MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “FRANKEN’S 30-SECOND SPOTS CAN’T OBSCURE 30-YEAR RECORD OF EXTREME, SLASH & BURN ATTACKS”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 15, 2008

"Al Franken's slick and expensive TV ads can't obscure the fact that he fundamentally lacks the temperament, judgment and experience to represent our state in the U.S. Senate.  Given his 30-year record of vicious, harsh and mean-spirited negative personal attacks, Minnesotans aren’t going to be fooled by Franken's extreme makeover."

- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey

The Al Franken You Won’t See In His Slick New Ad Campaign: A Primer

Franken’s Suggested Title For Next Book: "I F*cking Hate Those Right-Wing Motherf*ckers!" "But you know, I don't want to get into a whole partisan politics thing here. Not in this book, anyway. We'll leave that for my next book, I F*cking Hate Those Right-Wing Motherf*ckers!, due out in October 2004. I'm hoping it will 'fire up the troops' for the final weeks of the campaign season." (Al Franken, Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them, p. 115, 2003)

Franken: If You Think President Reagan Was The Greatest President Of The 20th Century, "You're A F*cking Idiot." "I know you're thinking, ‘Wait a minute, Al. Franklin Roosevelt was the greatest president of the century.' And I suppose an argument could be made for FDR. Or Truman, I guess. Or Wilson, Kennedy, or Johnson. Or the other Roosevelt, if you're a Republican. Or Reagan, if you're a f*cking idiot." (Al Franken, Rush Limbaugh Is A Big, Fat Idiot, And Other Observations, 1996, p. 276)

Franken Mocked War Wounded Bob Dole, Comparing Him To One-Armed Murderer In "The Fugitive." "Despite some jokes comparing Dole to the one-armed murderer in the movie 'The Fugitive,' Franken said he has great respect for the senator." (Scott Shepard, "Franken Slings His Comical Mud On Politics," Austin American-Statesman, January 26, 1996)

Franken Jokes That Former Bush Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill Was Murdered. "Confident his audience was conversant with the new book by former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill, which compared Bush to a 'blind man in a roomful of deaf people' during cabinet meetings, Franken opened by saying O'Neill 'was going to come on as a surprise guest. But earlier today, he was murdered.'" (Joe Garofoli, "Liberals Turn To Entertainment To Batter The 'House Of Bush,'" San Francisco Chronicle, January 25, 2004)

Franken Calls Limbaugh Listeners, "F*cking Moron[s]." "Limbaugh listeners thought they were the best informed, yet were the least informed. … But why would people so woefully lacking in the basic facts of an issue think they were the best informed? Social scientists call it "pseudo-certainty." I call it 'being a f*cking moron.'" (Al Franken, Rush Limbaugh Is A Big, Fat Idiot, And Other Observations, 1996, p.16)

Franken: Republican Politicians Are "Shameless Dicks." "Republicans are shameless dicks. No, that's not fair. Republican politicians are shameless dicks." (Al Franken, The Truth (With Jokes), Plume, p. 58, 2006)

Franken On Former Secretary Of State James Baker: "Lying Scumbag." "Like the electoral process itself, I'm not sure that divining the intentions of people you don't know personally can ever be a perfect procedure. But after giving it a great deal of thought, I really have to say (James) Baker is a lying scumbag." (Al Franken, "Trying Really Hard To 'Divine' The Intent Of James Baker's Words," Roll Call, November 16, 2000)

Franken: President Bush Is "Stupid" And "I Hate Him." "Those expecting a polite, impartial view of the events should probably stick with CNN. Franken is a supporter of Al Gore. 'If Bush becomes president, we should all get behind him,' he said. 'Even though he's stupid and I hate him.' And, as he said on the Conan O'Brien show later in the day, even though Bush 'was a business failure and a drunk until he was 40. And even though he did coke.'" (Lloyd Sachs, "Franken Relishes Election Fodder," Chicago Sun-Times, November 17, 2000)

Franken On Karl Rove: "Human Filth." "I couldn't sleep that night. Not from bitterness for having had the election stolen by human filth like Karl Rove, but because I, too, shared the President-elect's vision of a united America, reconciled by our shared dream of a better tomorrow." (Al Franken, Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them, 2003, p. 160)

Franken Chapter Title: "Phil Gramm: Everybody's Favorite Bastard." (Al Franken, Rush Limbaugh Is A Big, Fat Idiot, And Other Observations, 1996, p. 173)

    “extreme makeover”??!?

    ROFLMAO!!!!

NO ONE has had a more “extreme makeover” than Norm “Smokescreeen” Coleman, R=Lapdog.

    NO ONE.

    Michael, I have to agree:

The title of Franken’s next book should be:

    “I (cheney)ing hate those rightwing mother(cheney)ers!”

After all, if Dick (cheney)in’ Cheney can feel proud about telling a senator, in the senate:

“Hey! Senator!! Go (cheney) yourself!!!” and say “it needed to be said”, well, I guess it’s only appropriate Al writes a book that needs to be said, too.

But, the best part of Cheney telling a senator, in the senate, to go (cheney) himself?

It was on the same day the Senate passed The Defense of Decency Act.

You can’t make this kind of (cheney)in’ stuff up….

If they say that about a comedian, I wonder what they’d call MB in 30 years.

Wow, what ever happened to intelligent discussions on this blog? Good lord. This blog isn’t going to draw any comments as long as rabid smacktard uber-lefties pollute the commenting waters with diaper waste.

When did Norm become “Smokescreen” and why? What did I miss?

How does a Senator who votes 38% against party line become a republican lapdog?

See if you can spell out your position using some facts. That would be a great starting point. And no, telling me Al is great because Norm sucks isn’t an argument, just so you know.

    Say, MG?

Weren’t you paying attention, while ol’ Smokescreen was ignoring Haliburton’s price-gouging but investigating that British Member of Parliament?

You know, where he – correctly – identified Norm of conducting “The Mother Of All Smokescreens”??!!?

    You don’t remember that?

Two Shitz – you are the only smoke screen around here – you are like that last guy at a party that wont go home – L’loser.

Nope. Missed that investigation. Link it for me, will ya?

A price gouging government contractor? Well hoowelly sheit! Wow, now that is earth shattering, stop the presses, kinda news! Never heard that one before. Government is such an efficiently run machine I just can’t imagine that ever happening. No wonder you libs want the Big Gov to run everything. Just don’t tell me there is pork barrel spending in congress too because I might die of shock. Nancy P said it was over so it didn’t happen. No, no you MUST be lying. Government spending has always been the best use of my money.

In case you’re slow; that was sarcasm.

Keerisake! You new to this politics thing?

And find me a conservative that is real happy with Norm anyway. He went off task his first week in office.

More than obvious that the left is not happy with Franken as the candidate or there would not be so many lefty trolls here trying to give the guy cover. ;)

Franken is much worse than Ann Coulter with his slash and burn tactics. Only at least Ann is nice to look at, Franken is about an odd looking fellow as one can get. :)

    Say, Man?

    Do your own homework.

That’s the problem with you GreedOverPrinciples types; you’re always trying to get something for nothing!

    http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0505/17/se.01.html

Also, Google ” Galloway Mother Smokescreen Testimony ” and have fun.

Ol’ Smokescreen was Chair of the Investigations Committee, but he’s a lapdog because he made the committee famous for NOT investigating anything.

Real conservatives should be outraged. Norm “Smokescreen” Coleman, R=Lapdog, is but one reason why GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples.
