MUST READ FROM MPR: “SUSPENDED LAWYER ALLEGES ETHICAL LAPSES IN SWANSON’S OFFICE”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 19, 2008
St. Paul, Minn. — When Deputy Attorney General Karen Olson explained the suspension of Amy Lawler last week, she referenced a specific ethical concern Lawler had recently shared with reporters.
Lawler, who was also involved in union organizing efforts in the office, claimed she was directed by Attorney General Swanson to quickly file lawsuits against mortgage foreclosure consultants, even though Swanson did not have any defendants in mind.
Olson said Lawler should have used proper channels to report a possible ethics violation.
'I have asked that she provide to me, by the end of the week, any information she has regarding ethical concerns. And in fact, if she has any ethical concerns, she should report any violation to the Minnesota Board of Professional Responsibility,' Olson said last week.
Lawler responded to Olson late Friday with a 20-page letter detailing her ethical concerns. She also insisted that she had raised those concerns several times with her superiors.
In addition, Lawler highlighted eight specific incidents when other attorneys in the office faced their own ethical challenges." Source: MPR, March 18, 2008

WOW!!! “Ethical Lapses”?
Just who the (cheney) does Swanson think she works for – Alerto Gonzoles? Harriet Miers??!?

Amy Lawler cites two ethical lapses of falsifying affidavits
* — being instructed by a supervisor to add statements to a consumer’s affidavit that the attorney had reason to believe the consumer did not actually say.
* — an instance in which a supervisor inserted information into affidavits that was actually false.
This is going to blow up in Lori’s face much worse than it already has.

Unfortunately TwoPutt Lori works for us….the taxpayers.
The House of Representatives voted 129-0….twice…to investigate her corruption, but slimy Sertich is blocking it and covering up her corrupt ways.

Maybe she’ll pull a Gonzo when asked about it:
” I don’t recollect. I don’t remember. I’m not sure. No recollection. I don’t remember. I’m not sure. I don’t recollect. I don’t remember. I’m not sure. I don’t recollect. I don’t remember. I’m not sure. I don’t recollect. I don’t remember. I’m not sure.”

I agree with you 2-bit, Lori Swanson should do exactly what Gonzales did, and resign.
March 19th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
If she resigns, it’ll be from pressure from democrats.
republiCons calling for her to resign, after they backed ‘Berto to the bitter end (your rabid ‘Cons STILL back him) only goes to demonstrate, once again, the hypocrisy of the GOP.
March 19th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
it’ll be from pressure from democrats.
And where is that pressure?
March 19th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
“And where is that pressure?
MoN, didn’t you read the story?
Or is your memory that bad??!?
March 19th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Of course there isn’t any pressure from the Democrats. They think their own people can break any laws or ethical standards without consequence. But my god, just let a republican fart and they come down the vapors over it.

Funny what Tom will do on MDE for a little attention.
Hey Tommy, if we’re questioning the capabilities of the human memory, how would you attempt to spin Hillary Clinton’s greatest hits:
“I do not recall.”
“I have no recollection.”
MY favorite–which is at least probably a half-truth:
“I don’t know.” (Possibly referring to when the last night she spent with her husband under the same roof.)
She repeated these phrases 56 times and almost was indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Whitewater Scandal.
Nobody around here is claiming moral high ground when it comes to ethics and politics…
But if Gonzales’ pathetic testimony makes us the “republiCons”…
What are you?
March 19th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Say, The Left?
BRILLIANT!!!
March 19th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
MoN, didn’t you read the story?
Again, what DEMOCRAT is putting pressure on Lori Swanson to resign? That story doesn’t mention any democrats except Swanson.
Give me a name or crawl back into your bottle.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
MoN, none are. They don’t want to pressure their people to do the right thing. All they are concerned about is control and power.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
MoN, I now clearly realize things need to be spelled out for you.
“Lawler says an attorney for the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Council 5 is working on her behalf to try schedule a meeting with administrators in the attorney general’s office. She says so far, those efforts have not been successful.”
Now, MoN, if you think about the above, you might figure out that AFSCME represents DEMOCRATS.
Trust me on that one.
Ask Michael, if ya don’t.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Like AFSCME could be impartial. They’ll side with Lori, the democrat.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Is this DEMOCRAT lawyer for AFSCME calling for Swanson’s resignation? Or are they just interested in unionizing the AG’s office.
They are NOT pressuring Swanson to resign.
Try playing this game when you’re not drunk.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
“Like AFSCME could be impartial. They’ll side with Lori, the democrat.”
ROFLMAO!!!
MoN, you posted your drunk comment to the wrong guy.
Oh, wait – he’s not drunk; he’s a typical republiCon strung out on Kool-Aide….
March 19th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
I disagree that AFSCME will automatically side with the democrats. AFSCME is simply concerned with AFSCME and their political support isn’t what some might imagine it to be. AFSCME is clearly upset about Swanson’s union-busting antics.
There is a lot more to this story.
March 19th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
“I disagree that AFSCME will automatically side with the democrats. “
C’mon, Drew – you know better than to make “the democrats” out to be a monolithic group.
If the DFL had the party disciple your team has, your team would never win an election.
March 19th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Meanwhile, Mike Hatch is orchestrating the entire anti-union campaign from downtown Minneapolis. You think Lori was the person who asked David Lebedoff and Miles Lord to go office-to-office with assistant AG’s, “asking” them for their thoughts on the union? Those are Hatch’s pals, and this was his idea. I don’t know how Lord sleeps at night considering his past pro-union role. But that’s his business, I guess. Me, I’m flat-out ashamed that the state of Minnesota has a mindless Hatch-bot in that office. She has the emotional depth of a character out of Blade Runner. But I’m sure she’s a sweetheart at home.
March 20th, 2008 at 8:44 am
Gerland, if republiCons had taken care of their own problems, and not become the GreedOverPrinciples party, they’d still be in power. But they didn’t, and they aren’t.
This, of course, is a lesson DFLers should take to heart – because if we don’t take care of our problems, the republiCons will exploit it.
As well they should, because wrong is wrong, and when the party in power won’t take care of their problems, sooner or later somebody else will.
But, I gotta tell ya – that was a great post you just made.
March 29th, 2008 at 10:20 am
I wish someone would investigate whether Hatch used state investigators, employees and other state resources to help his daughters defend the criminal case brought against them in Chicago.
