cover-ups, abuse of power, etc. etc. etc.
1) Ellison defends serial speeders on the road.
2) Former-Congressman Foley defends creepy Congressional page abusers.
3) Michael Vick defends those involved in dog related sporting events.
You are right GoME, you can’t make this stuff up. I bet Ritchie watched “At Issue” and said, “get off my side.”
But he can’t escape it.
He’s joined that same club as Matt Entenza of corrupt, power hungry politicians who have been so willing to lie to the media and the public to try to cover up a constantly developing web of deception.
It is the same club of arrogant politicians who think they don’t have to be accountable, so they can take from the public who may disagree with them and use for their own political gain (after all, the ends justify the means with guys like Ritchie and Entenza).
But the big difference here, is that Ritchie lied to us about politicizing the office that is charged with fair elections. And there are countless unanswered questions and half-answered questions about that politicization.
I don’t see how he can look to the voters and say “I’ll be fair to everyone next time you vote” after this. And certainly not while he continues to evade and avoid.

It’s o.k. WildBlue, we understand fully that thieves, liars and frauds are well at home in the Minnesota DFL. Ritchie is the trifecta. We expect dumb, phony bitches like you to rise to his defense… you are him, he is you.

Matt Entenza is not a name you can trust.

Ouch Chestnut. Such nasty names. What a shock coming from someone normally as cordial as you!
Anyway, I didn’t write the piece. I just linked it because Mike (Oooops, I mean Michael D. Brodkorb) says nobody in the liberal blogosphere is writing about his little witch hunt.

Too bad you linked to your kids blog as it reads pretty poorly.
Ritchie is caught and it is killing the local DFL’ers that they yet again have to run cover for one of their own.
Wildblue I would assume also supports Ritchie and feels this is nothing.

BK, you know what they say about making assumptions.

Isn’t it the same as what they say about voting for DFLers?

[...] I spoke with one of my sources for this post tonight and they said this major development is a perfect example of why DFLers don't feel comfortable defending Secretary of State Ritchie. After today's developments, I don't believe most DFLers will be "sticking their necks out" for Ritchie anytime soon. [...]
