MN GOP CHAIRMAN RON CAREY: “FRANKEN LIES ABOUT PAST ATTACKS”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 28, 2007
During a recent visit to Rochester, Al Franken served up a real whopper to readers of this newspaper.
In an interview, Franken was asked whether he had ever mocked Bob Dole over the war wounds Dole suffered during World War II. "That is not true at all," Franken insisted.
Yet Franken wrote this in 1996: "If the plot of the movie involves an evil one-armed killer, as in 'The Fugitive,' the movie qualifies as a Bob Dole Nightmare of Depravity. And the one-armed man doesn't have to be a killer; he need only be portrayed as 'mean-spirited.'"
Franken then wrote: "I apologize for that. It was wrong. Dole, of course, lost the use of his right arm while defending my right to make a cheap, offensive, and not all that clever joke."
A 1996 article in the Austin American Statesman noted that Franken made "some jokes comparing Dole to the one-armed murderer in the movie 'The Fugitive.'"
Franken has long poisoned the public square with extreme and nasty personal attacks. To Franken, "Republican politicians" are "shameless (expletive deleted)," former Secretary of State James Baker is a "lying scumbag" and listeners to Rush Limbaugh's program are "(expletive deleted) morons."
For a man who has relentlessly attacked others as "liars," Al Franken sure has difficulty telling the truth.

Chronic liars lose the truth. They lie when the truth wont support their positions. Then they lie to cover the fact that they lied. After enough lies are told the truth is no longer on the radar screen. Not that it ever was on the screen for the likes of Frankenfib. These chronic liars live in a world where the truth and lies are one in the same.

Big Kahuna: Don’t you have any original thought or humor? You’re just jealous ’cause Franken is a Harvard grad and extremely witty and funny…Amy Klobuchar is a Yale grad…hmmm…better educated>>Democrat>>care about the common good, not just corporate profit…Repubs=take from the Middle Class and give to the Rich…want to be tough “Individuals” and are too dopey to realize they live in a society…

Franken isn’t funny? His schticks are crass and very plebian.
And what common good? Since when does throwing rancid scraps to appease people into accepting policies that keep the yoke of slavery on their neck equate to the common good?

Hey, don’t bring George Bush into this.

Democrat>>care about the common good, not just corporate profit…Repubs=take from the Middle Class and give to the Rich
Hahaha!!! i bet you actually believe this too.
Funny I do not support giving money to the rich Franken, Ciresi, Pelosi or any other very wealthy democrat.
Funny thing is all these democRats take every tax break they can legally take. One would think if they cared so much, they would be willing to give more for a better America.
What they REALLY want is for taxes to be raised so they can grow government and then dole out benefits as they see fit. A democRat is not about making a persons life better, they are about supporting the person so they become dependant on them and then the democRats can count on those votes so these dependant people can continue to get benefits.
SO, NO your democRats are hardly about the common good!
What would be good for the common good is getting more people to be responsible for their actions and help get these people off government handouts and instead get them into the work force. Without doubt the democRats know what they have been doing with their social programs, which is to BUY votes from dependant people.
What a despicable party!

Hey MNBlueStateGal1:
Lots of liberals listen to Rush Limbaugh so they aren’t morons. apperently the people you’re referring to are the small minded people who don’t listen ro Rush.
You say that liberals care about people more than profits. So can you explain why an Air America executive was stealing money from a Boys Club to held fund Air America a couple of years ago? Hint conservative talk radio draws an audience that will buy products and cause advertisers to want to buy commercials. Air America just airs hate!
If you think Franken is funny that might explain why you don’t understand humor. And keep in mind President Bush graduated from Yale with better grades than John K so by your standard President Bush isn’t the dummy that a lot of Democrats claim he is.
And Blue this is a silly concept. But if you cut the tax rate from lets say 38% to 35% that money doesn’t come from a middle class person. The rich person just pays less taxes. And a lot of people invested that extra money into businesses which grew the economy for the poor and the middle class. You might need to go to Yale to learn basic economics.
