American Future Fund and Iowa Future Fund were both registered on 8/7/07 by Jessica Young, an employee of Holtzman Vogel, a VA law firm. HV is owned by the very influential and powerful Republican operatives, Alex Vogel and his wife, Jill Holtzman Vogel.

I suspect that AFF and IFF are , in part, being funded by Iowan businessman, Bruce "Mr. Ethanol" Rastetter.

After reading about AFF and IFF at the TPM Muckraker, I did some research on the two entities that I posted at the TPMM Cafe and Daily Kos. Follow the link!

This is a great issue ad about Senator Coleman. The message is perfect and this ad is bad news for Team Franken.

Yeah, nothing like exploiting the death of Americans for political gain, kinda like Bush and Rove used 9/11 to get elected in '04.

The only thing I am scared of is more lying Republicans in office.

Senateguru.com makes a great point, not once in there do they say he is a Republican. The best way to counter this ad would be a 5 second ad saying, Norm Coleman is a Republican, havent they ruined the country enough? Hell, it'd only be 5 seconds, buy a 30 second ad block and play it on repeat 6 times, that'd sure remind people he is a big ole Republican, which is not exactly a plus these days.

Paulsen's toast, too.

His Press Release, when he announced, says - and I quote:

"Paulsen launches this bid after years of working in a bipartisan fashion, across the aisle, to get results inn the business world and in the Minnesota legislature."

Kennedy blew his credibility "right" away; now ol' Smokescreen and The Hustler have, too.

As was pointed out, Kennedy's first ad was a reaching across the aisle and he fell on his face come November.

Granted, this ad is not paid for by Coleman, but it's the same thing. Don't alienate your base more than you have already. You need them to come out and vote for you.

Hey! Seems some of the rightwingnuts already ARE cllin' ol' Smokescreen a RINO.

Support Sen. Coleman or not?

By Rich Glennie

In a rare show of public discontent, some of the leaders of the McLeod County Republican Party showed their displeasure with U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and indicated to district and state party officials that they might not campaign for Coleman if he is endorsed for re-election this year.

In response, Eric Haapala, chairman of the 7th District Republicans, shot back stating it was the duty of the Republican leadership, even at the county level, to bury personal feelings and back Republican candidates.

The issue boiled to the surface Saturday morning at the McLeod County Republican Convention in Silver Lake. When the heated discussion was over, neither side yielded. No endorsement vote came up.

The battle line was drawn over Coleman's voting record in the U.S. Senate that angered five of the eight county Republican executive board members enough to sign a letter sent to Coleman Oct. 12, 2007.

"Your voting record is disappointing to say the least," the letter stated. "Reviewing some of your votes within the last month, we wonder if you have forgotten that you are a Republican and not a Democrat."

And to point out that he worked to get funding for the bridge, it gives him way too much credit. Any joe-schmo who occupied one of our Senate seats would've worked to get the funding for the bridge. To give him credit for something anyone would've done is crap.

And I hate outside 527 groups, I guess it means that Tom Harkin is 100% if Iowa republicans are going to be working on our race. I guess it counters Franken having NYC, LA, and SF fund his race instead of Minnesota.

Wrong.

When republiCons do something like that, that's because it's the "right" thing to do.

When the DFL does it, it's because they're liberal/leftist/socialist FRENCH FRY eatin' APPEASERS.

Which, of course, only goes to show, once again, why GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples.

But, the REAL POINT of that ad, shows that ol' Smokescreen is a RINO..

I wonder when the rightwingnuts condemn ol' Smokescreen for workin' with Amy??!?

Nice try for Norm to tie himself to Amy K. She has 20+ point approval ratings over him. Smart move on his part. Won't work in the GE, but good try. Have to give credit for trying to obfuscate his record. Please, lets all note. This is the GOP using the bridge collapse first for political gain. Let's not rail against the Dems when they use something down the road, right?

Those things they pointed out that Coleman's been working on, they're not the Federal Government's job. Show me where in the constitution it says that the Feds are supposed to help make college more affordable, and where the Feds are supposed to crack down on predatory lenders....
