  1. el presidente Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 2:35 PM

    Congratulations to Dr. Davis.

  2. NrthWester Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 3:47 PM

Mike – sorry to post this without sending
this to you, but holy shit – the DFL establishment just declared war on Madia.

    http://www.minnpost.com/stories/2008/03/28/1309/dfl_battle_for_endorsement_heating_up_in_3rd_district

You don’t get this type of story printed unless you are committed to destroying him. Wow, this really surprises me. I wonder how the Democrat delegates are going to respond.

  3. el presidente Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 6:27 PM

Brian Davis will probably be running in the 1st Congressional Republican Primary Election.

[The MinnPost story wherein NrthWester stated, the DFL establishment JUST declared war on Madia, was posted on this Saturday afternoon, March 29th.

However, the “just declare war” story was really in actuality about 24 hours later that a generally accepted “just” story, as the story was posted on FRIDAY, 3-28-2008.

This in in addition to being in the 3rd Congressional District – not the 1st Congressional District, as the red titled, “breaking news,” reads.

  4. Dr.Bob Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 8:12 PM

So is Randy Demmer going to challenge Dr. Davis in the primary, or will he abide by the endorsement process?

I got redistricted out of the first district, but I’d dearly love to see WALZ get fired in November.

  5. CR Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 8:30 PM

I believe Demmer is not going to be running in the primary I think they all said they would support the endorsed candidate except for Day who didn’t worry about the endorsing convention. I may be wrong but that was my understanding.

  6. David McGuire Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 9:04 PM

Just to clarify the situation in the First District . . .

Dr. Brian Davis and Rep. Randy Demmer agreed to seek the nomination to oppose Tim Walz by going through the endorsement process. Sen. Dick Day opted to go directly to the primary election on September 9. To the best of my knowledge, the race for the Republican nomination in the First District will now be a choice between Davis and Day. It ought to be very interesting indeed.

  7. NrthWester Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 9:36 PM

Clearly the DFL establishment has declared war on Madia. See this second article against him.

    http://www.startribune.com/opinion/commentary/17110881.html

These things don’t happen by accident. The DFL party bosses are out to destroy Madia. Get your tickets now folks. The next 2 weeks are going to be interesting.

  8. el presidente Says:
    March 29th, 2008 at 11:54 PM

NrthWester: “Things don’t happen by accident.”

el presidente: “Interesting how 3rd [that is 3rd] Congressional Democratic Candidate FRIDAY story is launched under a SATURDAY story about the 1st CD [that is 1st CD] ‘Breaking News: Brian Davis Endorsed in the 1st CD’”

  9. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 10:08 AM

If those two links are a “war” on Captain Madia, the salvos missed target.

Bak on subject, I’m glad Davis got the endorsement, and I can’t wait ’till he and Day start goin’ at it.

This should be a fun primary to watch.

  10. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 11:20 AM

I’m with TwoPutt on this one. If that’s all the DFL “establishment” has against Madia, he’ll take it on the first ballot. Poor Bonoff….she had to work soooo hard at the state senate that she couldn’t campaign. The reality is she didn’t think she’d have to. It would be given to her. Surprise!

  11. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 12:04 PM

WMD – who’s gonna lay claim to bein’ the most extremist RightWingNut – Davis, or Day?

  12. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 1:08 PM

No clue…..I think Davis will be the opposition for Walz in the end, though. I wonder how much support Day has in the GOP, frankly. Davis comes across as well spoken, articulate on his positions and well positioned to make a good run for the GOP in this race. He’ll be the one to watch here.

So, while Davis has some weird positions on issues (ie., alternative energy for one), he’s definitely the better of the two candidates.

  13. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 2:54 PM

Personally, I hope Day wins the primary.

  14. Pete Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 4:01 PM

WMD, Puddles, Group hug time. Common on now…

  15. el presidente Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 4:03 PM

When I first read WMD (West Metro Dem) I was thinking of something else.

  16. Pete Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 4:06 PM

EP, thats a lie! We all know you don’t think…

  17. NrthWester Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 4:58 PM

The war against Madia is going to increase in hostility. The left always uses the media to soften up their opponents. The real punches will start to fly via direct mail/ phone calls
    in the next 2 weeks.

