"WASHINGTON – Barack Obama picked up the endorsement of Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar Sunday night, giving him another superdelegate supporter.
In a statement provided to The Associated Press, Klobuchar said Obama 'has inspired an enthusiasm and idealism that we have not seen in this country in a long time.'
Klobuchar, a freshman Democrat, said Obama speaks 'with a different voice, bringing a new perspective and inspiring a real excitement from the American people.' She compared him to the late Hubert Humphrey, who served as a senator from Minnesota and as vice president." Source: Associated Press, March 31, 2008

I wonder what the Happy Warrior would think about the sermons from Rev. Jeremiah Wright? Humphrey's speech at the 1948 Democratic National Convention about civil rights certainly differs from the message of Wright.

I fail to see what you find so objectionable in this comparison. Rev. Wright’s views are not Obama’s – he has specifically rejected them. Do you really think that Hubert Humphrey, who grew up in the early part of the 20th century, had no friends or close supporters who harbored racist views? Moreover, Wright is not the monster you want to pretend he is. See my blog today for more.

“Barack has been a proven agent for change and advocate for middle-class Americans,” Klobuchar said.
Ok, fair enough. But is it true?
Let’s list all the “Change” that Senator Obama has agented for America, Illinois, or for that matter his parish. Hubert Humphrey actually championed massive civil rights law changes. His list as “change ageny” is legitimate and lengthy.
Please show the depth of Obama’s “change agent” history so we can all appreciate his HHH-ness.

I checked out the hyperlink. The difference I seed here is these are the words of one man who attends the church. The alternate view I have heard with my own ears and seen with by own eyes is the Rev Wright yelling racist comments from the pulpit. I’ll go with what I’ve seen not what one person who attends this church claims.

I can understand the comparison, both have come to the national stage as agents of change.
As for Wright, I don’t generally judge people by what their pastor says. He is running for President, not Wright and he has made it very clear he does not share the same viewpoint on many issues as Wright.

Since I don’t think that Obama is telling the truth (yes I think he is telling a lie) I will pass. I would not attend a church that has such radical views unless I believed in those point of view.

Did Obama attend any of the sermons given by Rev. Wright that have been found to be so confrontational? (Quick hint: No)
I will say right here and now that if John McCain can quote me word for word every sermon that his pastor has given since he stepped onto the public stage, he can have my endorsement.

Frank Alan, Obama has admitted to having been present and being aware of these kind of sermons (or course that was after he denied having ever heard anything like them…). Could John McCain quote words he for sermons like these? Of course not, he would have walked out of his church had anyone started talking like this. Duh!!

Ummmm…by the way, it’s God’s church and not Rev. Wright’s.
A church is much more than a couple of snippets by a pastor. It is a community that though flawed, worships God throughout their lives. They assemble to hear the word of God proclaimed and to really find out Where God is in their lives and the lives of the community.

Look at Obama’s book. He pretty much said he was ashamed of his white grandmother, and said that she was a racist. Seems he does pretty much believe as Wright does.

If McCain had been attending local KKK meetings for twenty years and when busted like Obama said that he didn’t really believe like that and claimed to disassociate himself from those views, you know full well you wouldn’t buy it.
If Obama had been there a few months, or even a year (a major stretch to be kind), I could understand. But twenty years, a member of the church, a major donor to the church, calls the pastor his “spiritual mentor”, puts his children under his teaching, etc. etc. etc.?
No way.
Obama is a lying sleaze worse than the typical politician. He’s worse because he has specifically created a plan to deceive people about who and what he really is. For that reason he is DANGEROUS.

Quag, first of all they weren’t pedophiles. They were homosexual priests who liked young teenage boys. I know it’s not PC to say that, but it is the truth.
And the Catholic church handled it very poorly. I will be the first to condemn the handling of this. The church may have been in denile for years. But that is not the teaching of the church. Fortunately we have had two consecutive Popes who are taking steps to enforce traditional Catholic teachings.

So you think Obama is more wealthy then McCain? You are nuts! Obama could have 100 million in the bank by now if all he cared about is money, it’s clear that is not what motivates him.
Obama had the opportunity to take many cush jobs along the way and he did not. Take a look at the other presidential candidates on both sides, he probably has the least money of any of them. Hell, Ron Paul probably has more money!

You are wrong, hiding and moving around molesters was recognized at the highest levels of Catholic church leadership. The bashed real victims and have a long horrible history of denial. If you are Catholics some of your money went to pay for settlements directly caused the refusal of church leaders to stop and report abuse by Catholic priests (and nuns).
Why then didn’t people walk away from the church when it became quite clear this was happening? If they still sat in the pews when these monsters were still preaching and said nothing, does that make them silent supporters?
Personally I think that viewpoint is absurd and I think it is also absurd to use it against Obama.

What’s more remarkable than Klobuchar’s comparison of BHO to HHH is her refusal to endorse Franken. That’s not waiting to see what the delegates do. That’s sheer terror of being eternally painted with the stain of Franken. It’s safe to endorse Obama and compare him to HHH, the patron saint of the DFL (who btw may not caucus with the DFL today if he were alive). The polls all point to Minnesota liberals having gotten off the Hillary train in advance of the impending derailment. Obama represents a no-lose posture for Klobuchar.
Franken on the other hand reminds Klobuchar of the woodchipper scene from Fargo. That’s the kind of grind she would rather sidestep don’tcha know.

So what is the correlation [coefficient]?
Then he claims that el presidente draws a “comparison” by adding one more: That Obama spoke at the Humphrey Day Dinner.
Drew Emmer may label them as “correlations” and/or “comparisons” and slink on by, however, el presidente was well-aware that the word “correlation” was being used.
Is that the way a modern mathematics teacher, or reading teacher in the public or private or home schools, would introduce/refer to correlation, or a reading schematic/mapping?
