Perhaps May Day Baskets and May Pole Dances were dropped from the elementary school curriculum to make room for military recruiters giving demonstrations on flag etiquette preparing them for the realities of life in secondary school when military recruiters will have access to their names, or their school district will loose federal funds.

NCLB = No Child Left Behind (An equal opportunity recruiter)

Perhaps to make up for Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Tim Pawlenty, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Norm Coleman (who was too skinny to pass his draft physical) Bill O’Reilly, Al Franken, the Bush twins, and a few others.

Walter;
Americans hire accountants everyday to take care of their finances and the paperwork.
You pay them to be knowledgeable in the workings of federal tax law and the different tax laws in the fifty states, so you don’t have to be.
Do you review your accountant’s work?
I’m willing to bet most Minnesotans don’t.
Most of us just sign the form and file it away.
You do know that accountants carry malpractice insurance for a reason (no lecture on tort reform) don’t you?
Outside of the Senate form, Ron, Michael or Norm have yet to produce a document that has Al Franken’s signature on it as proof that Al had any knowledge of what his accountant was doing.
Al’s not throwing his accountant under the bus, the accountant’s malpractice did.

The problems with a lawsuit against Al’s accountant are first, the damages are minimal, and second, the accountant may have done nothing wrong.

I think most accountants would have handled the tax matter the same way Al’s original accountant did. I think it’s very possible that the subsequent review has found an issue that’s not really there.

You know if he has been told to say no comment it’s because of one of three reasons:

One, Franken is asking for confidentiallity to try to protect himself from more damage

Two, his firm is afraid of losing business and has instructed him not to say.

Three, Franken’s rational course of action is since he is blaming the accountant to protect himself is going to sue and the accountant who has talke dto a lawyer is trying to protect himself.

No matter which scenario it’s not good.

I bet there ate a lot of republicans out there who have cashed his checks that are hoping no one notices that he has donated tens of thousands of tax-free dollars to the party over the years.
