ANOTHER MINNESOTA MONITOR SHOCK ATTACK: POST COMPARES GOVERNOR PAWLENTY TO MURDERER
By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 8, 2008
After being forced to apologize for mocking Senator McCain’s teeth, which were broken at the gums while McCain was a P.O.W., Minnesota Monitor has once again entered the sewer of the Minnesota blogosphere.
Today, Minnesota Monitor compared Governor Pawlenty to a murderer:
- “On Monday, Gov. Tim Pawlenty gave the state Legislature’s bonding bill a haircut almost as extreme as the one Javier Bardem wears in No Country for Old Men. In fact, much of the recent drama over the bonding bill seemed like a pale reprise of the Coen Brothers’ screenplay, with Pawlenty trading in his veep-quality coiffure for the malevolent comb-over of ‘No Country’ villain Anton Chigurh, who kills at the toss of a coin.” Source: Minnesota Monitor, April 8, 2008
- “Once he had killed $100 million in spending from the bill, Pawlenty just kept killing.” Source: Minnesota Monitor, April 8, 2008
- “Well, maybe Pawlenty is not such an indiscriminate killer after all…” Source: Minnesota Monitor, April 8, 2008
- “Even if you gave him the money [Pawlenty] still kill you. He’s a peculiar man.” Source: Minnesota Monitor, April 8, 2008
Over the last few months, Minnesota Monitor has become more and more of a fringe blog. Comparing Governor Pawlenty to a murderer and posting that he “just kept killing” is disgusting. I shouldn’t be surprised that a blog funded by George Soros, a man who compared the President Bush to Nazi Germany and Communists, would compare Pawlenty to a murderer who “just kept killing.”
I’ve made of fun of Minnesota Monitor’s sloppy “reporting” in the past and when the situation presents itself again, I will. But the McCain teeth post and now their new post comparing Pawlenty to a murderer who “just kept killing” is just too much for me. I’m removing my link to Minnesota Monitor.

Ah the sewer of the Minnesota blogosphere.
Anton Chigurh is a fictitious murderer. I think comparing someone to a fictitious murderer part of pop culture is one thing, entirely different than saying “T-Paw is a bigger a-hole than Jeffery Dahmer!”.
Sure, the post is a little sensational. But then again, you’d have to be divorced from reality to think that what the Guv did today wasn’t controversial. I don’t see any criticism here about MnMon’s point that the Guv cut dramatically more funding from DFL areas than GOP areas… That’s deserving of sensation.

Michael,
Don’t drop their link, just point it to MinnPost.com instead. They’re a bit touchy about that.
April 8th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Well, unlike the liberals who advocate the slaughter of children, T-Paw is no murderer.
April 8th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
I love how you republicants have such a hard time telling the difference between fictional characters and real people.
To help you out, here is a short list:
George Washington – REAL
George Jefferson – FICTIONAL
Abraham Lincoln – REAL
Abraham Simpson – FICTIONAL
Joe Mauer – REAL
Joe Camel – FICTIONAL
John McCain – REAL
Johm McCain, Straight Talker – FICTIONAL
Buzz Aldrin – REAL
Buzz Lightyear – FICTIONAL
Dr. C Everett Koop – REAL
Dr. Feelgood – FICTIONAL
Tim Pawlenty- REAL
Tim “No New Taxes” Pawlenty – FICTIONAL

MBB/MDE claims that MN Monitor makes PAW CLAWS out to be a “MURDERER.”
MN Monitor writes compare/contrast about Cohen Brothers screen play villan, and uses: “kill, kills, killer, killing”
Which is worse MBB/MDE’s “MURDERER,” OR MN Monitor’s “Killer.”
April 9th, 2008 at 12:22 am
Just becaue you write it doesn’t make it so.
Lame.