  18. el presidente Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 5:27 PM

It seems as though NrthWester is MDE’s war correspondent. There is:

~Paw Claws war on the Hot Half-Dozen
    ~Sir Punisher’s (Marty Siefert’s) war on Mpls/St. Paul
~Coleman’s war on the LESSER ANGRY peace-niks
    ~[I might as well toss-in Pete's War-On-Thought (WOT)]

  19. Pete Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 5:52 PM

EP, or lack there of in your case…

  20. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 6:07 PM

Good to hear, el presidente. I’m not usually known as a liberal tree-hugging type. I’m your moderate centrist and pretty easy to get along with. I’m not a bomb lobber……*smile*

  21. southwestdem Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 6:53 PM

So while the republicans are fighting and arguing for the next 5 months over who their candidate will be, Tim Walz will cruise to a second victory?!

    This is fabulous news!!!!

  22. Stonewall Jackson Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 7:33 PM

In the meanwhile, we’re still waiting for TPT (for Too Pathetic Twice-over) to come up with some proof that Grace Church does not do any charitable work.

  23. el presidente Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 7:35 PM

The South by Southwest (SxSW) Music Festival was in Austin, Texas this past week/weekend. I have a few relatives & friends in that Longhorn area.

Reflecting on Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth,” most of the world’s population will probably be some type of tree hugger [or monkey's uncle].

[Pete's convergent and somewhat aversive WOT should be phasing out soon. It didn't make much sense anyway.]

  24. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 8:04 PM

Ah, everyone, get over it. Grace Church does lots of charity work. All Baptist churches do. I should know….I’m a Baptist. But, they do charge to use their facilities – and quite a bit, too. Too much for the Democrats. We had to use the public schools. Only the GOP could afford their facilities.

  25. Pete Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 8:17 PM

Sorry WMD, when Puddles makes accusations like that he needs to stand behind them or apoligize for his lies. He does this all the time and I for one will not cut him any slack. As far as your comments about who can afford to pay to use what facility I don’t understand why that is an issue with the DFL. Last I saw the Democrats are out raising the Republicans by a considerable amount. What with all the rich Hollywood types it appears to me that the DFL is the party of the rich.

  26. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 8:23 PM

Unfortunately we don’t have many rich “Hollywood” types out here in the west metro. It’s just those of us Dems in a red-world with our checkbooks. If someone wants to pass some moola on, we’ll take it. It’s not thick on the ground, as it were.

  27. Frank Alan Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 9:07 PM

A primary in republican politics? What gives. I assumed Dick Cheney would have told you who your candidate was supposed to be by now.

Maybe Rove forgot to leave these instructions when he tucked tail and ran.

  28. Pete Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 9:08 PM

Interesting MWD. Thats too bad. I hope you all are taking advantage of the contribution refund program offered by the state. When I left the West Metro in 2000 it was turning blue fairly quickly. A lot of the houses in my St. Louis Park neighborhood were being bought up by transplants from Minneapolis looking for a better life. You must be further west where most people still have good sense.

  29. Pete Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Frank Alan, you are confused friend. Your thinking of the Democrats. But I suppose you can be excused – it is late in the evening and I’m sure you’ve had you daily “medications” by now.

  30. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 10:17 PM

rePete – you should pay attention to what I say, not what a bootlicker like you “thinks” I said.

My words stand for themselves. You want to try to prove ‘em wrong, knock yourself out.

    Putz.

  31. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 30th, 2008 at 10:19 PM

WMD – when Grace dumped all that dough on Easter costumes, they didn’t do jack squat, locally.

  32. el presidente Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:23 AM

This isn’t too bad for the title featuring the oncologist Brian Davis’ Republican endorsement in the 1st CD.

Perhaps Pete is MDE’s greeter, or at least triage nurse.

Pete’s three sorts seem to be:Democrats, Republicans, TwoPuttTommy

  33. Pete Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 6:13 AM

Puddles, You have no honor. But we knew that already. You really have gone lower then I thought even you could go with your false accusations. You are one sad persron puddles.

  34. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 7:14 AM

rePete, if you can’t prove me wrong, just say so.

    Putz.

