ON NATIONAL TV, FRANKEN TAKES A DIG AT CIRESI WHILE ON LETTERMAN
By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 18, 2008
"Franken called his prospects for getting the DFL endorsement 'very good' and noted that his 'chief rival,' attorney Mike Ciresi, recently dropped out of the race, although he still faced 'another gentleman … who I like very much' — college Prof. Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer.
'Why did the guy drop out?' Letterman asked. 'Whores?'
'I really don't know, but I don't think so,' Franken said." Source: Star Tribune, March 18, 2008

Come on – how about winning with class. You "don't think" that Mike Ciresi dropped out because of "whores?"

Good gosh, do you honestly have no sense of sarcasm? Or do you take every single word that comes out of any person’s mouth dead seriously? Anybody who thinks this is a story is either a) assuming people are too stupid to recognize sarcasm, b) extremely gullible, or c) plain stupid themselves.
I mean come on. Franken taking a shot at a college student? Definitely a story. But this? Very VERY desparate. Shows how poor a choice we have in this election between two bad candidates (Franken and Coleman).

And keep in mind I never said the remark was funny. Just because you don’t think something is funny doesn’t mean you can’t recognize sarcasm. That’s part of the reason why I’m not a Franken fan. I know he has a very sarcastic sense of humor, I’ve just never found him very funny. Or offensive either. His jokes just comes off as a “meh” to me.

He’s a candidate for the Senate of the United States of America – YES, I take every word that comes from him mouth seriously.
If I can’t take every word that comes from the mouth of a candidate for the Senate of the United States of America seriously then he needs to withdraw. He’s not running for Chief Comedian, he’s running for a serious office.
Serious people need only apply. Angry Al is not only NOT funny, he’s not a serious candidate with the maturity to handle the job.
He’s a clown.

Well, except ol’ Smokescreen has no cajones.

I like the sarcasm. Remember, it was Lettermen who said, “whores”. At least there are some Democrats who can poke fun at recent events. We need a little bit of humor in today’s highly charged political landscape.
I would never vote for him. If he won, the joke would be on the state of Minnesota. Except for Rod Grams, the history of our Senate delegation is one we can be proud of. Thank god we do not have a Dick Durbin, Ted Kennedy or Ted Stevens representing our state.

Hey Chet… if you take every word a seriously, please decipher what Norm meant by…
“I am a Wellstone Democrat”
“I am a Clinton Democrat”
“I am a Bush Republican”

MDE. (head shakes). MDE. (sigh).

Just going along with the joke was easier than saying “Cerisi wasn’t far enough left for all the nutjobs at our endorsing conventions.”

I’m too busy trying to figure out what the hatefilled Angry “Comedian” is trying to say through his “satire” to worry about tired, old Coleman “quotes”. At least he saw the light, Angry Al can’t see past his nutjob blinders.

Tim, you forgot Mark Dayton. He was a laughing stock in the Senate by his own Democratic Senators. He did nothing and all of his proposals were defeated, mostly by his own Democrates.

Pigpen, not much different than Wellstone in that regard. Those crazy liberals sure do love their politicians to make a lot of noise and get little done.
As long as the hate in their heart is right, the liberals love them.

wow, you are a douche

Oh yes, I forgot about him. Forgive me, I was living in Arizona at the time. You know the place that has 1/2 the property tax, 1/2 the income tax and a legislature that understands that it has to live within a budget.

Did you watch Franken on Letterman, or you taking what the Star Tribune wrote in its article as the “complete story”? If you watched the show, you saw Al Franken say that he believed Ciresi dropped out of the race because his campaign had not progressed as he had hoped. Seems like a very “classy” response to me. Perhaps you can post a youtube of this response for all to see. That way the truth would be “exposed”.

Here is a youtube of the first part of Franken’s appearance on the Letterman show. The part where they discuss the Senate race (and Ciresi dropping out) is between 4:00 and about 4:40. Judge for yourself.

Again Michael, your spin has a great way of turning around and biting you in the ass.
