PIM: “YOU DON’T MESS WITH JIM”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 26, 2007
"Remember that old Jim Croce tune? The one that goes:
You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger
You don't mess around with Jim
In St. Paul, the Jim you don't mess around with is Legislative Auditor Jim Nobles. For almost 25 years, Nobles has earned and enjoyed the reputation of being a straight shooter and a tough auditor. I am hard-pressed to think of anyone who has tried to pull the wool over Nobles' eyes. Incredibly, it appears that DFL Secretary of State Mark Ritchie has tried to do just that." While I think this is a generally accurate portrayal, Nobles is still a DFLer. So we probably ought to exercise at least a little caution before declaring him a Saint.
I believe that he will be a “straight shooter” and a “tough auditor” even with a fellow DFLer like Ritchie.
But we all ought to at least reserve judgment on this until Nobles announces his findings. (one way or the other)

He tells you, because Drudge copywrited that little siren thing) about how the tough, thoughtful, well respected Legislative Auditor is going to come take Mark Ritchie to task. [...]

[...] As the legislature works towards passing the transportation bill I’d like all the Republicans who’ll crow when the Governor vetoes the ‘tax laden’ bill, to make sure that you’ve read the Legislative Auditor’s report on Minnesota’s state highway system. Some highlights from the summary. [...]
