BETTY FOLLIARD LABELS STAR TRIBUNE “AN ATTACK DOG” OVER RITCHIE COVERAGE
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 27, 2007
Strib an attack dog
On Nov. 12, DFL State Chairman Brian Melendez called for GOP Lt. Gov./Transportation Commissioner Carol Molnau's resignation for continuing mismanagement at MnDOT, stating, "Firing one person at MnDOT doesn't even come close to addressing that department's dysfunction, which begins with the utter failure of Lt. Gov. Molnau as commissioner. … Molnau should step down so that our state and transportation infrastructure can recover from years of mismanagement and underfunding by the Pawlenty administration." Yet the Star Tribune did not report this news.
On Nov. 20, Minnesota GOP Chairman Ron Carey called on Secretary of State Mark Ritchie to resign for allegedly using public data publicly. And the Star Tribune is all over it like a cheap suit.
What gives?

In my opinion, Folliard is trying to get back in the good graces of the DFL after claiming in an email that the DFL has a "tendency to only award white, male, rural anti-choice legislators."
Finally, you know Ritchie is in trouble when Folliard and disgraced Attorney General candidate are out in front defending him.

She’s right. The Star Tribune totally ignores the whole MnDOT thing and hardly does any stories on it. The paper also does not cover the Vikings.

Who the heck is Betty Folliard?
Why do we care that she actually thinks that the Red Star and Sickle is biased towards the Pawlenty admin?

Umm. Betty:
The fact that there were a bunch of Democrats calling for Molnau to resign had been reported a bunch of times.
The Star Tribune on the other hand instead of starting to seriously cover this story in late October when it first broke is finally reporting on it in late November. And their coverage has been reactive.
Does that help Betty.

I feel so sorry for Betty Folliard. She so desperately wants to be relevant. It would just be nice if she made a little sense once in a while.
Mark Ritchie just admitted recently that he personally gave a list from his official office to his campaign team. And that isn’t consistent with what he told the Legislative Auditor.
That is a story and that is why they Trib printed it.
Nothing even similar exists with the DOT, so Betty is apparently totally confused.

Uhmmmm because Mark Ritchie is the thief and liar… whereas the wrongdoer at MnDOT was fired immediately.
Still, Betty is right. The Strib usually reports whatever bullshit floats out of a DFLer’s mouth.
