It looks like the DFL is up to their old tricks of hiding their plans to raise taxes on Minnesotans. This press conference was on Monday, before Democrats released their transportation plan filled with massive tax increases.

Let’s face facts. The DFL is picking up right where they left off. The good news is that we’re protected by Gov. Pawlenty’s Taxpayer Protection Pen.

Then why don’t the reporters do their job and keep asking?
What good does it do to whine about it?
The press basically is lazy. Take for example the “mortgage crisis”. The majority of those who defaulted on home loans simply bit off more than they could chew. Has anyone reported that?

More to the point Newton… the “mortgage crisis” affects less than 1 percent of all mortgages… And they involve people who borrowed more than they had, and didn’t read the papers… and financiers who made too many really stupid lending decisions.
Anyway, this is about Democrat distortion… I’m looking for the phrases “there were few details…” or “it was unclear just what these proposals would cost taxpayers…”, etc. about the Democrat “plan”… you know damn well they’d describe a GOP proposal that way…

All that blonde dame on channel 2 does is giggle.
It’s funny though that the Star and Tribune is criticizing Pawlenty for a lack of basics in yesterday’s state of the state speech, but nothing about the Democrats’ empty plans.
I wouldn’t put much stock in the Star and Tribune though: lying about their circulation numbers, stealing parts of an editorial from a NY newspaper, hiring a publisher away from the Pioneer Press who then stole classified documents.
Lousy and declining circulation numbers, staff cutbacks, the list goes on.
And we should care what the newspaper thinks?

If the Governor wants no increase in spending, he should call off this session completely. That means a suspension of his salary and that of the entire State Government for the rest of the year. A complete shutdown to avoid the spending of any monies whatsoever.
Like that will go over big!!!

I am shocked. This is the top story today? I fully expected to see coverage of the latest KSTP poll. Surely all of Brodkorb’s great efforts to expose Al over the last few months must have really caused Coleman to open up a big lead over Franken. Brodkorb is so good at what he does that he must have gotten Coleman back to that 22 point lead he had over Franken a few months ago.
Hmmm…guess I’ll check back in a few minutes to see the good news about Coleman. I can’t wait.

The governor can’t just end the legislative session. Only the legislature can. How about you have a clue what you’re talking about before you make yourself look foolish.
Like Newton, I’d like the Star and Sickle’s standard to apply to Barack Hussein Obama as well. Let’s see some details from him, too.
I’m annoyed with this Lahammer woman. She’s the media. It’s her JOB to get that information from politicians. If she’s not willing or able to do it, fire her and get a reporter with a spine.

I have a Home Based business as a Professional Seamstress doing Custom Made Period Clothing and Alterations. I have more work to do and ahead of me than I can shake a stick at from clients all around the Country. The Alterations I do collects the Sales Taxes. With Prom and Wedding season underway, I will keep busy as ever. People need what I provide.

What do you claim the Democrats are hiding? Seems to me they had a big press conference on the first day to detail their transportation plan which has increased taxes.
The 3/8 of 1% bill has increased taxes in it. I don’t see anyone hiding from that or agruing about that, do you?
Seems to me the Democrats are the only ones being honest about Minnesota’s budget challenges, unlike our Governor who just blows smoke.

Both sides need to lay it on the table. I want to repair bridges and fix our roads. Transportation is nuts! We waste so much gas and time sitting in traffic jams.
Repubs should stop expecting our grandchildren to pay for everything (bonding) and Dems should stop asking for the moon (stadiums, bike trails, etc).
Real solutions – in our lifetime – with methods to pay for them.
I personally believe that no one should be able to propose a bill unless they have a firm statement attached that shows the budget impact and how the item is to be paid for – not bonded forward – but paid for. If you want your grandchildren to pay for it, just say so in plain English so everyone can understand. If you have to raise a tax to pay for it, make your case and lobby for it. If it truly makes sense, people will agree.

Markon not true!! What is going on is very carefully worded press releases so they can clain this was for roads and bridges, yet dig into it and you will find once again they are diverting most of the money to their union friends in mass transit.
The DFL would raise taxes and once again next to nothing will be built for additional roads.
It is the DFL’s plan to starve the budget for roads and bridges so people will be FORCED into transit to get around at all. It has been this way for years here now.
It is a VERY SMALL portion of the population that bothers with mass transit and once again the DFL will find the majority does not support more trains and wasteful transit spending. They are as bad as education Mn and the waste there!

Sorry Big Kahuna, but the majority of the new money would not go towards funding transit. I know you along with the GOP spin machine will keep pushing your garbage, hoping people buy it, but it’s simply not true.
The majority of money will go to fund roads, bridges and bridge repair. Transit is certainly part of the bill, but in no way does it dominate the bill.

Markon, The Democrats always use the word “intent” when they write their bills. In the end, one finds that “intent” never resembles nor comes close to resembling the final outcome of the legislation for now or in the future.

The capitol press whores are whining because they didn’t have their stories spoon-fed to them at a press conference. Now, they might actually have to crawl out of their little caves beneath the capitol and dig for something. Maybe even conduct an interview or two. Unfortunately, these lazy POSs wouldn’t know how to dig for a story if their lives depended on it.

Markon, I trust you are going to link to something proving where those funds would go? I am going off history of what has happened, not by what a political party tells me.
The DFL does not believe in spending on roads and bridges unless it somehow applies to mass transit. This is fact by the history of DFL actions.
