A MESSAGE FROM MDE: I DIDN’T SPEAK WITH ANYONE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH MADIA’S CAMPAIGN REGARDING MY POSTS TODAY ON BONOFF
By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 31, 2008
I have a long-standing policy of not discussing my methods and sources for posts on Minnesota Democrats Exposed.
But I was contacted in the last 90 minutes by Chris Truscott, media director for Ashwin Madia’s campaign, regarding my posts today on State Senator Terri Bonoff. Truscott asked that I clarify that I “had no contact with the Madia campaign prior to your posting the story.”
I called Chris and told him about my policy mentioned above, but I added that I would disclose that I didn’t speak with anyone directly or indirectly associated with Maida’s campaign before I published by posts on Bonoff.

Did WMD Weapons of Mass Destruction call up Madia and ask him to contact you? It is really interesting how Madia supporters seem to put all their efforts into trashing Bonoff. Why don’t they work on producing some facts about what their candidate has done? They brag they would rather support Madia who has done nothing for the DFL Party.

Why would you need an opposing democrat for this?
You have a self-described lifelong Republicant with an axe to grind. That is plenty good a source for this shameful site.
I love how the supposed democrat on this bill refuses to comment now that she sees Michael using fetuses as nothing more than political props.

Nick – Babies, they are babies. Say it slowly a few times, you’ll get used to it. They aren’t dangerous.
March 31st, 2008 at 8:34 PM
I totally agree.
The only place babies are dangerous is when they enter the republican playbook.
Why do republicans only respect babies until they are born? Once it is time for school, they all seem to leave like a deadbeat dad in the night, forcing democrats to enact the policies that help support the kids that republican “love” brought into this world.

Jack, If you were truly googling to find this site then you’d also have googled some other sites that cover what Ash Madia has done for the DFL candidates. He’s worked on several DFL campaigns during the last cycles – unlike Bonoff who only works on campaigns that benefit Bonoff.
If you had done your homework as you profess then you’d know what Ash Madia has done. I know what Terri Bonoff has done. Can you say the same?
I made my decision on who to support based on personal knowledge of both candidates.
March 31st, 2008 at 9:55 PM
Jack, no offense, pal, but:
You’re gettin’ whupped here, and you’re doin’ your candidate no favors.
March 31st, 2008 at 11:16 PM
Madia did use this issue in a debate against Terri Bonoff in Brooklyn Center – so it certainly has been an issue. It’s also true that Terri contacted Planned Parenthood about the bill before she signed on, and found out they took a neutral position on the bill.

MDE = Michael Doesn’t Etc.
Whatever it seems to be,
MDE.
One, or two, or three,
It’s MDE.
“It’s Democrats Exposed, and these spectacles aren’t rose, says the moderator MBB.
“I don’t discuss my methods, or the sources for my posts, but you can bet that some are from me.”
April 1st, 2008 at 1:46 AM
MBB posted on MN Publius and gave a source for one of his posts there [MN Publius], however, MBB has a policy on not giving sources or methods on MDE.
MBB must fancy himself as having some exceptionally secret sources.
On the other hand el presidente doesn’t have much in the way of secret sources.
April 1st, 2008 at 6:52 AM
Jack, we Madia supporters don’t have to work very hard to “trash Bonoff”. Terri and all of her supporters do it for us.
We Madia supporters would rather stay positive and talk about issues, but we are not afraid to respond when you guys choose to get down in the mud.
Eva- yes, Madia responded to a question put to them at the Forum. I was there. And contacting Planned Parenthood is a lot different from contacting Pro-choice Naral Minnesota. Terri held off their organization for 3 weeks.
Now tell us exactly whose campaigns has Terri ever phone banked, door knocked or lit dropped for?!
Oh that’s right– she doesn’t. A “real democrat” supports candidates other than themselves.

