TEAM FRANKEN SCRUBS CRITICAL COMMENTS ABOUT FRANKEN FROM CAMPAIGN’S MYSPACE AND FACEBOOK PAGES

By Michael Brodkorb | January 25, 2008

I think this story is amazing. Al Franken has called Republicans almost every name in the book, but his campaign scrubs comments critical of Franken from their campaign's MySpace and Facebook page. What a wimp!

"Davin Fischer says he doesn't believe in censoring the site.

'We try to look for language,' Fischer says. 'Language is a disqualifier for us, but in terms of open, free debate and discourse; that's what this is all about.'

And even though Fischer says he tries to screen out dirty words, there are some things posted on Coleman's Facebook page that we can't say on the radio.

Schlough [formerly of MN Publius] says the Franken campaign is careful about what it allows on its site.

'We keep an eye on the content,' he says, 'and people can certainly air their voices. But we want to maintain some semblance of control over that content.'

The Franken campaign reviews all comments before they go up, and none of the postings that appear on Franken's MySpace or Facebook pages are critical of him." Source: MPR, January 24, 2008

Click here for the complete story.

###

During the 2006 campaign,  JD Schlough (quoted above) of MN Publius helped create a false story that Mark Kennedy's official website had been scrubbed of references to President Bush. The story pushed by MN Publius was later discredited, as Kennedy's website contained 72 references to President Bush.  National Journal's "Blogometer" even apologized to Congressman Kennedy and his staff for publishing the story.

It would appear that JD, who now works for Team Franken, is the real expert at website scrubbing.

This line made me chuckle: “But we want to maintain some semblance of control over that content.”

To bad they cant maintain some semblance of control over that angry, jackass candidate they work for.

On another note, it’s also a metaphor for their political philosophy. They want to maintain “some semblance of control over” peoples lives… they want to control their speech, their thoughts, their actions… etc.

There’s no greater enemy of freedom and liberty than the modern Democrat party.

Why would we be surprised? Franken himself cannot handle and opposing voices, how can we expect his staff to? ;)

Plus, if it is connected to MN Pooplius, then of course content must be screened. ;)
Zack banned me because I said “Osama, er I mean Obama”. ;)
Try posting something negative about Osama, er I mean Obama and you too will be banned. ;) It seems they did not take well to me telling them that Hillary will be who they are told to vote for. This whole Osama, er I mean Obama thing was nothing but the Clinton’s letting him shine some to take the light off Hillary for a bit, he never really had a shot. :)

  3. Trompo Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 4:11 PM

Are you kidding me Brodkorb? You do the exact same thing on your site. During the Kennedy race, you deleted any comments that were critical of your boss. And, you have always deleted comments here that cross the line with respect to language, etc. Grow up.

  4. Annaheim Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 4:30 PM

    Trompo,

Brodkorb isn’t running to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate. Different standards apply tough guy.

    Grow up.

  5. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 4:30 PM

Trompo: I did nothing of the sort, but nice try.

  6. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 4:49 PM

Good point Annaheim. I think people forget that Al Franken would need to represent both Republicans and Democrats in Washington.

  7. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 4:53 PM

    Good point, Michael.

Tellya what – I’ll remind Al, and you remind John Kline.

  8. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 5:25 PM

    Say, Michael?

If you showed up at a DFL event, and asked for a media kit as a blogger, would you expect to receive one?

  9. Big Max Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 8:06 PM

FRANKEN has more to worry about than this stuff–

Everyone knows there is great anxiety among many DFL’ers who feel that Ciresi and Franken are “high risk” based on electability issues.

There is an attempt to find and field a new candidate to enter who would not have the high negatives or be so unknown to so many. The current focus is on Priscilla Lord Faris (Miles Lord’s daughter) and she has been approached.
I am told that she has it under serious consideration.

I will be surprised if someone not currently on the radar does not enter.

Those who are actively looking for a new candidate are focusing on someone whose profile fits the Klobuchar-Swanson mode— talented, high positives, well-known, life-time political involvement with a solid group of supporters who could put together a credible campaign quickly and effectively.

  10. Trompo Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 8:45 PM

Brodkorb, you are such a hypocritcal and pathetic liar. You know full well that you deleted dozens of my posts that were critical of Mark Kennedy. Remember the You Tube video that asked him to sing the Star Spangled Banner and he couldn’t remember the words? When you worked for Kennedy, you were under strict orders to delete any posts that were critical of Kennedy and you routinely deleted my posts. And, you have commented here before that you have deleted posts that have used inappropriate language. That is your right as owner of this blog and is the right of anyone that has their own webpage.

  11. Cash N Carey Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 9:40 PM

God bless you MDE! Anybody that can give liberals high blood pressure is good in my book. They seem to be as testing as angry Al. As Hillary would say, now the fun starts.

  12. Eva Young Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 10:32 PM

On his blog, the Coleman campaign won’t allow comments unless the person is an identified volunteer and supporter.

On the Friend thing with Franken – how many of those “friends” are local?

  13. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 10:39 PM

Eva: I think anyone can sign-up and leave a comment. Team Franken doesn’t allow critical comments to appear on Franken’s pages.

