POLL SHOCK: OVER 50% OF MINNESOTANS THINK FRANKEN SHOULD DROP OUT OF U.S. SENATE RACE

By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 4, 2008

According to a new poll from KSTP/Survey USA released tonight, 51% of Minnesotans think Al Franken should end his campaign for the U.S. Senate.

34% of Democrats, 58% of Independents, and 78% of Republicans answered that Franken should withdraw from the U.S. Senate race.

This poll is devastating news for Team Franken.

This post also appears on Blogs for Norm!, an online community and blog covering the 2008 U.S. Senate campaign in Minnesota. The primary goal of Blogs for Norm! is to organize bloggers who support U.S. Senator Norm Coleman.

    Holy buckets!

This is a huge shock. I bet this poll will push any hesitant DFL’ers into the Senate race.

    Franken may be irreparably damaged.

    Keep the fight, MDE.

61%, 62% and 54% of the South, West and Northeast respectively believe Franken should withdraw.

    Great post, Michael!

Well, of COURSE 78% of GOPers want Franken out; they want ol’ Smokescreen to win and with Franken in it, that ain’t gonna happen.

    Franken is f’d.

We had all better hope that Al Franken still walks away with the DFL nomination in June. Otherwise, there is absolutely no reason to vote for Norm Coleman in the fall. Coleman and his campaign have made that abundantly clear.

Where was the question about how many Minnesotans believe Norm Coleman should drop out due to his track record of incompetence?

Oh, wait. Stan Hubbard would never ask a pointed question that didn’t favor a republican.

  8. Chestnut Says:

One would have to believe your bullshit that Coleman has such a track record.

Seriously Frank, that’s a good test for you. Point to something your candidate has accomplished. Anything. Why should anyone vote for a tax dodging failure like Al Franken?

I like Norm. He’s accomplished quite a bit on behalf of this state. He gets along well with folks on both sides of the aisle in D.C., and locally, he led major revitalization efforts in Saint Paul.

As a Senator, he’s investigated the massive waste of time and money we devote to the U.N., and he’s helped to drive greater accountability and efficiency in government overall.

Again, I challenge you or any other Franken supporter to point to one accomplishment that idiot can be proud of? Don’t we have enough socialist, isolationist, irresponsible Democrat pricks in Congress?

Chestnut, since when to Conservatives hate isolationism??!?

    What???

  11. walter hanson Says:

    Frank:

One, Norm hasn’t put his taxes in a state wide news story. If Norm had done this that you wouldn’t have not only seen the poll sooner, but all the liberal media would’ve been saying Coleman should resign.

And two, Norm isn’t incompetent. It’s in your imaganation. The proof is Franken is a walking poster for what incompetence is and you don’t seem to want to attack Franken for incompetence.

It’s obvious that you don’t know what incompetent is.

It is clear that Minnesotans aren’t as stupid as Al Franken seems to think they are. They also aren’t as stupid as HE is!

Don’t mess around with heartland people – we aren’t nearly as clueless as the leftists think we are!

I am a heartland person, and a Democratic Farmer-Laborer. Sometimes it seems that RIGHTIES are “more than less clueless.”

That probably gets into the concept of numbers less than zero. That is not usually a stretch for heartland people because of the weather and the type of thermometers that we use.
