EXCUSES, EXCUSES: FRANKEN BLAMES DFL LEGISATOR’S HEARING FOR CLAIMS THAT HE “HOPED” TO SEEK SIERRA CLUB’S ENDORSEMENT

By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 4, 2008

Al Franken sure know has to adds insult to injury. First his campaign runs away from a commitment to seek the endorsement of the Sierra Club and now Franken insults Representative David Dill by suggesting that Dill didn't hear him right because he was out shooting guns with his kid:

"Franken believes he has strong support on the Iron Range, including the endorsement of the Steelworkers. He also has the backing of West Range legislators Sen. Tom Saxhaug, DFL-Grand Rapids, and Rep. Tom Anzelc, DFL-Balsam Township.

But Sen. Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, and Rep. David Dill, DFL-Crane Lake, have endorsed Ciresi, voicing concerns about Franken on mining, economic development and land use issues. Dill said he specifically asked Franken if he would seek the Sierra Club’s endorsement. 'He said he hoped to (seek it),' Dill said.

'I just don't think he heard me right. I was talking with him while he was at a shooting competition with his son. I don’t intend to seek the Sierra Club endorsement,' Franken said." Source: Mesabi Daily News, February 2, 2008

Franken has been making waves lately with his behavior.  First, he verbally attacks a college student young enough to be his child.  Second, he essentially says a respected member of his own party is mistaken and didn't hear him correctly.

Good luck on bringing the party back together again, Al!
