MINNESOTA SUPERDELEGATE BLASTS KLOBUCHAR’S DECISION TO SUPPORT OBAMA

By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 1, 2008

“Stevenson was surprised and irked.

‘I knew she was waffling, and I knew she was leaning,’ said Stevenson. ‘Now, I’m just very disappointed. She didn’t have to do anything. She could have let this play out. I’m very disappointed by her choice, and I’m very disappointed she didn’t call. She could have let one of us (the state’s three Clinton superdelegates) know what she was going to do, and we could have contacted each other. She didn’t even do that.’” Source: MinnPost, April 1, 2008

Why the hell should she have to notify them?

I agree with Andrew. (Please note that the sun, in response at a little after 6 p.m., is now starting to set in the east.)

Where is it written that Klobuchar needed to call the Clinton superdelegates to tell them about her decision?

Party poobahs (of both parties) tend to forget that they exist for the candidates and office holders, and not the other way around.

Jackie Stevenson, who endorsed Hillary long before the Minnesota caucuses without consulting or notifying anyone, is publicly pissed that a US Senator endorsed the person that won Minnesota and is pretty much a lock to get the endorsement. Jackie – time for you to retire…

The DEMOCRATIC PARTY’S SuperDelegates seem to be setting off SuperNovas. [Was the USA Senator from Idaho bracing himself for an early SuperNova when he was in a wide-stance?]

What the women quoted in the article (Phyllis Kahn, Jackie Stevenson) don’t get is that electing Hillary Clinton as President would set the women’s movement back 100 years. A woman who rode her husband’s ‘coattails’ to office, who never achieved anything on her own is not a good role model for women. A woman who allowed her husband to treat her like dirt (Lewinsky scandal) and she stuck with him for political expediency is not a good role model.

Women who can actually achieve on their own merits – Condoleeza Rice, Christie Todd Whitman, Kay Bailey Hutchison. (I’m sure there are some on the left, their names escape me right now.)

    A female Patriot

Nancy Pelosi didn’t ride up to leadership because of her husband.

  7. el presidente Says:

Back 100 years would be 1908. A bit after the Spanish-American War when the U.S. took Cuba and got Guantanamo Bay now known as “Gitmo Prison.”

Perhaps McCain will select a female running mate. It could possibly be a G.I. Jane type.

Well, Eva – it certainly didn’t hurt Pelosi’s prospects to be married to a multi-millionaire who could give her the freedom – and financial wherewithal – to get where she was going. Or, put differently – would Nancy Pelosi be Speaker of the House today if she hadn’t married well?

  9. munchkinmom Says:

Kay Bailey Hutchison’s husband is a former Texa legislator, unsuccessfully ran for governor once and is a senior partner on a law firm. Christie Todd Whitman is related by marriage to the Bush family and has a long lineage of political folks behind her.

Don’t think these women got any help from their family associations??

  10. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    April 2nd, 2008 at 7:52 AM

Well, Allison, I’d certainly make the argument that the ol’ Slickster never would have made Governor, let alone President, if HE hadn’t married well….

  11. Keep it Simple Says:
    April 2nd, 2008 at 8:13 AM

The link really shows the rabid racism and sexism of democrats. Can you imagine the outrage if elected officials came out and said they support McCain because he is white or male?

The fact that democrats have so many admitted racists and sexists in high positions is pretty sad.

Who is this Stevenson gal, anyway?

  12. Drew Emmer Says:
    April 2nd, 2008 at 9:02 AM

America is far more concerned about being considered racist than it is concerned about being considered sexist.

Pelosi is the daughter of Baltimore’s most famous mayor. She was involved in Maryland and DC politics as a teen. In college she went on to work for the Democratic Leadership in Congress, one of her colleagues at the tmie was a guy named Steny Hoyner (now Maj Leader in the House). When she first ran for office out of SanFran, she had already more political experience and connections on her own than ANY of our current members of Congress here in Minnesota. Maybe except Oberstar.

Once elected to the House, her record is clear. She built coalitions and was supportive- that’s how she became Speaker.

I can name any Republican woman in power and you’ll see her husband or father played a big role in where she is. Would Elizabeth Dole be anyone without Bob? We can even bring this home to the state legislature and look at Joyce Peppin or Laura Brod.

Drew Emmer and Keep it Simple continue to demonstrate the Republicans inability to understand race in America.

  14. patriot Says:
    April 2nd, 2008 at 12:47 PM

I’ll give Pelosi her hard earned successes, Madeline Albright as well, although I find both of them to be “loony” in their beliefs. Both are far more successful on their own merit than Hillary Clinton has been. Hillary tried to become President by “co-opting” Bill’s successes as her own, none of the other women mentioned have done that – Condi, Elizabeth Dole, Albright, Pelosi, Hutchison.

Holding Hillary Clinton up as a female role model is an embarrassment to women.

    Superdelegates are a scam.
Just another way of keeping the man down.

    Not so much.

  17. el presidente Says:
    April 2nd, 2008 at 3:06 PM

Pelosi will be in MN this month in Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District talking to Veteran’s. Perhaps people can ask her questions about this MDE topic then.

  18. patriot Says:
    April 2nd, 2008 at 3:31 PM

Pelosi in MN talking to Veterans?

I hope they ask her about Berkeley and ask her to denounce the Berkeley City Council in their attempt to remove the Marine Corps recruiting office in their city. Then ask her why the city of Berkeley retained their $2M in earmarks.

    Pelosi & Veterans = Oxymoron

  19. el presidente Says:
    April 3rd, 2008 at 12:11 AM

In your post 14 you wrote “I find them to be both” [Nancy Pelosi & Madeline Albright]“‘loony’ in their beliefs.”

If you are a military Veteran and live in CD #1 this might be an opportunity for you to see her.
