NEW ARTICLE ABOUT FRANKEN’S BUSINESS PROBLEMS TOP STORY ON STAR TRIBUNE WEBSITE

By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 25, 2008

This new story about Al Franken’s business problems is getting front page coverage on the Star Tribune’s website. I’m curious to see where the story is placed in tomorrow’s newspaper.

This post also appears on Blogs for Norm!, an online community and blog covering the 2008 U.S. Senate campaign in Minnesota. The primary goal of Blogs for Norm! is to organize bloggers who support U.S. Senator Norm Coleman.

I suppose it’s just coincidental that the Strib fails to mention the party affiliation of the State’s Attorney General who shrugs his shoulders and gives tax cheats a pass with this gem:

“I’m guessing most people have something [similar] in their life, where they forgot to pay their property taxes or workers’ comp.”

Yep, in Mike Freeman’s eyes, MOST people simply forget to do trivial things like pay their property taxes, and he’s now declared that to be of no concern to him as Attorney General.

Way to go, Mike. You’ve really done yourself and your state proud in defense of this buffoon.

Michael, can’t play to day – but don’t worry buffoons like Surly, will continue to get their facts wrong.

“Facts are stupid things.” Uncle Ronnie said it, bootlickers live it….

First off, WTF were you attempting to say with that gibberish? Seriously, another cup of coffee may be in order before you start posting.

Secondly, posting direct quotes is now getting facts wrong?

Mike Freeman and State’s Attorney General.

Do try to keep up, won’t you?

Angry Al is toast. Watch for Ceresi to jump back in.

    Say, Chet?

Michael took pictures of all the VIP’s at yesterday’s GOP Press Conference; link here for a photo of the VIPest of the VIP’s!!!

Sorry TwoPutt, I got my DFL law enforcement officials who don’t care much for enforcing the law confused. Thanks for pointing out my error.

Now I’m just pissed that I don’t live in Hennepin County, where property taxes and workers comp are optional.

Tommy, you’re fatter and more ridiculous looking that I would have imagined.

“Franken’s campaign said he relies on his accountant for his business and tax dealings. The accountant, Allen Chanzis, is a partner in Wlodinguer Erk & Chanzis, a New York City firm that specializes in the music, film and TV industries.”

Where does Monifa Benison… the one who allegedly filed the bogus, unsigned, unsubstantiated, error riddled “dissolution” letter… fit in to the picture?

  10. Walter Says:

    Surly:

Just a warning the property taxes are run by a unit called Taxpayers Services. They are very good about making sure you get your property taxes paid!

  11. Chestnut Says:

“Franken’s campaign has put off media requests for interviews with the candidate.”

The campaign has shifted to “head in the sand” mode.

    Very, very, very bad….

  12. Walter Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 9:45 AM

And lets remember this important fact about eightputt Tommy:

    * After I laid out the case that shows George Bush didn’t cheat to win Florida Tommy quit!

    * After I asked countless times for Tommy to show just one good qualification for Al Franken he quit.

Tommy is a quitter! Tommy is a quitter!

    Aspiring actress?

    Client of Chanzis?

Maybe this whole thing is a piece of ill-conceived performance art!

“DFL State Party Chairman Brian Melendez said… “Coleman and the Republicans desperately want Minnesotans to forget about their disastrous record — a failed war in Iraq and a struggling economy that is failing middle-class Americans.”

DFL State Party Chairman Brian Melendez desperately wants Minnesotans to forget that Democrats overwhelmingly voted for the same Iraq war, where incredible progress has been made, and that Democrats have accomplished nothing on any issue in the past 2 years since taking control of congress.

Melendez desperately wants Minnesotans to believe that adding a corrupt, dishonest and toxic partisan like Franken will somehow improve representation of their needs in Washington.

    Bullshit.

  15. surly Says:

    Walter:

    No, no, no!

“Everybody else does it” and “I forgot it was illegal” are now acceptable defenses when facing the HENNEPIN COUNTY (nod to TwoPutt) Attorney’s office.

  16. Chet Says:

  18. Swiftee Says:

Chet, that’s not a fishing hat on dolt. That’s the boonie hat he wore while patrolling behind enemy lines with John “There I was” Kerry.

In his own cartoon bubble, the dolt is a certified war hero.

Since Democrats took control of congress, gasoline prices have gone up over $1.25 per gallon, unemployment has increased, the economy drifted toward recession and grocery prices have sky-rocketed…

  22. Yoni Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:08 PM

Since Democrats took control of congress, gasoline prices have gone up over $1.25 per gallon,

quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard, blame it on the dems! ha ha ha.

are you in a bubble chestnut? sense when did the democrats control oil production? have you heard of a thing called OPEC?

  23. Pete Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:23 PM

Yoni, Don’t forget that in 2006 Nancy Pelosi said the Democrats “have a plan” for dealing with high oil prices. I guess that plan was to increase the price of oil huh? Either that or her dog ate the plan…

  24. Pete Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:25 PM

Nice picture of comrade puddles. I’m printing it and putting it on the fridge. Looking at that everytime I go there should help me lose weight fast!!

  25. Frank Alan Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:31 PM

Seriously. The democrats are responsible for gas prices? Last time I checked, the price of a barrel of oil has increased from $25 a barrel on the first day of the Iraq conflict in 2003 to a current price of around $115 a barrel.

How, preytell, did the democrats make that happen? Maybe we shouldn’t have killed all the people who knew how to get the oil out from under their own country.

