MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “REPUBLICAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA STATEMENT ON AL FRANKEN’S ADMISSION THAT BROKE TAX LAWS IN 17 STATES”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 29, 2008

St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today issued the following statement regarding Al Franken’s admission that broke tax laws in 17 different states.

“Al Franken’s admission that he has violated laws in 17 different states since 2003 is only the beginning of this story. As a CEO who is responsible for the conduct of his corporation, Al Franken must come forward and fully explain to the public the nature and extent of these problems. We do not yet know if there are similar violations in other states, or if he has similar problems with workers’ compensation laws or other applicable laws in the country. A story that began in New York with his failure to abide by the law, took root in California and has now spread across the nation like a wildfire. Al Franken’s business activities must have a full, and complete public airing if he is to retain any credibility as a candidate for public office.”