  14. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 9:43 AM

Michael, I think ya missed this question, asked earlier:

    TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 25th, 2008 at 5:25 pm

    Say, Michael?

If you showed up at a DFL event, and asked for a media kit as a blogger, would you expect to receive one?

  15. I Have a Question Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 10:46 AM

    Michael,

If “anyone can sign-up and leave a comment,” why is the comments section on ColemanforSenate.com called Supporters’ Comments?

Indeed, when I click the “Post a Comment” link, I get this message:

“You must be a ColemanforSenate.com Volunteer to post a Blog Comment. Please click here to signup today.”

So when you said “anyone can sign-up and leave a comment” were you lying or does “anyone” mean “any Coleman volunteer” to you? That’s great.

According to you — and Senator Coleman? — only the voices of their volunteers matter to them, only their volunteers need to be heard and represented.

  16. Chestnut Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 10:54 AM

Hey jackass… anyone can sign up as a Coleman volunteer.

Are you liberals this stupid naturally? Or do you get together as a squad for practice?

  17. Eva Young Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 12:17 PM

From the Coleman for Senate website:

You must be a ColemanforSenate.com Volunteer to post a Blog Comment.

    http://www.colemanforsenate.com/blog/postcomments.aspx?id=35

Please click here to signup today.

If you are already a volunteer,
please click here to sign in.

    # Chestnut Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 10:54 am

Hey jackass… anyone can sign up as a Coleman volunteer.

Are you liberals this stupid naturally? Or do you get together as a squad for practice?

EY: Signing up as a volunteer implies that one supports Coleman. Are you suggesting that Democrats who oppose Coleman, or people who aren’t sure about the race sign up as Coleman volunteers to comment on the blog? Campaigns always sign up “moles” to check out opponent campaigns – but are you officially promoting the practice?

  19. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 12:31 PM

Eva: The issue is whether people can leave comments on Senator Coleman’s campaign blog. They can. Team Franken does not allow people to leave a comment on their blog…nor do they allow negative comments to appear on their campaign’s MySpace or Facebook pages.

People can leave a comment on Senator Coleman’s blog saying they don’t want to be labeled as a volunteer.

  20. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 12:45 PM

You’re not ducking the question, are ya?

Would you expect to receive a media kit?

  21. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 2:02 PM

It really depends on the situation…why do you ask?

  22. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 2:18 PM

Because I’m going to Paulsen’s announcement.

And I’m wondering if the SD42 Extremists will give a “liberal/leftist/socialist FRENCH FRY eatin’ APPEASER (and, ‘traitor’ to boot!)” like me a media kit.

If you showed up at, say, Hovland’s announcement, would you expect to get the press kit?

  23. Chestnut Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 3:25 PM

Eva said: “Are you suggesting that Democrats who oppose Coleman, or people who aren’t sure about the race sign up as Coleman volunteers to comment on the blog?”

Are you suggesting that there’s some barrier to someone signing up, and posting? … or are you just changing the subject.

  24. Eva Young Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 3:28 PM

Michael – I’m sorry, a Coleman Volunteer is a supporter – so comments on Coleman’s blog are limited to Coleman Supporters.

And what you are telling people, is they can go sign up and lie to the Coleman campaign, saying they want to volunteer, then leave a comment on the blog saying they are not a Coleman volunteer. I’m sorry, that doesn’t make much sense. Do these “volunteers” get included, when the Coleman Campaign touts how many “volunteers” they have in their campaign.

It’s rather notable that there are very few – if any, comments on Norm Coleman’s blog.

  25. Chestnut Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 3:29 PM

Hey 2Pud… for the record, I would expect you to get a media kit if you asked for it… It’s not like media kits are extra special or something… My guess is that most campaigns post their media kits to their Web sites. If they don’t, they should… that way ignorant Leftist fascist losers like you don’t even have to show up to get one.

  26. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 4:11 PM

Eva: You seemed confused by previous comment. Here it is again:

The issue is whether people can leave comments on Senator Coleman’s campaign blog. They can. Team Franken does not allow people to leave a comment on their blog…nor do they allow negative comments to appear on their campaign’s MySpace or Facebook pages.

People can leave a comment on Senator Coleman’s blog saying they don’t want to be labeled as a volunteer.

  27. Chestnut Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 4:25 PM

What’s laughable is the idea Eva seems to have that lying is something distasteful to liberals… in fact, lying is all that liberals do. Dishonest to the core is a manifest trait of the DFL.

  28. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 5:09 PM

    Chestnut, you got typos.

Fortunately for you, I’m here to help!

What’s laughable is the idea that lying is something distasteful to psuedo-Cons… in fact, lying is all that republiCons do. Dishonest to the core is a manifest trait of the GOP, which is why GOP now stands for “GreedOverPrinciples”.

  29. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 5:36 PM

So, Michael – you have no opinion on whether or not bloggers should get midia kits, or what?

  30. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 6:26 PM

    TPT: Are you a blogger?

  31. Eva Young Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 9:47 PM

Team Franken doesn’t allow comments. Coleman restricts comments to volunteers, or those who will lie and say they are volunteers in order to comment.

