REMINDER — PRIMARY FOR SD 25 SPECIAL ELECTION TOMORROW
By Michael B. Brodkorb | December 17, 2007
Tomorrow is the Primary in Senate District 25 (due to Sen. Tom Neuville's judicial appointment). Former Representative Ray Cox, the Republican-endorsed candidate, faces little opposition in tomorrow's primary.
King and I interviewed Cox on our radio show last Saturday and as I mentioned on the program, Cox is a dedicated blogger at www.raycox.net.
If you live in SD 25, don't forgot to vote in the primary election tomorrow. The general election will be on Thursday, January 3, 2008.

I saw that apple-doofus made a post at looktruenorth about the race. I think andi’s a bpou chair or deputy chair — he should appreciate that the local folks endorsed Ray Cox. Cox is a strong Republican with a good voting record. Too bad andi relied on a “former legislator” for his information, rather than doing a little research on his own. He’s as bad as the lazy MSM journalists.

who is running against Cox in the primary? And, who is in the DFL primary?
December 18th, 2007 at 9:04 AM
“strong Republican with a good voting record”
Does that mean voting to jam Hennepin County into the ground, taking away out right to vote (by state statute) on Carl Pohlad’s Museum of Greed is being a “strong Republican”. You think that’s a “good voting record”?
Fracktard, you is a RETARD.
December 18th, 2007 at 10:38 AM
Yup. A “strong Republican” he is:
Ray Cox was an author on HF4147 in 2006, the Great Cigarette Tax scam (oh yeah…that was a fee, wasn’t it?)
And he was an author of the idiotic NorthStar rail boondoggle (HF3342).
The HF2481, THE GAS TAX INCREASE!
Before all you Kool-Aid drinkers guzzle down a couple more pints, put on your rose colored glasses, and believe Cox is a “strong Republican”…maybe you asshats should know what you are talking about.
Because you DON’T.

SD25 has a choice. Vote for Cox, and get a DFLer in GOP clothing.
Or…vote for a Republican. Rodney Tietz is running in the Primary. He deserves your support. Cox deserves your venom.
I’m VERY disappointed in you MDE. Cox is NOT worthy of GOP support.
December 18th, 2007 at 11:18 AM
Rodney Tietz? How exactly does good old Rodney plan on campaigning? He hasn’t raised boo for money.
December 18th, 2007 at 11:45 AM
So, Thor, its better to support a turd, because he’s got more money?
December 18th, 2007 at 12:58 PM
Ray Cox is no turd. Supporting someone who will not win (Rodney T.)…that is dumb. Of course unless you are a Democrat. Then be happy and vote for Rodney.

AAAshole is a complete douche bag that should go away. His guy Kennedy endorses Lieberman last year and somehow that was ok, now when Lieberman endorses McCain he has a temper tantrum.
Have fun following the Fred express off of a cliff AAAsshole!!!

whoa there, gopgal.
Last time I checked, the Republican Party believes in local control. It is my understanding that there was an endorsing convention a couple weeks ago and Ray Cox won the endorsement on the first ballot.
It is not helpful to have people racing around for a guy who is working outside the process. If the endorsement convention wasn’t fair, maybe he’d have a point.
For all those who are belly-aching, you should have showed up at the endorsing convention and supported another candidate if you didn’t like Ray Cox.
December 18th, 2007 at 2:23 PM
I think it’s too bad when elected BPOU officials like andi are encouraging people to go outside the party’s endorsing process.
If someone like Cox is endorsed by the local people, then he should have the full support of the Republican Party. He shouldn’t have his credentials questioned by anonymous asshats.
December 18th, 2007 at 2:31 PM
I’m not questioning his credentials…I’m pointing out that Cox is not worth supporting. His record speaks for itself.
Raise taxes, support the rape of Hennepin County taxpayers, raise MORE taxes.
Any questions?
December 18th, 2007 at 2:39 PM
D — do you live in the district?
If you’re upset about Cox, talk to the GOP delegates who endorsed Cox for the Senate. The power is with the people — in this case, it appears as though the local Republican party endorsed Cox on the first ballot.
And, I think Cox was endorsed in his previous races, so it’s clear the local Republicans have endorsed Cox and feel as though he is acceptable.
December 18th, 2007 at 3:54 PM
I just spoke to a friend in the district. I guess Rodney has about as much of a chance to win the primary as Sue Jeffers has to win for Governor.
Looking forward to having Ray Cox back in St. Paul!
December 18th, 2007 at 4:08 PM
Yes, it sure will be grand to have another RINO in St. Paul
December 18th, 2007 at 4:15 PM
It sure is a blast, knowing we’ll have another tax-raising RINO in the Senate. Just what Minnesota needs.
December 18th, 2007 at 4:16 PM
St. Paul will get exactly what they deserve.
December 18th, 2007 at 6:48 PM
I think it is funny that the Republicans think so little of Cox that they encouraged the primary to occur. The Democrats have their forces all lined up behind a great candidate, and Cox will be lucky to survive his own primary.
December 18th, 2007 at 8:31 PM
You know, who really gives a damn about Hennepin County? THEY DESERVE EVERY SINGLE THING THEY GET.
D deserves getting ramrodded with Pohlad’s tax, until such time as he starts getting a little more vicious and starting to really do some damage to the Hennepin County Commissioners.
December 18th, 2007 at 8:39 PM
Minny Moderate-
Last time I checked the GOP party platform also opposed the use of taxpayers dollars for any sports venue.
Or did you conveniently forget that?
The “local govt” line was one spouted by many of the pro-stadium GOP legislators – inluding former ones like Ray Cox.
Trust me, I’m glad he’s a former legislator too. I’m not in the least bit sorry he lost and I hope he loses again.
I’m done being a fucking team player for the GOP. Pardon the vulgarity but that’s exactly how I feel. It’s time to start holding these legislators (and former legislators) accountable.
December 18th, 2007 at 8:42 PM
Sakaki-
You can blame the Hennepin Count legislators all you want. They certainly do share the blame.
But I hold our GOP legislators responsible for breaking their “No New Taxes” pledges by rushing up to kiss a half-senile billionaire’s ass.
December 18th, 2007 at 9:41 PM
You can hold them accountable all you wish, they’re from outstate. They don’t need to care about Hennepin County. That’s the whole point.
If HC had not even brought up the idea in the first place, the bill would never have been put through. But because the commissioners opened their big fat mouths, they let in a lot of crap.
HC deserves every single thing they’re getting. And the people of HC in the city of Minneapolis proper should be getting soaked for it. That’ll show them whatfor for putting in a racist US representative.

[...] As predicted, former Representative Ray Cox, faced little opposition in today's primary election in SD 25. Cox, the Republican-endorsed candidate, beat his GOP rivals with almost 67% of the vote. [...]
December 18th, 2007 at 10:46 PM
Lemmy: pull your head out of your ace. Cox received over 2/3 of the vote in the GOP Primary.
He is one of the hardest working candidates around — that’s why he can win in a district like Northfield.
To you other fracktards: a DFLer’s first vote would be for Pogemiller (Senate) or Kelliher (House) — wake the ‘f up. That’s the vote that matters. I’d much rather have Cox in there than some DFLer.
December 18th, 2007 at 10:48 PM
I think the reason a Primary occured on the GOP side was because delusional people like Sue Jeffers thought someone like Rodney Tietz could win.
Jeffers should pay more attention to the Ron Paul campaign — maybe start another ‘money bomb.’
