BREAKING NEWS: OBAMA CAMPAIGN ROCKED BY CHARGES OF PLAGIARISM BY FELLOW DEMOCRATS

By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 18, 2008

I wouldn’t normally post this video, but it was too delicious to pass up. I wonder what MN Publius (AKA MN Obama) thinks about Obama getting caught plagiarizing a speech?

This story will creating a feeding frenzy to find other instances of Obama lifting material. Remember, it is Obama’s fellow Democrats who are making the charges of plagiarism and not Republicans.

It is exactly what I have been telling the boys at MN Pooplius, the Clinton machine was never really going let Osama, er I mean Obama a real chance to win. The big guns are comming and our liberal friends best get used to the idea that their party is in fact under control of an elite few who decide who will and will not be a candidate. If Osama, er I mean Obama plays nice, Monica Lewinski’s ex-boyfriend wife may allow him to be the house, er I mean a VP spot. ;)

If that’s the best the Clinton war room can produce now, it must be being staffed by Rumsfield.

Kahuna every time you mention Osama, it reminds he is still it out there free after what 7 years now?!?! Bush is worthless.

I forwarded this thread to a good friend of mine in the party. I will see what she has to say about it.

Patrick and Obama have advisors in common, and they were lifting lines from JFK, FDR, and the Declaration of Independence. I am no fan of Obama or his empty rhetoric, but this is really nothing.

  5. Jeff Fecke Says:
    February 18th, 2008 at 11:53 AM

Given that Deval Patrick specifically offered this line to Obama, I think it’s impossible to call this plagiarism. Or even wrong.

  6. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    February 18th, 2008 at 12:13 PM

Jeff: I’d encourage you to contact Senator Clinton’s campaign.

As Shakespeare titled one of his comedies….MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.

  8. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:

Jeff: It would appear that Senator Obama thinks he did something wrong. The Politico has published this quote from Obama: “‘I’m sure I should have’ given credit to Patrick.”

  9. Drew Emmer Says:

The emotionalism behind Obamas meteoric rise in support suggests that it would take a dozen scandals like the one suggested here to even cause the public to notice let alone care.

Obama is form over substance every day of the week. And the public is eating it up.

No net effect on Obama. And a likely backlash if the Clintonians get too cheeky with teh palgiarism charge.

    Jeff,

I read the article. Good one. Nothing illegal is taking place here. Looks like Gov. Patrick, and Obama supporter, gave Sen. Obama his blessing to use snippets of his speech. Good for him.

It’s just Sen. Clinton going on the defensive because she is lagging in polls to Obama in Wisconsin, Ohio and Texas, thus trying to put a damper on his momentum. Her campaign is in a spot of trouble with voters and she knows it.

Michael!! Do you think Democrats are stupid to think that you are on to something here???

Might not be wrong or plagiarism Feckless (but might be), but it certainly provides just another example of the empty suit issue that will plague the Obama candidacy.

At some point, during the middle of a very serious war and very serious times generally, Americans are are going to choose being safe over an orator who doesn’t appear to have an original thought. (or even a substantive non-original thought)

    But we’ll see.

    February 18th, 2008 at 12:51 PM

    Gee whiz!!!

Obama writes two very thought provoking books, yet DiDfTL says he “doesn’t appear to have an original thought” in his head? Hmmm!!!

  13. Steph Says:

Isn’t Jeff Fecke the same guy who has some falsification issues in the recent past on his blog?

Could someone remind us of the specifics on that issue?

A better example of Pliagarism would be if Obama had written a book, for example, used PUBLISHED WRITTEN words of someone else without permission from the author of said written word and passed it as his own, that would be Pliagarism.

Unless this particular speech was published in written word, given a Copyright date and Library of Congress ID thus claiming legal ownership, then there is no case.

  16. Pat Says:
    February 18th, 2008 at 3:02 PM

Wow, this is not “plagiarizing a speech” as Joe Biden infamously did in 1987. This is responding to a similar charge that Patrick (one of his endorsers and advisors) faced in a similar way, with his explicit permission.

Want to read about plagiarism? Here you go.

  17. Lucien Begworthy Says:
    February 18th, 2008 at 3:40 PM

How do we know he had permission? More likely is that he used the lines and Patrick, being a supporter of Obama (and in the same state as the Kennedy’s who control Massachusetts Democrats) doesn’t want to extend the issue further. With today’s public education system, maybe Obama should just steal complete speeches and no one will ever know. Also, to say he wrote two books and that should be proof of his intelligence, I will just say this: ghostwriter.

  18. kathy Says:

There’a another way to look at this….

“I have a Dream”…MLK. In which a man shares his thoughts with an entire country.

“We hold these truths to be self evidfent all men are created equal”…The FF. That WE are created equal in the eyes of God.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”…FDR. That failing to take action results in nothing.

Are they just words?? Or a relevant philosophy to change one’s outlook reagarding others and work towards a better country? How often over the years have these words been repeated over and over by people in political speeches? Then those who have uttered these “words” are pliagarists as well as Hillary Clinton.

    There is no case here.

Big K: When are you going to grow up? Still scared about Obama’s middle name? Don’t get out much, do ya? It’s a big world out there, fella, and our nation is full of diversity–get used to it and come to the light…detoxify yourself from years of Neocon bullshit…South Dakota is calling ya–bye, bye!!!
