ONCE AGAIN, FRANKEN TRIES THE OLD “BAIT AND SWITCH†TRICK TO DISTRACT FROM BUSINESS PROBLEMS
By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 27, 2008
Al Franken is trying to distract the public from the growing problems with his corporation’s failure to file income tax returns for 5 years in California, by shifting the attention to his personal income taxes:
“Speaking Sunday at a campaign event on renewable energy, Franken said his accountant is investigating whether any mistakes were made, and whether he and his wife owe more taxes.
‘Bottom line of this is that Frannie and I always paid fed and state income tax on all our income, so we are going through that we are working on that as we speak,’ Franken said.” Source: MPR, April 27, 2008

The reality is that we don’t know if Franken paid federal and state taxes on his income. But I don’t believe anyone has made the charge that Franken didn’t pay his income taxes.
It is interesting to note that Team Franken didn’t answer if Franken paid any taxes on income from California:
“On Friday, Franken’s campaign manager, Andy Barr, declined to say whether Franken had paid taxes on earnings in California between 2003 and 2007.” Source: Star Tribune, April 25, 2008

We do know that Franken’s corporation didn’t pay withholding taxes:
“Alan Franken Inc. appears in New York records one other time, when it failed to pay withholding taxes for July 1996. A lien against the corporation was filed in Nassau County in June 1997 for $2,948.30, and the case was closed a short time later, said Tom Bergin, a spokesman with the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.” Source: Star Tribune, March 4, 2008

We also know that Franken’s corporation didn’t file income tax returns for 5 years in California:
“Democratic Senate candidate Al Franken’s personal corporation didn’t file corporate income tax returns in California from 2003 to 2007.
A spokesman for the California Franchise Tax Board said the corporation, Alan Franken Inc. (AFI), owes a minimum of $800 per year as well as penalties and interest to the state of California.†Source: Associated Press/Star Tribune, April 16, 2008

The focus is on Franken’s corporation, which has paid him millions over the last few years, not his personal income taxes.

So, he admitted to the fact that his people haven’t always kept the best records, that they are looking into it, and that they will make any restitution necessary.
Will anything short of hara kiri broadcast live on Saturday Night Live from the steps of the U.S. Capitol suffice for him taking responsibility for his actions?

Frank Alan,
Only because I am more polite than Chestnut…READ WHAT YOU WRITE!!!
“So, he admitted to the fact that his people haven’t always kept the best records….” you say in the first paragraph.
“Will anything short of hara kiri broadcast live on Saturday Night Live from the steps of the U.S. Capitol suffice for him taking responsibility for his actions?” you write in the second paragraph.
DUDE! HE IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY EVEN IN YOUR OWN POST!!!! HE IS BLAMING IT ON THE PEOPLE WHO HE CLAIMS HAVEN’T KEPT THE BEST RECORDS!!!
Whew…sorry, man, but at least I did’t swear.

Is the CFO of Franken’s company one of the individuals who have kept sloppy records, and guided his company to break withholding and tax laws in New York and California?
If anyone is accountable isn’t the Chief Financial Officer? … who is the CFO of AFI, you ask?
Answer: Al Franken.

Does MDE-IRS believe that there are more people out there that are not paying their fair share of taxes?
Is MDE-IRS indirectly/directly stating that the states/USA needs MORE & BETTER AUDITORS?

So, you all are in favor of jobs, as long as democrats don’t create them?
That is an interesting position to hold. Al Franken has done what literally tens of thousands of small businesses around the country have done. They hire accounting professionals to handle the business side of doing what they do. And the guy Franken hired apparently was not as on top of things as he should be. Norm Coleman would never understand this fact, because he has never drawn a check that wasn’t taxpayer funded. But for the rest of us who understand the struggles of small business, if anything, this kerfuffle has endeared him to a generation of small business owners who believe government regulations are becoming too difficult to track.

It is amazing watching this; Ron Carey clearly and repeatedly saying “We don’t know” and then the lemmings “Al Franken DID…”
And now the lemmings are claiming tax rules are so simple any moron can follow ‘em.
I guess all these years in the majority shows that the republiCons actually did their job – all fat has been trimmed from government, and all regulations are now simple and easy and taxpayer friendly….

Given the incredable obtuseness displayed here, I’m wondering of Frank Alan (dolt#2) isn’t in fact Angry Al’s bumbling accountant.
He certainly has shown himself up to the job.
Say, dolt #1? Andy Barr is still waiting for you to arrive and help Al ‘man up’.

Say, NotSoSwiftly? The bartender said you shouldn’t spend so much time in the can, and STOP TAPPIN’ YOUR TOES. Next time, they’re callin’ the cops on ya.
Oh – and ya still need to clear up your bounced check….

Puddles, that line is old! Everyone here is aware you have been in hiding since you ticked me off and I offered to meet you at the VFW.
I could not find one person who would say you were a good guy or that your politics were what they agreed with. Why the young lady working the bar told me you are a big mouth she figured would get tagged sooner or later.
I also think you mean YOU would be calling the cops puddles, I hear you have 911 on speed dial since you went into hiding.
So when you are feeling brave again, then maybe give Swiftee some grief, in the mean time, go lay by your dish until I tell you otherwise.

little stones, you’re that pimply teenager the bouncer keeps catchin’, tryin’ to sneak in.
I heard about you; hangin’ ’round the outdoors smokin’ tables, pullin’ butts outa the ashtrays….

I love how tough Kahuna pretends to be on this blog.
I mean, seriously. Since he knows no one takes anything away from his posts because they are so over the top insane, he has to resort to thinly veiled threats of violence against any who disagree with him.
I truly feel sorry for you, Kahuna. You try so hard to fit in here, but in the end of the day, you just don’t have the brains to keep up.

It’s also pretty funny to watch Frank Alan pretend to have skills for reason. A blind pig may still find an acorn, and a broken watch may be correct twice a day, but both of those have a better record than Frank Alan.

Mike, how do you claim the money you’re paid to blog? Is it on a 1099? Are you a contractor with the MNGOP and your candidates, or are you a subcontractor to their vendors to keep your name off FEC reports? What is the source of the income anyway? When are you going to disclose where YOU have been doing business?
April 28th, 2008 at 1:07 PM
Franky, really the problem started with puddles and his tough guy act.
Tommy once told me to meet him at the VFW and come lick his jumpboots. Well I went and he has been hiding since.
So now I will pick on him relentlessly.
He is after all a liberal idiot with a big axe to grind.
You on the other hand Franky, you are just plain nuts and obviously work for the Franken campaign. There is no mistaking that Franken can do no wrong in your eyes as proven in the insane posts you try to come up with to explain Franken’s actions and troubles. Kind of cute in a way.
Also kind of cute you have the need to try and come here to post in favor of Franken when you must know you will be shot down completely.

“When are you going to disclose where YOU have been doing business?”
Heh. Looks like the Sockpuppets at MiniMoneytor are getting nervous about a pending disclosure headed their way!
Hahahaha!