Chestnut
you are a serious piece of work man. Well, unlike the liberals who advocate the slaughter of children, T-Paw is no murderer.
are you kidding me? lay of the the smack. you are probably the biggest tool in the blogosphere.
April 9th, 2008 at 12:45 am
Chestnut jumped to another post. It looks like he slept this one off for an hour or two.
April 9th, 2008 at 7:29 am
Everyone knows its a fictional character, but it is still tasteless. There are better ways to get a point across.
April 9th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Well Yoni, liberals slaughter 1.2 million children every year in the U.S. Tell me who’s the killer?
April 9th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Certainly not the guy who took his veto pen to a sheet music library.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:36 am
Nuttybar,
Following your dickhead logic, Republicans have killed and prolonged endless suffering for millions by denying stem cell research.

Sloppy “reporting”? How about completely ignoring the pertinent facts to whine about being nasty, while doing what you accuse other of. We can all call each other names forever — how about some numbers:
“of the 50 projects he vetoed that affected specific Senate districts, 49 were in DFL districts and one was in a Republican district. It also showed that $204 million, or 98 percent, was cut from DFL districts, $4.1 million, or 1.95 percent, was cut from statewide projects and $100,000, or .04 percent, was cut from Republican districts.”
That’s the substance referred to by the killing metaphor. Bills and programs are referred to as being “killed” the time; it’s common usage. You’ve never objected to that word before. If one project is killed, what would you call it when 50 are slashed (another common budgetary phrase) all at once? The only logical extension of the metaphor is serial murderer. And given the blatantly partisan nature of the cuts, it’s cold-blooded murder.
Brodkorb’s whiny victimization schtick is just sleazy misdirection.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Martin: And how many of the projects in the bonding bill were in DFL districts over GOP districts?
And Howie Jacobs: Stem Cells have never actually been proven to do what you say. They hope that it could one day. However, they recently announced that stem cells could be created without destroying a fetus. But I guess knowledge doesn’t get around too much in the DFL circle.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:17 am
“Martin: And how many of the projects in the bonding bill were in DFL districts over GOP districts?”
OK, I’ll play – how many?
April 9th, 2008 at 9:29 am
“Republicans have killed and prolonged endless suffering for millions by denying stem cell research.”
Hardly. First, Republicans have been vocal supporters of stem cell research, just not those involving “embryonic stem cells.”
Second, embryonic stem cells have never, ever, not once, resulted in any shape or form of a cure or treatment for any health related issue.
Not sure why liberals are so set on killing children.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Chestnut, I’m not sure why you Small Tenters are so set on making decisions for the people.
Here you claim to be for less government, but you demand to force people to do what you want them to.
I understand why a chump like you would go for that: you want to take away a choice for a woman that you, yourself, will never have to make.
And after all, there’s nothing more in the republiCon tradition that passing laws that don’t affect themselves.
Hypocrite.

I appreciate the Fox News reporting of your blog, allow me to finish the ellipses:
“Well, maybe Pawlenty is not such an indiscriminate killer after all…†Source: Minnesota Monitor, April 8, 2008
“As Andy Birkey noted here earlier, most of the district-specific cuts occurred in Democratic districts.”
April 9th, 2008 at 9:59 am
Minnesota Monitor is just a further left version of Checks and Balances. The children over there have the same level of intellect and credibility as Towle.
They are laughed at over here.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:04 am
TPT, you mean like force other people to pay for your immoral programs? Oh, wait… that’s the DFL.
I guess when it comes to ensuring a baby lives, or killing a child, I’d protect the baby.
Woman can make choices, sure. When they choose to have sex, they choose to potentially get pregnant. Not sure why killing children resolves that dilemma.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Of course you’re not sure; you’re a republiCon.
Beliefs, yes; – sure? Not for you, pal.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:10 am
Actually, Anton Chigurh is not in fact a murderer. He is a fictional character, and fictional characters aren’t in a position to murder anyone.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:21 am
“Which is worse MBB/MDE’s “MURDERER,†OR MN Monitor’s “Killer.—
Considering that modern man has made the two words interchangable presidente, I don’t see your point…for example, the 10 Commandments. The commandment “Thou shall not kill” is actually “thou shall not murder”. The Hebrew verb is “Rache” which translates into the willfull, intentional taking of life – ie murder. Yet it has been mistranslated to “kill” and used as a justification against the death penalty (which is ok in the OT) and self-defense.

