TPT’S MARY LAHAMMER: “RAY COX RUNNING FOR NEUVILLE’S SEAT”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 27, 2007
"I think you're hearing it here first, former State Representative Ray Cox just told me, 'yes, I do plan to run' for the seat Sen Tom Neuville is expected to vacate today. Cox told me he had coffee this morning with Sen. Neuville and he encouraged Cox to attend Gov. Pawlenty's announcement at 1:00 in Faribault where the governor will appoint a new judge to the Rice County bench." Source: TPT's Mary Lahammer, November 27, 2007

I guess we’ll see you at the special on Christmas! I would expect nothing less from Governor Scrooge!

I think the GOP should run Dan Oxner. Or Kay I mean Sue Ek.

George,
How about the DFL run Linda Feelstinker? I’m sure Education Minnesota, er, the DFL will find some underemployed teacher to run.

This seat will definately stay in Republican hands if Ray Cox does run for this seat.

The scheduling of this election is irrelevant. Have it in January when the college students are back. Cox will win this seat easily.

Cox is a class act and will win this big time. It might be interesting if Bly runs, but regardless of timing, Cox gets almost or about 50% in his old House Seat and about 65% in the Brod side of the seat.
SOS Mark Ritchie might suggest special election dates, but what credibility does he have at this point? He’s probably too busy giving private lists he stole from somewhere to the DFL hacks at the State Party.
Good way for the DFL to burn through $100,000 like they did trying to win Sviggum’s seat. Go ahead and try.

Ray Cox would be an excellent candidate. He’s going to alienate the Jason Lewis and Michele Bachmann types. He was one of the few GOP house members to vote against the Bachmann amendment. While in office, he was very interested in conservation/environmental issues.

I don’t think it matters when the election is held. Our crackerjack Secretary of State should have the results posted on his website by, oh, let’s say, July 4th.

Cox is a decent candidate, but he can be beat (check out last election). Given the money troubles of the Republicans, they will really have to pick it up to keep this seat.

Trevor-
Only it wouldn’t be a pick-up for the Republicans, it would be a hold. This race should be a breeze for the GOP, but the Senate will remain 44-23.

What part of “keep this seat”, didn’t you understand?

I’d never support Ray Cox.
His support of the Twins Stadium bill showed that he never wanted Hennepin County taxpayers to be able to decide whether they wished to be taxed for it.
Like a number of other defeated GOP House members, he displayed sheer arrogance in his defense of the Twins Stadium bill.
It didn’t bother me a bit to see that he was defeated for re-election in ’06. I hope he experiences the same this time around.

Were the only lawmakers displaying “arrogance” from the GOP? Were there any out-state DFL members who supported the stadium bill?
In my opinion, the state has no business paying for a stadium – or for the Guthrie, the Minnesota Zoo, etc.