  26. Chestnut Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:39 PM

“Since when did the democrats control oil production?”

Since Democrats outlawed extracting U.S. oil assets from the Calif. and Gulf coast. Since Democrats steered our entire energy policy to dependence on OPEC in the 1970s… and Since Democrats continue to strangle our energy policy by refusing to allow the U.S. to increase domestic production and/or expand use of clean, proven alternatives.

High gas and food prices are ALL THE DIRECT RESULT of liberal policies. Thank your local Democrat for continuing to destroy our economy.

  27. Chestnut Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:42 PM

Frank Alan, your still here? Thanks for bringing your unique brand of stupidity to the pages.

“The democrats are responsible for gas prices?”

Yes. See a high level view of how Democrats have driven the cost of energy through the roof as outlined in comment #26.

“Last time I checked, the price of a barrel of oil has increased from $25 a barrel on the first day of the Iraq conflict in 2003 to a current price of around $115 a barrel.”

So you admit that the war isn’t “for oil”… good for you. By the way, Iraq didn’t provide any substantial portion of our supply at that time. And they still don’t. The Iraq war has NOTHING to do with the price of oil.

“How, preytell, did the democrats make that happen?”

Again, see the high-level points in comment #26.

You’re one stupid S.O.B. Frank Alan. Democrats are directly responsible for high energy prices. Now their preferred bio fuels “solution” is directly resulting in global starvation.

Good job liberals. The only thing Democrat solutions lead to is death and opression.

  28. Chestnut Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 1:45 PM

And by the way, Al Franken won’t help to solve any of the the problems Democrats dropped on our doorsteps.

First, he’s a dumb fucking liberal lunatic. Second, he can’t even manage to fix his own personal problems. He’s the last jackass we need piling on.

  29. Swiftee Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 2:16 PM

“How, preytell, did the democrats make that happen?”

When the Democrats took control of Congress, Al Queda gained a valuable ally in it’s war on democracy.

While Islamic terrorists had no chance against our troops in a heads-up confrontation, it didn’t take long before world oil markets realized that our guys were suddenly fighting a two front war.

As Al Queda’s chances of victory improved (the day that Nancy Pelosi got her clammy paws on the Speakers gavel), the stability of the worlds supply of oil has declined…hence $4.00 a gallon gasoline.

  30. Chestnut Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 2:19 PM

    Hey Swiftee,
Pelosi doesn’t have “clammy paws” … she has “dum-o-RAT claws.”

  31. Pete Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 9:22 PM

Swiftee & Chestnut – Excellent response to that idiot. I just don’t understand why liberals just don’t get it, their policies always seem to give aid and comfort to the enemy.

  32. Yoni Says:
    April 26th, 2008 at 11:28 PM

    swiftee and chestnut,

I’ve listened to quite a bunch of ludicrous shit come out of your mouths, but this is too much. How do you explain the oil companies making record profits each quarter? are you going to tell me that liberals control big oil too. if that is your next argument you guys have seriously went off the deep end.

there isn’t shit for oil off the california coast, in ANWR, or in no dakota. its not comparable to the amount of oil in the mideast. that is why its not being drilled for, and because the oil companies (ran by democrats i guess?) are fine with $4.00 a gallon gas.

If i was paid to blog I would run a couple searches on lexus nexus to prove what I am saying, but in all honestly its not worth it. you guys are crazy.

back to the story at hand, Franken is toast, him and his campaign fucked up, the stuff he did was minuscule compared to some of the stunts this administration has pulled, but they should have cleared it up before he decided to run.

but dems are not responsible for the cost of oil.

  33. Chestnut Says:
    April 27th, 2008 at 6:56 AM

No, I don’t say that at all. Democrats don’t work for a living, so running an oil company would be too much for their tiny brains. And besides, the government makes more money from a gallon of gas than the oil companies do.

Democrat-driven policies to restrict the supply of oil is the biggest contributor to the energy crisis. You’re alone in your assumption that those areas “don’t have shit” for oil…. AND THE ONLY REASON THAT THAT OIL ISN’T BEING RECOVERED IS BECAUSE DEMOCRATS HAVE BANNED IT.

Starting in the 1970s, Democrats began heavily restricting this country’s ability to tap it’s own oil reserves. Even recently, DEMOCRATS outlawed more of California’s coast to oil recover. DEMOCRATS blocked oil recovery in U.S. waters in the Gulf of Mexico. DEMOCRATS block development of oil in ANWAR.

There are no economic reasons why those assets aren’t being developed and recovered, ONLY DEMOCRAT policies.

We’re not crazy, we’re informed. I suggest you run your Lexis search. You’ll find a long history of DEMOCRAT obstruction to energy production.

Sorry, Yoni, Democrats ARE responsible for much of the U.S. dependence on foreign oil… They’re the root cause of our energy problems.

  34. Walter Says:
    April 27th, 2008 at 1:46 PM

When talking about the price of gasoline lets not forget:

    * Extra gasoline taxes Democrats want

    * The cost of enviornment regulations including over 50 different types of gasoline so if one state has a hiccup you can’t rush gasoline from other areas because they don’t have the right fuel type.

    * A lack of lawsuit reform which caused manufactures of chemicals needed for cleaner fuel to stop producing the product which helped increase the price of gasoline.

    * And the Democrats ignored President Bush’s rational plan in 2001 to increase oil production. Just think Bush was right in 2001 and we’re paying the price because the Democrats didn’t want to listen. No wonder why they want to blame the oil companies.