Lady Logician,
In the military there is a difference between killing and murdering.
April 9th, 2008 at 11:59 am
If you think about Lieutenant William Calley I think that you can figure out the difference.
Sometimes there may be no difference or the differences may be difficult to make.

Not according to Code Pink and the other anti-war groups presidente….THAT was my point.

Sorry Buttnut, but most Republicans have been very vocal in opposing stem cell research in reality, since large scale research requires the use of embryonic stem cells.
As for finding new cures and treatments, they will definitely provide us with major medical breakthoughs provided they get approval and adequate funding. That is being held up primarly by the right-wing nuts that control your party.

The DFL does not force the state to pay for abortions. The Minnesota State Supreme court made that ruling and unless that court changes it’s stance the state can do nothing to change it.
Question for your though, what if a woman doesn’t make that choice and is raped? Are you going to tell her, like South Dakota tried to do, that she has to have that rapists child or she would be thrown in jail? What right do you have to make those conditions on women?
Get off your soapbox and put away your stones, before you get hurt.
April 9th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Clyde, if you want to kill children, kill your own. Don’t try to justify killing others. Murder is murder.
April 9th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Bradley Moore, you clearly have your head shoved up the same ass as the rest of the DFL:
“Republicans have been very vocal in opposing stem cell research in reality, since large scale research requires the use of embryonic stem cells.”
No Conservatives very vocally support stem cell research… using adult cells… which has never been dependent on embryonic stem cells. Whatever you said about large scale is just bullshit. I’m not even sure where you dug up that lie. Hell of an imagination if you thought of that one yourself.
There’s very large scale research going on using adult cells, and it is the only research resulting in cures and treatments.
Amazing how adamant liberals are on killing children for medical research. Nazi’s had a similar past time.
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that it is necessary to murder humans for risky medical research. If embryonic stem cell research was so promising, private investors would invest in it.
The fact is, embryonic stem cell research is nearly worthless. It’s another immoral cause to which slaughterhouse Democrats have hitched their sad, pathetic wagon.

“Murder is murder.”
Thank you for proving, once again, that republiCons have no regard for the law.
One result of how badly as the GreedOverPrinciples party has (cheney)ed up, is republiCons will NEVER hold the majority levers of power in the Executive and Legislative Branches again.
republiCons ran on the belief government doesn’t work; then they got majority power and proved it.
January 20th, 2009 is The End Of An Error.

Another incoherent post from the anti-American, traitor whore TwoPuttTommy. Don’t you have terrorists to assist, or something?
April 9th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
What I’d like to know is how many bonding projects were in Republican districts to begin with. As of a few weeks ago, the House DFL heard over 1000 bills. Out of the some 1000 bills, less than 200 were Republican bills. If they authored the bonding bill the way the operate the rest of the House, no doubt 90% of the bonding occured in DFL districts.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Puddles, “January 20th, 2009 is The End Of An Error” – I’m assuming that your parents finally realized their mistake and will be having a postpartum abortion?
April 10th, 2008 at 3:23 am
As usual, rePete, you’re assuming wrong. It’s a habit for you. Well, for all bootlickers, actually.

Science worshipers who don’t know much about science say:
“since large scale research requires the use of embryonic stem cells.”
Law worshippers who don’t know much about the law say:
“The DFL does not force the state to pay for abortions. The Minnesota State Supreme court made that ruling and unless that court changes it’s stance the state can do nothing to change it.”
April 10th, 2008 at 7:39 am
I am amazed at the number of times and ways TwoPuttTommy can say “some republican did it too”. Not impressed, but amazed.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Troy, that’s not what I’m saying at all; I’m saying republiCons were fine with it when GOPers did it; but now have a problem when Democrats do it.
That’s hypocrisy.
It’s also the consistent inconsistency the GreedOverPrinciples party is known for.
You know, the ol’ “That was then; this is now” crap republiCons are so wll-known for.
