MESABI DAILY NEWS: “WORKER’S COMP ISSUE SURFACES IN FRANKEN CAMPAIGN”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 10, 2008
"The same day the Al Franken for Senate committee was putting out a news release touting another union endorsement, campaign officials were trying to put out a political firestorm over a workers compensation issue.
It was reported Wednesday that the state of New York fined Franken’s personal corporation $25,000 for not carrying workers compensation insurance for almost three years. The fine was levied in August 2006 for the corporation's failure to pay workers compensation insurance from June 2002 to March 2005. Notices that were sent to a New York address listed for Franken did not get a response, said officials of the Workers Compensation Board.
A spokeswoman for the Franken campaign, Jess McIntosh, said in a telephone interview that the issue 'is being looked into as fast as possible' and that Franken did not become aware of the unpaid fine until Tuesday. She said Franken himself was 'out of touch' and not able to comment directly on the matter on Wednesday.
The story was first reported on a Web site that is favorable to Minnesota Republican U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, who Franken hopes to battle on Election Day in November." Source: Mesabi Daily News, March 5, 2008

One of my favorite parts of this article is when McIntosh says Franken is "out of touch" when she meant unreachable.
