MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “REPUBLICAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA FILES FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST WITH NEW YORK STATE REGARDING AL FRANKEN’S BREAKING OF WORKERS’ COMP LAW”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 6, 2008

St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today filed a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request with the state of New York’s Worker’s Compensation Board regarding Al Franken's breaking of the state’s workers’ compensation law.

"Al Franken now says he will finally pay the $25,000 he owes for breaking the state of New York’s workers' compensation law.  Franken still hasn't given Minnesotans an explanation for his law breaking, and simply writing out a check for $25,000 and hoping the issue goes away isn't going to cut it.  Average Minnesotans who play by the rules, follow the laws and accept responsibility for their actions demand some answers. Given Franken's refusal to address his law breaking, and his efforts to pretend he knew nothing about this issue, today I filed a Freedom of Information request with the state of New York to try and get some answers.

Please read the complete release after the page break.

A PRIVATE political group in Minnesota (MN GOP), investigates a PRIVATE corporation in New York (Al Franken, Inc.), by asking a PUBLIC GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY of New York.

This kind of PRIVATE-PUBLIC PARTNERSHIP sounds like a GAS. . .tax attack… part of the Republican Community Bath Soap Opera – Come Clean.

No, el presidente, this is the left’s standard operating procedure. Go after a poltical person by using a government agency. The left has been doing it for years. Finally, the GOP is getting into the game. Good for them!

The MN GOP does not believe in Freedom of Information for its own house, so this is amusing. I am a Republican, have been my entire life, ran for office as a Republican, served as senate district chair twice, yada yada, and this current batch of leadership is doing more to shrink the party than I’ve seen put together in my sixteen plus years.