  35. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 8:27 AM

    TwoPutt,

You need to be up on your Baptist church ministries. Grace is a very gracious and giving church, quite honestly. They work with “Feed my Starving Children”, “Block out Hunger”, the ABC program (which is a fabulous effort), “Hope for the City” (also a wonderful outreach program), and many more.

Just because they do something like an Easter pageant and a Christmas pageant for the community, doesn’t shortchange the amount of money they put out into the rest of the world.

Sorry. You hit a nerve on the giving in the Baptist church. Big churches give big. Small churches give small. The Bible says to give according to your means. Baptists believe it and practice it. Lecture over.

(And, yes. I am a committed Democrat…..you all should be…*smile*)

  36. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 8:50 AM

WMD, what I said, is they don’t give locally.

    Because, they don’t.

There’s a reason the Eden Prairie News published what I wrote, which follows, and that’s because it’s true.

In case you didn’t know, the EP News double-checks stuff like the following, before publishing.

“And I understand they want to keep their tax exempt status – I mean, if they
have to pay taxes, how can mega Grace “Church” afford to spend – according
to their website – $200,000 for sets and costumes for an Easter play? (2)
Bein’ a curious kinda guy, I checked with a couple of local non-profits,
and NOT to my surprise, Grace “Church” donated no cash. But, hey, I bet
those costumes were really, Really, REALLY nice!

Now, I do stand corrected: it wasn’t a quarter million they spent on costums, etc – it was only around $200,000.

The point remains – They can dump a ton of dough on costums, but locally – feed the hungry? cloth the naked?

    Let ‘em eat park…..

  37. Pete Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:03 AM

Wow Puddles, I ask for proof and you provide a letter to the editor that YOU wrote. Impressive… and you checked with a “couple of local non-profits” and they had “donated no cash”. Hmmm, isn’t Planned Parenthood a non-profit? Did they give something else besides cash? Are there only two non-profits in all of Eden Praire? What a jerk…

  38. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:10 AM

Yes, rePete, you certainly are a jerk.

    And a putz, too.

Because I wasn’t providing “proof” for you; that was directed to WMD.

You called me a liar, and you’re too little of a man to prove it.

And what’s with this “we” stuff you’re always posting? Why don’t you speak for yourself, rePete?

  39. Pete Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:20 AM

Puddles, getting a little hot under the collar? :-) Besides Puddles any reputable non-profit would not tell just any jerk that calls who does and doesn’t give them money. As I said you have no honor. As far as the “we” I’ll ask for the other regulars to speak up here – How many of you all already knew that Puddles has no honor? What a loser.

  40. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:37 AM

Actually they do give locally, too. Their website shows they do. They give to PROP (local EP charity) and provide other local services (like ABC Foundation) to name just one. Grace, like many megachurches, do outreach locally as well as in the general area as they draw from around the metro.

Caveat – I’m not a member of any megachurch.

  41. Drew Emmer Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Who is trying to take down Grace Church? That would be a great debate to have if the participants have the courgae to shed their anonymity.

  42. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:44 AM

I’m not. I’m all for religious organizations in the community serving the underrepresented and needy.

I choose not to belong to a megachurch because I like a smaller community but to each his or her own.

  43. Bill Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:46 AM

    …a pathetic loser.

  44. Bill Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 10:48 AM

    ..2muchtommy that is-

  45. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 11:11 AM

    TwoPuttTommy Says:

    March 29th, 2008 at 6:12 am

    • Although liberal families’ incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families, conservative-headed households give, on average, 30 percent more to charity than the average liberal-headed household ($1,600 per year vs. $1,227).

Chet – thank you for proving, once again, that while numbers don’t lie, liars use numbers.

Say there’s 9 guys in the bar. In walks Bill Gates. The average income of those now 10 guys is much higher than the average income when it was just the 9.

A coupla years ago, Grace Church in Eden Prairie bragged on their website that they spent a quarter million on their Easter Decorations.

This is a church that gives nothing to the local food bank, etc etc etc.

But, they can spend a quarter million on DECORATIONS??!?

Why? Because they got “charitable” parishoners.

So, you go ahead and feel smug, Chet – it’s something you republiCons do well.

  46. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 11:15 AM

“Lots of information on the guy..”

rePete, that’s because unlike you, I don’t hide behind my keyboard, anonymously.

