DFL STRIPS AUTOMATIC GAS TAX INCREASE FROM TRANSPORTATION BILL
By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 19, 2008
"Minnesota's gas tax won't increase automatically after all.
Senate Transportation Committee Chair Steve Murphy, DFL-Red Wing, today said he and the House sponsor of a massive highway and transit funding bill have agreed to drop a provision that would have automatically increased the state gas tax at the same rate as the consumer price index. The tax would have risen without a vote by the Legislature." Source: Pioneer Press, February 18, 2008

They call this a compromise? There’s still seven billion dollars of new taxes in the bill. That’s like only taking nine dollars out of my pocket instead of ten and calling it justice.
Oh, and maybe they did this to get enough DEMOCRAT votes. Ever think of that?
