NATIONAL JOURNAL’S THE HOTLINE: “THAT’S TWO THUS FAR, SHOOTER”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 17, 2008

I love the mocking tone of the headline.

###

“Entertainer Al Franken (D) owes the state of CA $5.8K “after failing to file state income tax returns for his personal corporation from 2003 to 2007.” Franken ‘apparently hasn’t done business’ in CA for years ‘but didn’t take steps in the meantime to dissolve the corporation, Alan Franken Inc.’

‘AFI is considered ‘forfeited’ by California and required to pay the state a minimum franchise tax of $800 for each year it’s been delinquent.’ CA Franchise Tax Board spokesperson John Barrett: ‘When you start a corporation, whether it’s Al Franken or Joe Blow, it’s a legal entity almost like a human being, with a date of creation and a death date.’

Franken accountant Allen Chanzis, in a statement: ‘We made an honest and responsible attempt to inform the state of California that we wished to terminate our corporate status within the state. Today I learned that the action intended may have required a different technical form than the one that I sent. I have contacted the state of California in order to rectify the situation.’

GOP spokesperson Mark Drake said 4/16 ‘that the incident ‘is part of a pattern’ that began with last month’s revelations that AFI had failed to pay workers’ compensation insurance’ in NY. Drake: ‘Al Franken doesn’t follow the law, and he thinks there is one set of rules for Al Franken and one set for somebody else. Now it turns out the state of California has been looking at him for years, so Al Franken has a real credibility problem’ (Duchschere, Minneapolis Star-Tribune, 4/16).” Source: National Journal’s The Hotline, April 17, 2008

“… and YOU can count on ME to be waiting for YOU in the parking lot!”

    I love that scene.

Some people in this state want to put this guy in a position of legislating the laws of the Nation? Al Franken would make as much of a mockery of Minnesota as Jesse (the body) Ventura has.

Wow, I never knew that Franken was such a promising candidate. He has so easily adopted the standard Clinton defense: Faced with two possible explanations for his conduct– crimnality or incompetence– he pleads incompetence every time. Of course, that should not qualify him for high office, unless he’s a Democrat.

And the pattern is at four, not two.

    1. Decides not to pay Payroll Taxes
    2. Decides not to pay Disability
    3. Decides not to pay Workers Comp
    4. Decides not to ignore Corporate Income Taxes

This millionaire has made a career out of bitching about hard working people not paying enough to the Government. When faced with gas prices that are nearing $3.50/gal here in MN, Franken wants to increase gas taxes to push the price up even further.

    We get the bill.

And all this time Franken just ignores his tax obligations.

    “Do as I say. . .”

Four strikes and your out Al. (We’ll give you that because we believe in MN nice. You’ll learn about that when you’ve lived here for a while).

Harvard grad knows nothing about nothin’ going on in his own one man bid’ness. Did he suffer some sort of brain injury while doing the failed radio show?

Go ahead libs. Vote for this smacktard. Let us all how inept you have all become by showing that you think this clown is a great representation of Minnesota. What next? An unemployable, anger prown, socialist, tax dodging mime who moved here last month from Sweden?