Michael -
Just a thought. You probably shouldn’t issue denials like this. In the future, the absence of a denial of a source will imply guilt.
Still love ya man. Just a suggestion.
April 1st, 2008 at 8:45 AM
What’s the issue again? All the nincompoopistic name calling sublimated any issue discussion. Or was that the strategy of the lefty posters?
April 1st, 2008 at 9:32 AM
Issues might be that MBB didn’t “speak” or “discuss” with anyone one.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that he didn’t “email, write, voice mail” or Beam Me Up Scotty there are too many WMD’s down here for me.
April 1st, 2008 at 9:32 AM
“Or was that the strategy of the lefty posters?”
Drew, that was The Professor’s strategy.
Obviously, Swiftee, et al got the lessons.
Doncha hate it, when what your side does, is done back at ya?
April 1st, 2008 at 10:10 AM
Michael: I’m sure you are aware of what MN Publius is saying on their site that Bonoff claimed she would “drop this bill like a hot potatoe” if it became a “pro-life vehicle”. MN Publius/Bonoff both claim that she couldn’t drop it until session in ’08 started. My point, and question if you could pose it to MN Publius/Bonoff is “Who spends a month holding a hot potatoe, as session started Feb 12th, and she didn’t drop it until March 13th?”
It seems to me there are only two possibilites here: 1) She had no idea as to what was going on. or 2) She intentionally sat on the bill and denied these two women the opportunity to have their opinions heard. Either way, it doesn’t bode well for Bonoff on someone who is either incompetent, or a stonewall to her own constituency.
April 1st, 2008 at 10:57 AM
WMD Weapons of Mass Destruction: What exactly did Terri Bonoff do to you and munchkinmom? I am starting to believe you did ask for an inside favor and didn’t get what you wanted. Or are you two “women” with an ax to grind with another woman who is maybe more successful than you and better respected or maybe prettier? Geese get a membership to Curves and exercise yourself out of this anger issue.
It appears you are all about trashing Bonoff and have said you would rather endorse a person with no credentials or work history in politics. Crap that is one great reason to support someone! Madia has done nothing so therefore he hasn’t done anything to offend me. We will find out in a year if the guy can do the job and if not we won’t re-elect him. What kind of dumb non-sense is that?
This is about the stupidest issue Madia and his stooges could come up with! Going after a female DFL senator on women’s issues. WTF you need to do some better stategizing.
No wonder Ciresi didn’t want to keep Madia.

For an update on this issue… here is the story:

