ONE WEEK LATER, MORE QUESTIONS FOR TEAM FRANKEN: FRANKEN VOTED IN NEW YORK DURING TIME WORKERS’ COMP BOARD SENT NOTICES
By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 12, 2008
According to published reports, Team Franken told the media that Al Franken had moved to Minnesota from New York near the time the State of New York starting sending notices that Franken needed to provide workers' compensation for his corporation's employees. I suspect that Team Franken's theory was that if Franken's home was in Minnesota, he may not know what's going on in New York.
"Barr said Franken and his wife moved from New York to Minnesota around the time the fine was imposed. He said Franken established the corporation to receive payments for speeches, royalty checks from his TV and movie roles and other income." Source: Associated Press, March 5, 2008

"[Franken's] campaign, which said the fine could be an error, acknowledged to reporters that he only discovered the matter after it was reported by a blogger.
His campaign said the repeated notices from New York were sent to his address there, while Mr. Franken had moved back to Minnesota. The campaign said the fine will be paid from his company funds, not out of campaign money." Source: Washington Times, March 12, 2008

Franken began receiving notices from the Workers' Compensation Board in April 2005:
"The Workers' Compensation Board began sending Franken notices in April 2005 after discovering that the insurance hadn't been paid for nearly three years.
Officials first sought an explanation. Receiving no response, they sent a penalty notice to Franken in June 2005 that outlined rights to appeal.
The state then turned to a collection agency to reach Franken. When that didn't work, the state tried again in July 2006. Penalty statements were sent in August and December of 2006 and March 2007, Keegan said." Source: Star Tribune, March 4, 2008

As I have written before, I believe Franken was still living in New York when the notices were being sent to him that he needed to provide workers' compensation for his corporation's employees. But now the plot has thickened.
Public voting records from the New York City Board of Elections show that Al Franken voted in both the primary and general elections in New York in 2005. Even if Franken voted absentee, his voter registration address matches the address used by the Workers' Compensation Board.
If Franken had moved to Minnesota, why was he voting in elections in New York?
Franken was voting in New York elections while the State of New York was sending notices to his New York address that he needed to provide workers' compensation insurance.

Brilliant work, Michael. Absolutely brilliant.
I posted here that “I find it difficult to believe that (a) an accountant wouldn’t bring that to Franken’s attention or (b) his accountant wouldn’t notice this.”
Michael’s reporting is proof that Franken is either lying about moving or that he voted illegally in NYC. Either way, this won’t help him this November. (If he makes it that far.)

You could have video of him pulling the voting booth lever and Democrats aren’t going to care. The only thing they care about is ideological purity. The fact he’s an angry slimeball hypocrite doesn’t matter as long as he’ll vote their way.

Democrats don’t matter. Will the independents vote for this slime ball?

Pete, That’s exactly right. You’ve absolutely nailed it. Besides, I’d bet that alot of Democrats that don’t subscribe to the Fever Swamp will be repulsed by Franken’s behavior.
People that were true Wellstone Democrats know that Paul Wellstone was a man of integrity & decency. These same people know that if you played a word association game with Franken’s name, integrity & decency wouldn’t be the first adjectives they’d think of.

I would actually vote…and campaign…for Franken if he would do this first. Open a bar or restaurant in Minnesota. No outside funding. Start on a shoestring budget and make a go of it. Deal with gov’t inspection. All employment taxes. Other taxes. Regulations. Insurance. And lawsuits. (heh, maybe Cerisie can sue Frankens business for something). Employee theft. Robbery. And no sugar daddys like he had for Air America.

MDE,
You appear to have the records that show that Franken voted in New York in 2005.
Are there any records here in Minnesota that would indicate whether Franken voted here in 2005?
Just wondering….

Beware of those who claim they may have special knowledge of voting records in Frostbite Falls, Minnesota.
