I said that the people in Hennepin County voted out Republicans who supported the Twins Stadium. You do not dispute this. What’s your point? As a Republican, when Hennepin County votes in almost all Democrats and re-elects their County Commissioners, I don’t care about them. They deserve the government they get.

Why don’t you just keep to giving AAA a reach around and having circle jerk sessions with him.

I also hope you don’t go to any Twins games starting in 2010.

Only 2 (that would be less than 3 and more than 1) GOP elected members voted for the Twins pork: Sykora and Neil Peterson. Peterson was re-elected and Sykora quit. To my knowledge, no Hennepin County GOPer in the Senate voted for it, although Belanger could have (and he lost re-election).

It was a well known fact that over 70% of Hennepin County were against this.

As far as the all the taxes you reference, they tried…and failed. But they tried to ram all of us, not just one county. They jammed one county for this and soaked us.

Its comforting to know that you care so little about a rather basic and important right: The Right to Vote.

The people in Hennepin County voted largely for Democrats in the last election. They even turned out Republicans who voted against the stadium. The Democrats the people in Hennepin County voted for will vote to raise my income taxes, my sales taxes and will take money away from my schools. Moreover, the people in Hennepin County will probably re-elect all of the Hennepin County Commissioners who came up with the stadium tax scheme in the first place. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for the people in Hennepin County.

But if you think jamming taxes down our throats, while subverting my legal right to vote is something that this Party stands for…you’re a lost cause.

Every Republican that sold out Hennepin county should be held accountable for their vote.

That’s ok. When a party stands for nothing, they lose everything.

Back in the 1950s (I’ve read) the Ohio Republican Party had a chair named Ray Bliss. Bliss was famous for finding candidates who would mesh well with their congressional districts. For that reason, the GOP consistently, under the leadership of Bliss, won seats not only in solid GOP districts but in blue-collar Democratic ones as well.

What was good politics then is good politics today.

If “Republicans” like you had your way, we would have about 6 State Senators and about 12 State Representatives. This is not a conservative Republican state and SD 25 is not a conservative Republican district. You have to run people in these districts who can win. It’s sad that there are so many people who are so willing to cut their noses off to spite their face.

He bitches, moans, and whines….but when push comes to shove he doesn’t do damn thing productive except make anonymous posts on blogs, so he can feel like a tough guy.

There’s a process is place for endorsements. I have heard no one else claim it was unfair in this instance.

Even assuming for the sake of argument that, as you contend, the “GOP party animals” twisted the arms of the delegates to endorse Cox, my response is: So what”!

They have a secret ballot. Arm-twisting can go so far, but the secret ballot trumps any pressure tactics at any convention.

Oh yeah, MinnyMod…a hastily called endorsing convention in the middle of the Christmas season, in a district where 1/2 are Cox supporters, and a pile of GOP party animals come down to twist the arms of the handful of delegates that actaully showed up. Whoopie.

And just so I understand, voting for tax increase after tax increase after tax increase is something that we should NOT hold a candidate accountable for?

Go vote DFL, you clod.

If you’re going to endorce a purity test on GOP elected officials, you’ll be left with Mark Olson. And he was kicked out of the caucus!

If you’re going to be a purist on the platform, then you should direct your anger and ire (apparently there’s a lot of it) at the local activists who endorsed Cox overwhelmingly on the first ballot!

Hopefully, the DFLer will win. But its more likely that Cox’s name ID will carry him. Which is unfortunate.

Cox may win, simply due to the shortness of the election season. But when the voters have the choice between semi-DFL and full-DFL candidates (as they do for this election), the voters will go DFL. Perhaps the State Party and the rest of you Cox supporters will learn a lesson from this election.
