SOURCES TELL MDE THAT KLOBUCHAR WILL REMAIN NEUTRAL IN 3RD CD ENDORSEMENT RACE; BONOFF WEBSITE, MAILINGS GIVE FALSE IMPRESSION THAT KLOBUCHAR HAS ENDORSED HER CAMPAIGN
By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 17, 2008
I received a tip today from a reader of Minnesota Democrats Exposed that State Senator Terri Bonoff's campaign is using pictures of Bonoff with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar in mailings. I visited Bonoff's website and found a new picture of Bonoff with Klobuchar on the front page.

An endorsement from Klobuchar would be a huge boost to any of the DFL campaigns. But my source informed me that Klobuchar "is NOT supporting anyone. She is staying neutral through the endorsement process." My source added that Klobuchar's office had been contacted today about Bonoff's campaign using Klobuchar's picture.
Now I should add that Bonoff's campaign doesn't claim that Klobuchar has endorsed Bonoff. But Bonoff's campaign is clearly hoping that people get the impression from the pictures that Klobuchar is supporting Bonoff.
Finally, there is still plenty of time for Klobuchar to endorse one of the DFL candidates in the 3rd CD before the endorsing convention. But I'm not sure that she benefits from getting involved in a DFL endorsement fight. An e-mail sent to Bonoff's campaign requesting comment about use of Klobuchar's picture was not returned.

That sounds like Klobuchar. She hasn’t endorsed for US Senate or President either I believe.

Oh come on, you can’t imagine she is anything but a Hillary supporter? She’s not enough of an independent thinker to go against the “inevitable one”, as Hillary liked to think of her campaign.

The DFL is campaigning on “change” – which ironically, is all that will remain of our paychecks when Democrats get through in Washington DC and Saint Paul.

For some reason I look at that picture and cannot help but think of “you can put lipstick on a pig….”

That wig of Bonoff’s is seriously the worst wig I’ve ever seen.

Newton – Good one. I’m going to use that.
Amy hasn’t indorsed yet ’cause no one has told her who to endorse.

This is a huge set back for Bonoff and is an indication of her credibility as a candidate.
If Klobuchar thought Bonoff was strong, and that she was the odds on favorite, she’d have endorsed by now. And now that it appears like she won’t at all, that leads me to believe this façade of inevitability is just that.

Rumors are floating around here that Senator Klobuchar was actually intending to endorse early, but after a few of Senator Bonoff’s bumbling and embarrassing performances recently they pulled back.
I don’t know if the wheels have fallen off this wagon yet, but it certainly seems like things are not going well.
And to have a near endorsement pulled back (if the rumblings are true), is really really bad for her.
And on top of that, she totally over sold her ability to raise money and under performed all expectations by a huge margin, which was amplified by Representative Paulsen raising the kind of money most incumbents would be envious of.
I wonder if the DCCC will even bother with this one.

It doesn’t matter who she endorses since Paulsen is going to be pummeled. Screech II should take a lesson from Screech I.

Cranny, how nice of you to join us here.
I sell tin foil so folks like you keep me in business.
The 3rd is still very conservative and will not be anxious to go DFL at all.
The DFL has not even tried over the last few years to bother with the seat because they know it was hopeless. Ramstead is gone because he was getting grief for not being conservative enough, not very likely a liberal will have a chance.
Welcome and now go lay by your dish.

I don’t believe that rumor on Bonoff without more evidence. Klobuchar is notorious for being very cagey about endorsements. She has been saying she is not endorsing for the Presidential race. There’s no upside for her to do so. My guess is Klobuchar would privately prefer Clinton.
