BLOGS REACT TO AL FRANKEN’S MEAN-SPRIRITED AND UNMINNESOTAN BEHAVIOR

By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 24, 2008

"In this case, though, it seems especially egregious. Fritz just wanted to meet [Al Franken], shake his hand, and had no intention to confront the supposed comedian. Instead of acting with some grace when confronted by the sight of a conservative at Carleton — admittedly a rare event — Franken found it amusing to pick on him in a setting where Franken figured he had the overwhelming advantage over the undergraduate in terms of numbers. It's the same kind of mentality bullies use in middle-school locker rooms to humiliate their victims, and with him mocking Fritz's nervous habits, similar tactics as well." "[Al Franken] has a personality that can charitably be described as volatile, and a mean streak a mile wide. He has a history of getting into physical altercations. One that I narrowly missed observing occurred at the 2004 Republican Convention when he got into a shouting-and-shoving match with a producer of Laura Ingraham's radio show." "After the rally, students posed for photos with Mr. Franken's. Apparently his treatment of one of the conservative students, Peter Fritz, was less than what one would expect from a US Senate candidate. I know Peter. He is the epitome of a knowledgeable, responsible, articulate, intelligent, polite young man. He treats all with respect. According to this write-up in the Mpls. Star Tribune, the same cannot be said of some DFL students nor Mr. Franken." Source: SCSU Scholars, January 24, 2008

"A guy who would lash out at a conservative college student who simply didn't want to have his picture taken with him is not someone who ought to be in the Senate–I hope that the citizens of Minnesota will realize that." Source: RedStateElectic, January 24, 2008

"This ain't New York City, and Minnesotans don't make fun of other people for thinking differently, especially not when they're running for the U.S. Senate." You mean the liberal blogs will not be mentioning this at all? ;)

MN Pooplius I am sure will be looking to bury this story and ban those who would post about it. ;)

And MDE, as always, just mentions rainbows and sunshine.

Do you have to move out of state if you are perceived as mean-spirited?

  3. Big Kahuna Says:
    January 24th, 2008 at 11:45 AM

Gremlin it justs means no one wants an elected politician to be as partisan as Angry Al is. He will cause far more damage than good, this is fact, not something twopudd can argue. ;)

It’s interesting that people complain about a person’s negativity on this site, the mother of all negative sites. Quite sad really. I guess fools of a feather flock together.

Leave it to a leftist to pick on a kid.

I can tell you from direct experience that Al isn’t quite as smug when he is confronted by someone who is not intimidated by a moonbat with a big mouth.

I just wish that I’d have been present to put Al back in his box this time too.

Mark, We are not complaining about a person negativity on this site, we are talking about a very established pattern of a candidate for Senate who is not only known to be a negative person, but is famous for it! ;)

Not to mention years and years of bashing gays, but now wants to state he is for gay marriage. ;) Good thing most in the GLBT community are well educated and now better. :)

You don’t run for public office and behaving like that – not funny one bit.

  8. Chestnut Says:
    January 24th, 2008 at 3:08 PM

Welcome to the den of despair Mark, you fucking ray of sunshine. Reading a turd like you complain about negativity is like listening to a dog bitch about his barking.

You don’t exactly have a ray of sunshine streaming from your ass.

  9. Chestnut Says:
    January 24th, 2008 at 3:13 PM

BTW Mark, folks aren’t complaining about Franken’s negativity. They’re commenting on his rude, crass behavior toward a college kid.

Speaking of birds of a feather… angry turds like you and Al must have a wonderful nest.

  10. Big Kahuna Says:
    January 24th, 2008 at 3:29 PM

Chestnut, you do mean “Angry Al”. ;)

His supporters are hating the “angry” title and folks like twopudd or trying to do all they can to hide that name from readers. Please use it as often as you can. :)

    Thanks Angry Al. :)

He’s asking the conservative student questions? The guy should have asked Franken when he was going to answer any questions from any kind of adversarial press.

  12. Big Kahuna Says:
    January 24th, 2008 at 4:36 PM

Oh no I think the school took away internet privileges for twopudd?

    twopudd??

    twopudd…

    Bueller….

By the way most of the “Tree Huggers” I know have realized that ethanol is a disaster of epic proportions. It is not a bridge to other solution either. Ethanol subsidies make fuel cheaper which causes more consumption rather than encouraging efficiency.

Maybe you should try reading a little before forming opinions. So far you’re batting 0 for everything. Are your poor decision skill the reason you never respond with any factual information?

Now I get it! Twopudd had his ass handed to him at MN pooplius so he is off tending his wounds.

Poor guy, never gets a fact right and cannot keep on topic if his life depended on it. :)

Guess he is just a shrill for the liberal talking points. Hell it seems the guy does no fact chacking, just easier to toss out acusations and name calling when he is proven wrong. Typical Frightened Liberal moonbat. :)

  14. Tony R Says:
    January 24th, 2008 at 8:08 PM

By the end of the campaign “Angry Al” will seem tame considered to “Naked Norm”.

    Let the fun begin!

    Tony, Say what?

You mean confronted by a psychotic methhead like this?

Yeah we’re all methheads. Please help us Lefty Nanny State. We can’t run our lives.
Swiftee is no methhead. What a dumb comment! If you knew him, or even watched his Franken interview posted earlier here, you’d realize that, Finnegan.
Any grounds for your defamation? Continue to hide in anonymity. Franken couldn’t go one one minute with Swiftee or any other hostile
interviewer. Look at how quickly he caved in to self contradiction in the first Minnesota sit down interview, suggesting we cut off funds to the troops. And that was a lefty-friendly interviewer. Oh, this will be fun. Grab the popcorn. Watch now Franken will decline to attend the State Fair out of fear.

What the hell is the problem with Norwegianity? What stick do they have their ass that they won’t let you link to them? I think they are probably jealous of you MDE!

  19. Big Kahuna Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 12:57 PM

Everytime I see that photo of Swiftee, I get a giggle! You just know he would be good fun to watch grill a moonbat. :)

Something tells me twopudd just hates that one. ;)

  20. Swiftee Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 1:06 PM

Say Finnegan? That “bird” was actually for Nick Coleman, but this one’s all yours sport!

BK we should definately hook-up for a team shredding of Al (and any other moonbats within earshot) this year at the Fair!

When his boy handlers attempt to get him away from my “line of fire”, you can flank him!! ;-)

I’m guessing that with the additional “ammo” he’s supplied so far we can goad him into a full blown meltdown…schweet!

  21. Big Kahuna Says:
    January 28th, 2008 at 10:49 AM

    Swiftee would enjoy that greatly!

I had a great time a coule years ago helping the college Republicans deal with the liberal bullies in the crowd. Kind of fun to watch fat out of shape angry liberals try to get physical because they are angry. ;)