  32. Eva Young Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 9:47 PM

I believe TPT is one of the bloggers on MN Blue.

  33. Eva Young Says:

Chestnut: Eva said: “Are you suggesting that Democrats who oppose Coleman, or people who aren’t sure about the race sign up as Coleman volunteers to comment on the blog?”

Are you suggesting that there’s some barrier to someone signing up, and posting? … or are you just changing the subject.

EY: Telling people they must be a volunteer to post is a barrier. Some people might not want to sign up as a Coleman volunteer. And no, I’m not changing the subject – I’m just pointing out that both campaigns restrict comments. In the Franken case, no comments, in the Coleman case, only volunteers may comment.

  34. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    January 26th, 2008 at 10:28 PM

Eva is trying to confuse and change the subject. Nobody is restricted from commenting on Coleman’s blog. Nobody is allowed to comment on Franken’s blog.

    It’s that simple.

  35. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    January 27th, 2008 at 8:14 AM

Here is that question, that Michael continues to ignore:

    No, dogbreath, Michael didn’t.

Here’s a question he has NOT answered:

Do try to keep up, will ya dogbreath?

  40. Pete Says:

  41. Honeydog Says:
    January 28th, 2008 at 3:31 AM

Try again NoBrainCell, again, he did answer it with this:

“It really depends on the situation…why do you ask?”

I realize it was just one line, and dimwits such as yourself are BLIND and STUPID, but it was answered.

So NoBrainCell, YOU try to keep up. By the way, spreading any more lies about what ALL of the people in Eden Prairie are saying. I’m really interested as an Eden Prairie resident to hear what words you are trying to put in our mouths this time.

  42. Big Kahuna Says:

Twopudd is not a blogger. he is either a recent student of Eden Prairie High school or one of their rather liberal young teachers, not sure which yet, but judging by his posts I would be he is just a kid.

As you can see be any or all of his posts, he is trolling at best to get reactions from folks here. Notice he never links any facts nor does he even try to discuss what the topic is, he runs around cutting liberal talking points and pastes them here.

He likes to use name calling and such to try and get his reaction. He is a keyboard worrior wannbe tough guy liberal all of which would be an oxymoron. ;)

He does represent what much of the democRat party is today which is the party of hate. Just plain blind hate of that which he does not understand.

Go lay by your dish Twopudd. :)

Pete, It is called selective censorship. He censors what he wants. When he was working for Kennedy, he was ordered to censor any post that was anti-Kennedy. So, I continue to post here because I know he selectively censors.

I don’t use inflammatory or offensive language in my posts so I never worry about him censoring me for that reason. But, he has acknowledged in the past that he censors posts for that reason as well.

  47. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:

TwoPuke, but “why do you ask”? That answer you gave is most likely dishonest (yes, I’ve read many of your posts so it is fairly obvious) and doesn’t really answer the question. You were asking about Michael getting a media kit which has nothing to do with you getting one. Since he is a professional and your just a jerk off there would be no reason for you to get a media kit. So, I’m asking now, why would you ask that question? Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you…

How about this, when myself or someone like say swiftee meets you at the state fair when we are there to grill Angry Al, will you you be able to look me in the eyes or will you be a bit lower and reading the tag on my pants. ;)

You are a small little internet troll. You have yet to ever stay on topic let alone actually be able to denfend any of your positions.

You answer all the time with a question twopudd, funny you do not like it back at you. ;)

I also get a kick out of all your name calling. I have zero doubt you are a insecure small man who wished he was bigger and could be a tough guy. My guess is you walk around fairly upset all the time and wish you could say something more about it, but since I believe you to be a small and weak man(possible even a young woman with a nasty attitude) that knows they cannot say shit out and about due to the fact if you spoke to most people to their face, they would not allow you to use some of the names you do.

You are a little troll hoping to get a reaction, and I kind of hope you get a good one some day. ;)

Speakin’ o’ Eden Prairie, did ya see how Erik “New! And Improved” Paulsen just claimed to have “years of bipartisanship in the lege.”

    You actually believe that, doncha?

Who said anything about sniffing butts? Oh yeah, NoBrainCell did. That must mean he’s the one doing it because he’s the one talking about it.

And since I didn’t hear or read anything about Paulsen from a CREDIBLE source, I don’t know that he even said it. NoBrainCell certainly isn’t a credible source.

We know for sure if a Demoncrat says he’s bipartisan that statement will be light years away from the truth.

And since I didn’t hear or read anything about Paulsen from a CREDIBLE source,

Why is that, dogface? Perhaps it’s because the braindrain at Team “New! And Improved!!” scheduled a major announcement, by a major candidate, for a major race, at a MINOR LEAGUE time??!?

Here’s what folk in Eden Prairie, will be reading today:

    ***
At the end of his speech, Erik Paulsen stated:

“I will not be out-hustled in this campaign.”

Clearly, those that look into Erik Paulsen’s past – his verifiable record – and compare that to what Erik Paulsen said on Sunday, can only conclude that Erik Paulen is indeed a hustler.

    Because he certainly isn’t believable.

    Say, dogface?

You and Paulsen got somethin’ in common; you’re not believable either.
