Yoni:

Why are you blindly defending Mark Ritchie?

I used the link that a defender of Ritchie used saying that Ritchie wasn't using the Declaration of Independence to raise funds.

(see link on post #4)

You get Mark Ritchie's website.

On the bottum of that website is contribute button.

In effect using the Declaration of Independence gets people to the website and see the contriubute button.

In effect it helps him raise money.

In effect he is using the Declaration of Indepence to Raise money.

No ifs ands or buts.

Nobody should be defending Ritchie on this. Instead you attack me and Michael for point this out.

HC DFL:

It's nice the document is coming, but that still doesn't give him the right to use it to raise money.

Yup. I got one of those too. I haven't read the comments above but just to be clear, this went out to the same e-mail addresses that he was caught on earlier this year for misusing. Mark's a nice guy but why does he still invite scrutany to his office by sending to these people?

Hey, wasn't there supposed to be some HUGE revolt over that housekeeping error in last year's transportation bill? I recall it was going to unravel the entire bill when it came up again. I also seem to recall a similar number of inane posts about that non-issue here awhile back. Where's the follow-up to that howler Brodkorb?

"This guy has no shame." Oh my goodness...

How dare this man send an email to people tells them about a near once in a lifetime chance! Especially not when that email contains a link to his website (like any campaign email would) that contains a link to a contribute page (like any campaign website would).

Seriously Michael? Some of the items about Ritchie you've posted have had some merit, but this is bad even by your standards.

Good god, Brodkorb, does the GOP pay you by the post or what? Are there no minimum content requirements? Why do you care whether Ritchie spends his campaign money sending out emails about the Declaration of Independence? Why should the GOP care? Why should anyone care? Is there one cent of taxpayer money involved here? Go get a real job. Maybe in comedy. This one's a real laugher.

At what point do repeated unethical behavior and misuse of his office by Richie rise to a criminal or impeachable offense?

MBB: "This guy has no shame."
----------------------------------
Michael B. Brodkorb (MBB) then [turns around and] plays the "shame" game by putting Senator David Senjem's letter to Senator Larry Pogemiller, out on a blog just a few hours later!

It seems to me that perhaps Mark Richie & Michael Brodkorb (M&M) could be two peas in a pod that just might have selective-type shame!?!?

[more info]

Read ye, read ye.

There is opportunity to view a copy of the Declaration of Independence.

Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration.

There were between 150 and 200 copies printed in the print shop of John Dunlap the night of July 4, 1776.

I believe that you may have an opportunity of seeing one of these types of copies, however, I do not know for sure.

Perhaps MBB/MDE-IRS will kindly supply that kind of information.

If the letter came from his campaign, why wouldn't it include a link for contributions. I also can't see why the campaign shouldn't highlight something the candidate was a part of...

Sorry, I gotta side with the other guys on this one Michael. If this had come from his official state email, I'd take a different view... but you said the campaign sent out an email with a link for campaign contributions.

I don't see the problem.

If the letter came from his campaign, why wouldn’t it include a link for contributions. I also can’t see why the campaign shouldn’t highlight something the candidate was a part of…

Sorry, I gotta side with the other guys on this one Michael. If this had come from his official state email, I’d take a different view… but you said the campaign sent out an email with a link for campaign contributions.

I don’t see the problem.

If this letter were being paid for by the taxpayers, you would have something to complain about. But, since it is being paid for by Mark Ritchie for Secretary of State, he can put whatever the hell he wants in the letter.

Polinaut is reporting that Pawlenty will be attending the SOS event with the Declaration of Independence. Obviously he's figured out it's "FREE" and doesn't feel the need to contribute.

The e-mail contained a link to Ritchie’s campaign website, which provides an opportunity for people to contribute to his campaign committee. I don't see a reason why Ritchie's campaign committee needed to send out an e-mail. But it did provide Ritchie with an opportunity to raise some money.
