ANOTHER PROUD HIGHLIGHT OF MDE IN THE STAR TRIBUNE’S BLOG HOUSE
By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 10, 2008
"Delicious irony
After DFLer Kevin Dahle defeated Republican Ray Cox in the Senate District 25 special election last week, blogger Michael Brodkorb wrote, 'Negative politics works … . According to sources close to the race, the DFL didn't spend any money on promoting a positive message about Dahle.' Considering the level of issues analysis and thoughtful debate found on Brodkorb's blog, Minnesota Democrats Exposed (10), he'd better count on negative politics working. Otherwise, he'd be out of a job." Source: Star Tribune, January 10, 2008
I will be cutting this section out of my morning newspaper and putting it on my refrigerator. Thanks Tim!

What an awesome marketing piece the Trib has given you.
Not an Emmy, but nonetheless. . .
Congrats!

Is this Michael’s job? I don’t see a lot of ads on this site. Certainly not enough to sustain a guy with two kids.
He must work for Halliburton.

Is this high praise from Tim “we never get any letters to the editor from conservatives” O’Brien? Tim “the Censor” O’Brien?
What a delicious irony to be called out for lacking analysis and thoughtful debate by a guy who works for the Strib. Does he read Nick Coleman or the editorial page of his paper?
I’ve seen more thoughtful analysis written in spray paint on the underside of bridges.

Now now people. The Star and Tribune folks were probably too busy lying about their circulation numbers, plageurizing from the NY Times, and stealing files from the Pioneer Press.
Lying and theft can be hard work.

So here’s a more serious question: Would Tim call the TNR piece on Ron Paul’s newsletters “negative politics”? Just wondering.
January 10th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Yes, I would.

I guess the one bright spot is he didn’t deny that the DFL used negative campaign tactics. I just wish they wouldn’t complain about negative campaigning when they do so much of it themselves. But I guess that is just their nature.

Tim: Thanks for visiting Minnesota Democrats Exposed again. Do you think Nick Coleman engages in negative politics?
Thanks again for leaving a comment, you’re always welcomed on Minnesota Democrats Exposed.

The issue isn’t negative politics. That has always been and will always be with us. To me, I found it funny that the proprietor of a blog called “Minnesota Democrats Exposed” would whine about negative politics. That’s all.
January 10th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
So exposing what public officials do is negative politics. Is that the standard?
Because I think the Star Tribune, and every media organization, has a vested interest in doing that.
January 10th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
Tim O’Brian is spot on. MDE is negativity at it’s worst. Most of you are just to dumb to understand O’Brian’s point. How’s that for negative??
January 10th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Peterson:
His name is spelled “O’Brien” not “O’Brain” as in something you don’t have half of.
January 10th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Mr. Peterson, how is MDE “negativity at it’s worst”? Is it because this blog points out the many failings of the DFL? Come on, you guys need to read this stuff so you can learn from your mistakes! If you try you to could move up in the world and become a Republican, I know it worked for me!

Exactly

Who broke the Entenza scandal? Who broke the Ritchie scandal (and don’t kid yourself, what he did is absolutely scandalous)?
Wasn’t the Star Tribune. It was MDE.
January 10th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
The Star keeps recycling DFL talking points, their circulation keeps dropping and their advertising keeps sagging. Good thing there is welfare Tim. We wouldn’t want you to have to do some honest work for a living.

All I want is some free cheese!

It’s the unswerving hypocrisy of hyping the minor flaws of Minnesota Democrats, while ignoring the larger issues of the day, that consistently amazing me.
MDE’s like the National Enquirer with an Internet bullhorn: disgusting, incredible, appeals to the simple, and facts are optional.
