Way to be a good role model for your students.

KTTC was much nicer to Pfielsticker than the Twin Cities television news stations were to Jim Metzen. Where’s Pfielsticker’s mug shot???

Chris: The mug shot is coming…

Hey Michael…why not post that wonderful endorsement of Ray RINO Cox today? I’d love to see how those people who have been drilling me on having the nerve to call a RINO a RINO react to all anti-Republican issues ‘ol Ray is in favor of. And the simple fact that the RedStar endorsed him…aka the Kiss of Death.

I can Pfiel your pain.
December 28th, 2007 at 1:21 PM
The fact of the matter is that Linda Pfielsticker didn’t have a chance to win in 2008 anyway. This just seals the deal.

Cox is going to destroy the Democrat. Again, the DFL wastes TONS of dollars on an unwinnable seat.
December 28th, 2007 at 8:00 PM
D,
I’m sick and tired of hearing about RINOs. We live in a pretty liberal and pretty DFL state. Ray Cox isn’t elected to just represent you, he will be elected to represent an entire district of people. If you aren’t happy with the Republicans we are still fortunate to have, maybe you should consider moving to a more conservative state.
December 29th, 2007 at 8:02 AM
Did you see the Red Star’s attempt to justify this event in their “more women are getting DWI’s” story.
December 29th, 2007 at 10:58 AM
D, Welcome to RINO central. If the Republicans continue to abandon their conservative base they will, and should, cease to exist as a credible party.
I don’t believe for a second that we live in a liberal state. We are being governed by a vocal minority that retains political power by buying off their constituents.
December 29th, 2007 at 11:32 AM
Bruiser,
If you don’t believe we live in a liberal state, I’d like you to take a look at 2006′s election results. The results speak for themselves. In addition, I object to the notion that Republicans in Minnesota have abandoned their conservative base. We solved a $4.5 billion deficit without raising taxes. We’ve blocked all of the DFL tax incresases in the last session where they controlled the legislature. We ended the profiles of learning and passed the women’s right to know bill. Apparently nothing can make you and D happy.
December 29th, 2007 at 1:16 PM
Chris, YES!! We are doing pretty good all things considered. Most people who consider them selves moderates are very unhappy with the Dems and are beginning to question how they voted during the last election.

How do John Kline and Michele Bachman win in such a liberal state?
And the state budget went up 9% last year- exactly what the Governor presented for a spending increase– Welfare and Education spending now comprises 80% of the state budget– Transportaion? less than 1%
And the Governor is now considering a trip to the North Pole with Will Steiger to see what he can do to solve global warming.
I’m asking for some smaller government common sense Republicans-Republicans that aren’t proposing huge spending increases–I thought that’s what our party platform outlined. People are more concerned about winning than they are about the simple principal of not taking huge amounts of money from average citizens and then telling those citizens to shut up and like it or move to another state. Leave that to the Democrats.
December 30th, 2007 at 12:28 AM
shozzy,
OK, so Bachmann and Kline represent two of the eight Congressional Districts. That’s 25% of the state’s population. Democrats represent five of the eight Congressional Districts and at least three of the five will never go Republican – ever.
You’re right that the state budget went up 9% but you’re wrong that it was for one year. In Minnesota, the budget is over two years. Four and five percent annual increases is hardly a dramatic growth in government.
Sure, we Republicans want tax cuts. Personally, I am a supply sider and would want tax cuts each year. How can we get tax cuts with overwhelming DFL majorities in the state legislature??? Moreover, how can we get majorities to enact such things like tax cuts when Republicans want to run people like Ray Cox out of the party? It’s pretty sad that there are people who think it’s not important to hold the seat when the seat preserves the governor’s veto in the State Senate.
As for education spending, check the state constitution. For good or for ill, our constitution mandates the funding of public education. I agree with you about global warming but would much rather have Pawlenty than Mike Hatch.
December 30th, 2007 at 4:46 PM
Thanks- I’m familiar with the biennial budget process
The state mandates that 50% of the budget should go to public education? Didn’t know that
I know nothing about Ray Cox and am also a political realist- however I don’t think the party should ask Republican voters (and activists) to be happy about the big spending that has become “par for the course” from our elected leaders in the last decade. When you win an election (I don’t care how many DFL’rs are in power) you have an obligation as a Republican to try to reduce the size of our overblown gvt- at the Federal, state and local levels. If Republicans could get back to this simple message (one that most common sense Minnesotans would embrace) we wouldn’t be worried so much about winning/losing seats.

…we live in a Liberal state…
Oh hogwash. You must not have a memory. 1998? 2000? 2002? 2004? Republicans drove the agenda and won, although 2004 was close.
With the example of Cox, you have a guy to likes the idea of higher taxes, supports loony enviro-socialist agendas, and has the spine of jellyfish when it comes to standing up for the GOP party platform.
But, for some of you, its all about winning…and selling your souls.
January 1st, 2008 at 10:51 AM
D,
You don’t think we live in a liberal state. When did the GOP ever control both houses of the Minnesota state legislature? Also, who was our Governor from 1998-2002? Who carried Minnesota for President in 2004?
Personally, I don’t see much soul selling by Republicans in this state. I don’t agree with 100% of our state party platform – but I agree with 97%. What happened to Reagan’s motto, which was if you vote with me 80% of the time you’re not 20% my enemy. I suppose you think Reagan was a RINO too.
