NY GOP PRESS RELEASE: “AL FRANKEN, TAX ACCOUNTANT MUST FULLY DISCLOSE THE TRUTH ON FAILURE TO FILE TAX RETURNS CLAIMS”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 29, 2008

ALBANY, NY (04/29/2008) — Last month, political candidate Al Franken was required to pay over $25,000 in penalties to New York State for failing to make workers compensation insurance and disability insurance payments for his employees in Al Franken Incorporated.

Recent reports that Al Franken Incorporated, the company Al Franken founded in New York in 1991, has not filed corporate income returns in the State of California from 2003-2007 raises new questions about his business dealings.

According to media reports, the Franken Campaign and Al Franken have attempted to lay the blame for his business mistakes at the feet of a New York tax accountant who cannot be reached for comment. Mr. Franken’s failure to take responsibility for his company’s tax irregularities raises questions that, absent full and complete disclosure, will continue to reflect negatively upon is ability to hold public office.

Hopefully, this accountant will come forward to clarify the situation and put an end to what is now a growing string of questionable cross-country business activities related to Mr. Franken. Source: NY GOP, April 29, 2008

    WOW!!!

republiCon Ron didn’t want to answer any questions about MN GOP Shoddy Paperwork, or Laurie’s California troubles, so ya got the NY GOP to do the dirty deed?

One o’ these days, Norm’s gonna have to ‘fess up on the Blo and Go, Michael.

Franken just fessed up and is paying $70,000 in tax. He apparently paid it all to NY so he’ll be paying $70,000 to various states and then amending his NY returns to get credit for taxes paid to other states. In the end, it all becomes a wash but instead of one state tax return, he’s got to have 17 and the $70,000 he previously paid will get reallocated among 18 states.

I guess now it is Norm’s turn to fess up.

Say, dolt#1? You need to get your research to NBC right away!

It’s funny. Really funny, really… because his account doesn’t have to come forward with anything. It’s pretty obvious they already knew that Franken was going to go public with the information… so why not put a press release together that makes it look like the GOP is responsible for them going public with it?

    Crafty pricks. :-)

Angry Al would be all over any CEO who did exactly the same thing.

I mostly believe his story that he didn’t know.
The average person can’t possibly understand all the arcane tax laws. Which is exactly why we need to scrap this system and go to a sales tac only.