April 1st, 2008 at 11:28 AM
Jack. Repeat. This has nothing to do with Ash Madia. This has to do with Terri Bonoff’s lack of judgment.
April 1st, 2008 at 12:11 PM
So what did Bonoff do that ticked you off?
This is a non-issue. if you read the truth in the link above. so why do you dislike Bonoff so much you support someone with no experience for Congress? or are you a republican who wants the weaker candidate in the race so Paulsen can win?
let’s see:
#1 Bonoff turned you down on a favor
#2 Bonoff is more successful and better liked and prettier so you are jealous of her
#3 You really are pretending to like Madia so you can help him get endorsed so Paulsen can cream him in the GE
which one?
April 1st, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Jack,
You do not deserve a response with this assinine comment. But, you’ll get it.
Terri called me and her call is what turned me off to her. I have never asked her (nor any other legislator in St. Paul for any favor – nor would I). I am a constituent, not a beggar. #2 does not deserve any commentary. You made an ass of yourself. Nothing more need be said. #3. I support Ash Madia because he has relevant experience to the job we are asking him to consider. He is a US Marine Iraq war veteran with legal experience. I would note that many legislators go to DC to serve in Congress (it is the people’s house) without formerly serving in the state legislature.
April 1st, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Say, WMD?
With “friends” like “jack”, maybe The Hustler does have a chance…..
April 1st, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Jack, it is sad that you have to make up stories just to support your point of view. But please keep it up because its people like you and Puddles that will convince more self proclaimed moderates to vote Repuplican. When they see more and more of you wacked out loonies Republican votes increase.
April 1st, 2008 at 12:40 PM
“So, while some may be attempting to portray this as abandonment of a cause in an election year, it’s really a quite less sensational story about a bipartisan compromise breaking down. Senator Bonoff has always been a strong supporter of pro-choice rights and made it clear that she wouldn’t support a bill that would later be used as a weapon against these rights; yet, she did want to address the very serious needs of mother’s facing the trauma of a stillbirth.”
http://mnpublius.com/2008/03/grieving-parents-act-the-whole-story/#comment-69104
Again, Weapons of Mass Destruction: With this issue put to rest, what is your beef with Bonoff?
#1 or #2 or #3
April 1st, 2008 at 12:46 PM
Hey just observing a large amount of anger coming out of the Madia posters. You keep referring to this issue when it has been explained over and over again. I have to wonder if you are ticked at Bonoff or just worried with the Ciresi endorsement. Has Madia promised you some big job or something so you can stop working all day blogging?
How about you find someone to discuss the issues with in person like going to Curves… exercise.. chat a bit.. and get some of that tension out. You’re going to give yourself a heart attack.
April 1st, 2008 at 12:47 PM
This has never been about being pro- or anti-choice. It’s about constantly spinning a story and lack of judgment.
April 1st, 2008 at 1:33 PM
It seems like the MDE wants Madia to follow Coleman to the GOP.
April 1st, 2008 at 3:01 PM
The GOP wants to label Al ANGRY.
Now they want to label Ash MADia.
Say that West Metro Dem is a weapon. That
Pete & Drew are a duet looking to rename themselves.
And TPT & JACK are TV & radio stations, respectively
April 1st, 2008 at 5:28 PM
rePete, you have yet to prove I’ve ever made anything up.
You, on the otherhand, are the epitome of a bottlicker.
And it’s rightwingnuts like you, that convince moderates that the republiCon tent is not only small, it’s getting smaller.
April 1st, 2008 at 9:30 PM
munchkin mom- you ask what campaigns terri worked on. I wonder about Madia’s past campaigning. If he did indeed volunteer for any dfl campaigns in the past, why aren’t those people endorsing him?
April 1st, 2008 at 9:33 PM
why would alleged democrats duke this out on a republican web site? Just giving ammo to the republicans in the fall, assuring continued republican representation in congress for the 3rd.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:58 AM
MDE may want Madia to follow Coleman to GOP. MADia has some attributes & experiences that Coleman and some Republicans lack.
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:16 AM
Puddles, your losing it dude. Weak response, no facts, just your emotions. Bottlicker? Better then being an ass licker…
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:57 AM
rePete, it’s a fine response – you say I’ve lied; I remind those who pay attention that you’ve never proven that.
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 PM
Puddles, don’t have to prove that. You can’t prove any of the accusations you made about the church. If you had anything to suppport it you would post it just to shut me up. So you don’t. So stop being a silly little boy and drink your milk.
April 2nd, 2008 at 3:29 PM
3Ddem,
I think that what you have referred to as a “Republican website” may be a precursor of the Senate election to come. Here’s my point(s):
There are many posts about:
- lick my boots
- lick my jumpboots
- lick various parts of someone’s anatomy
- put anatomy parts into the sand
- you are a sorry excuse for a veteran
- I don’t believer you are a veteran
- You are not a bona-fide VFW member
- Show me your DD-214 (Department of Defense)
This is the kind of thing that the Coleman-Franken campaigns have gotten into and Franken has not yet been endorsed by the State Democrats at the June 2008 State Convention that will be held in Rochester in early June 2008.
Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer is also running.
Perhaps there should be a topic labeled “licking,”
and those that want to write things such as “lick my jumpboots” could post them under that red, title [in uppercase letters].
Such a steadiness of “licking” postings on MDE doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:25 AM
rePete:
You can’t prove me wrong.
If you could have, you would have.
Since you didn’t, that means you’re a liar.
April 4th, 2008 at 10:21 PM
As I understood this bill- it has absolutely nothing to do with abortion- nothing at all.
If you started to miscarry pre-20 weeks and went into the hospital- you lose the child. Currently there’s no law and one hospital may give you the choice to see the remains, and take those remains and bury them. Another hospital may simply incinerate those remains without giving the parents the option. My mother-in-law lost twins- one was stillborn and one lived for 2 days. She was able to bury one and never saw the other…the laws back then allowed that. This is giving people the choice to see that child (fetus, remains, whatever it is to YOU) pre-20 weeks and make a decision on what to do.
The fact of the matter is Terri Bonoff LIED to the citizens who brought forward this legislation– to their faces and then in writing- that she’d be “happy” to sponsor this– and then her handlers and her money at Emily’s List, Planned Parenthood, NARAL got a hold of her and told her to get out of it. It fits her reputation for taking votes she doesn’t believe in and then crying about it. Just not very smart and not very nice.
