D,

I said that the people in Hennepin County voted out Republicans who supported the Twins Stadium. You do not dispute this. What's your point? As a Republican, when Hennepin County votes in almost all Democrats and re-elects their County Commissioners, I don't care about them. They deserve the government they get.

D,

Why don't you just keep to giving AAA a reach around and having circle jerk sessions with him.

I also hope you don't go to any Twins games starting in 2010.

Nice to see you don't know your facts, Chris.

Only 2 (that would be less than 3 and more than 1) GOP elected members voted for the Twins pork: Sykora and Neil Peterson. Peterson was re-elected and Sykora quit. To my knowledge, no Hennepin County GOPer in the Senate voted for it, although Belanger could have (and he lost re-election).

It was a well known fact that over 70% of Hennepin County were against this.

As far as the all the taxes you reference, they tried...and failed. But they tried to ram all of us, not just one county. They jammed one county for this and soaked us.

Its comforting to know that you care so little about a rather basic and important right: The Right to Vote.

D,

The people in Hennepin County voted largely for Democrats in the last election. They even turned out Republicans who voted against the stadium. The Democrats the people in Hennepin County voted for will vote to raise my income taxes, my sales taxes and will take money away from my schools. Moreover, the people in Hennepin County will probably re-elect all of the Hennepin County Commissioners who came up with the stadium tax scheme in the first place. I don't have a lot of sympathy for the people in Hennepin County.

Sorry, Chris...but I've done all of those campaign activities. Every year.

But if you think jamming taxes down our throats, while subverting my legal right to vote is something that this Party stands for...you're a lost cause.

Every Republican that sold out Hennepin county should be held accountable for their vote.

I love how the far right wingers search to purify the party when I'll bet this guy has never put up a lawn sign, never made phone calls to get out the vote, never given any money to candidates, never walked in parades or done anything but bitch about Republicans. Michael, maybe you should check the ip address and see if Jason Lewis is posting here (just kidding!).

Laura Brod sure had "guts" when that billionaire and his millionaire employees came calling and she sold out both conservative and GOP principles by ramming a tax down Hennepin county's throat without the referendum that they had a legal right to. Perhaps we can call up Wisconsin and have them set our tax policies, or North Dakota.

That's ok. When a party stands for nothing, they lose everything.

D- you are absolutely clueless if you think Brod is an idiot. Pay attention at least a little. Maybe you have no ability to recognize someone who is extremely smart. I feel sorry for you if you think that if someone does not agree with you they are stupid or an idiot. Contrary to your limited viewpoint, I have heard Brod described as one of the smartest and most thoughtful legislators at the Capitol with a lot of guts. I have spoken with her and concur with that assessment. Smart, atractive, ambitious, and gutsy .... yeah you think that is a bad recipe for republicans??? Maybe you aren't confident in yourself so you feel threatened by her? Either way, you are cracked. You may not agree with Cox and Brod on all issues, but the facts are that they are both successful small business owners and the exact type of people we should want running for office. The reason we do not get more of them is that generally these hard working small business owners who know what it means to sign the front of a payroll check don't want to have to put up with absolutionists and single issue voters like you. Way to go Cox and get ready to vote for Brod in 2010.

Senator Neuville was no big conservative but he represented his district and won re-election every time - why would you expect his replacement be any different and still win the district.

No, Mini, I'm not AAA. However, I can appreciate how he actually wants to have our leaders do more than pay lip service to our Party's core principles. When you have an example like Cox, who is doing all he can to fight AGAINST our Party's platform, he deserves no support. We have the misfortune of having a bunch of complete idiots in SD25 (see: Laura Brod)

Maybe "D" is andi aplikowski?

Note the use of "lemmings" (I think andi called Bachmann supporters lemmings and zombies last year). And also, my personal favorite, D's use of the word "asshat," another favorite word of andi.

Andi, is that you?

Chris makes a good point about the value of running candidates who fit their districts.

Back in the 1950s (I've read) the Ohio Republican Party had a chair named Ray Bliss. Bliss was famous for finding candidates who would mesh well with their congressional districts. For that reason, the GOP consistently, under the leadership of Bliss, won seats not only in solid GOP districts but in blue-collar Democratic ones as well.

What was good politics then is good politics today.

Back in the 1950s (I’ve read) the Ohio Republican Party had a chair named Ray Bliss. Bliss was famous for finding candidates who would mesh well with their congressional districts. For that reason, the GOP consistently, under the leadership of Bliss, won seats not only in solid GOP districts but in blue-collar Democratic ones as well.

D,

If "Republicans" like you had your way, we would have about 6 State Senators and about 12 State Representatives. This is not a conservative Republican state and SD 25 is not a conservative Republican district. You have to run people in these districts who can win. It's sad that there are so many people who are so willing to cut their noses off to spite their face.

Cox, as I understand it, has pledged to uphold all Pawlenty vetoes. That alone is reason to pick him over the DFLer, Cox's moderate credentials notwithstanding.

D is clearly a conspiracy theorist weenie.

He bitches, moans, and whines....but when push comes to shove he doesn't do damn thing productive except make anonymous posts on blogs, so he can feel like a tough guy.

There's a process is place for endorsements. I have heard no one else claim it was unfair in this instance.

D,

Even assuming for the sake of argument that, as you contend, the "GOP party animals" twisted the arms of the delegates to endorse Cox, my response is: So what"!

They have a secret ballot. Arm-twisting can go so far, but the secret ballot trumps any pressure tactics at any convention.

I read on Cox's website that Tietz called to congratulate Cox on his victory. That was pretty classy of Tietz to do that.

No gopgal...I'm just tired of RINOs getting supported in this Party. Thankfully, Ramstad is hitting the road.

Oh yeah, MinnyMod...a hastily called endorsing convention in the middle of the Christmas season, in a district where 1/2 are Cox supporters, and a pile of GOP party animals come down to twist the arms of the handful of delegates that actaully showed up. Whoopie.

And just so I understand, voting for tax increase after tax increase after tax increase is something that we should NOT hold a candidate accountable for?

Go vote DFL, you clod.

"a limp wristed weenie?"

D, Cox would beat your anonymous pencil-necked ace in a minute.

If you're going to endorce a purity test on GOP elected officials, you'll be left with Mark Olson. And he was kicked out of the caucus!

If you're going to be a purist on the platform, then you should direct your anger and ire (apparently there's a lot of it) at the local activists who endorsed Cox overwhelmingly on the first ballot!

MnMod: I can see how you and your "moderate" (aka liberal in disguise) buddies love Ray. He's a limp-wristed weenie that will raise taxes and wipe his butt with the Party platform.

Hopefully, the DFLer will win. But its more likely that Cox's name ID will carry him. Which is unfortunate.

D -- go whine to the delegates in SD 25 who endorsed Cox. He won the endorsement on the first ballot and cruised in the primary yesterday. More than likely, he'll win the general election as well.

So the voters of SD25 now have the choice between a tax-raising, DFL-light RINO and a DFLer. Wow, what a choice.

Cox may win, simply due to the shortness of the election season. But when the voters have the choice between semi-DFL and full-DFL candidates (as they do for this election), the voters will go DFL. Perhaps the State Party and the rest of you Cox supporters will learn a lesson from this election.