  47. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 11:58 AM

Thanks, Michael. While I don’t go to great lengths to hide it, I certainly don’t want it promoted.

  48. West Metro Dem Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 11:59 AM

Honestly, TwoPutt, that “bragging” was really an investment. Many large churches spend lots of money on their Christmas and Easter pageant decorations and put on free pageants every year for years in a row. Spread that money out over the 10-15 years they’ll use those decorations and costumes and it’s not that much money to spread the good news.

Many large churches do their singing Christmas tree pageants year after year and they are wonderful and welcoming and community events. The cost of doing these is pretty high and is an investment in community outreach.

Grace also gives to the local community.

  49. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:21 PM

Grace also gives to the local community.

Maybe they do now, but they didn’t when my LTE was published in the EP News.

Quite frankly, Grace has been a boorish neighbor, from site planning, to evicting The Boxcar Lady, to “hosting” the Pastor’s Summit, to “honoring” veterans with The Shredder Jockey…

But, hey – that’s just me. Personally, I always was taught Jesus didn’t like the Pharasees….

  50. Pete Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:22 PM

Wow Puddles, so “you don’t hide behind your keyboard” anonymously. Thats why I was comfortable posting your name as it has come up before and you said it wasn’t a problem. Hmmm, which time were you being truthfull?

  51. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:26 PM

rePete, “you can’t handle the truth.”

    When Boy Blunder said this:

“You can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on.” — George aWol Bush, Washington, DC March 31, 2001

he was talking about you, rePete.

  52. Pete Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:31 PM

BRILLIANT, but a re-pete Puddles… You don’t know the truth. Unfortunately you decided to attack a church based on your emotions without facts. Just because you are envious of this church does not mean you should attack it. Quoting Jesus at your convience – shamefull. If you truely believed in Jesus you would not be doing what you are doing here. Or do you just select the verses that support your point of view?

  53. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:42 PM

“Unfortunately you decided to attack a church based on your emotions without facts.”

Wrong again, rePete! No surprise there!

“Just because you are envious of this church …”

Nice try, rePete, but: you don’t “read” minds; you “rePete” what minds have instructed to you.

    Repent, Sinner.

  54. el presidente Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 12:51 PM

I want to clarify the EP news means Eden Prairie news NOT el presidente news.

  55. el presidente Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 1:07 PM

Perhaps people reading MDE could someday send smaller donations to Grace Church in Eden Prairie, with the request that those donations be spent “for local bonafide people in need,” people could then get on to donating larger amounts of money to political candidates!

  56. Sakaki Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 1:32 PM

By the way, getting away from this Church Talk…

Any candidate that can throw “Meter Ramps” Day under the bus has my vote. Brian Davis would have it if I lived in the 3rd.

  57. Big Kahuna Says:
    March 31st, 2008 at 1:48 PM

Puddles you are an idiot and you have yet to write anything that makes much sense other than you have a very obvious axe to grind with much of society.

really, you are worried about what a church does with it’s funds for costumes for an easter show? Are you going to write about equal rights for workers at Santa’s shop too? ;)

What a sorry excuse for a man you have become puddles. Has your life become so unfulfilling that you are reduced to writing on blogs all day? No one can deny your anger and hatred you spew here on a regular basis, is this life you lead really worth it? ;)

“Short fat and stupid is no way to go through life son.”

Pete is not far off when he says you are jelous of the church. No doubt this church DID something Sir Puddles did not like so off he went to go write negative things about them. Puddles you are such a brave man. ;)

You do hide behind your keyboard puddles as you know full well many of your neighbors would run you off if they knew the shit you go around doing.

Funny, you claim to be at the Hopkins Legion all the time and I have yet to find you. ;) Though the gal working the bar certaintly knows about you. I thought you would be better thought of there, but who knew? ;)

Well we could include Hopkins VFW Post along with Eden Prairie Grace Church help folks along with the local charitable contributions.

The title about breaking news in Congressional Distict #1 slithers into the Hopkins VFW Post (again).

Does Big Kahuna get paid every time he mentions Hopkins [Legion today]?

I have no idea if K-bars are still being used. Many of the weapons used years ago in Vietnam or in other conflicts/wars have now been upgraded and/or outdated.

Some of the nomenclature used on this site has to be outdated.
