FRANKEN WON’T DISCLOSE EMPLOYMEMT STATUS OF ACCOUNTANT THAT HE CLAIMED DIDN’T “UNDERSTAND THE LAW”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 10, 2008
I find it interesting that Al Franken won’t disclose the employment status of the accountant that he claimed didn’t “understand the law“.
“Franken recently revealed that his accountant made an error causing Franken to overpay his income taxes in Minnesota and New York. However, taxes had no been paid in 17 other states where Franken gave speeches.
He has since paid the back taxes, with penalties and interest.
‘I’m sorry, but this isn’t a scandal,’ he said.
While declining to comment on the employment status of that accountant, Franken did say he now has new accountants.” Source: West Central Tribune, May 9, 2008

It’s a simple question.

According to Wikipedia a SCANDAL is a widely publicized incident that involves allegations of wrongdoings, disgraces, or moral outrage.
A SCANDAL may be based on reality, a product of false allegations, or a mixture of both.

Anyone who goes by Wikipedia is an idiot. If a student of mine (if I were a teacher) ever used it as a source I’d fail them.
Dictionary.com calls a “Scandal”:
1. a disgraceful or discreditable action, circumstance, etc. – CHECK.
2. an offense caused by a fault or misdeed. – CHECK.
3. damage to reputation; public disgrace. – CHECK.
4. defamatory talk; malicious gossip. – CHECK (blaming the accountant)
5. a person whose conduct brings disgrace or offense. – CHECK.
Angry Al’s lack of ability to pay workers compensation, fines and taxes fits all of these. No matter how badly he wants this to not be a scandal and to go away, it IS one and he’s going to have to deal with it.

Say, Teacher?
As long as yer lookin’ stuff up, go check out “hypocrite.”
Rumor has it, http://www.dictionary.com is gonna put republiCon Ron’s picture next to their definition.
@ Michael: I was beginnin’ to feel a little guilty about pilin’ on, on republiCon Ron.
Thans for removin’ that guilt!!!
Did ya check out the Sack cartoon, in today’s Strib?

Teacher. Hmmm…sounds good. You clearly need one.
As to putting pictures in the dictionary, Angry Al’s going to have his own section of photos. Angry, hateful, mean, clown, hypocrite, criminal, tax cheat, one who shirks responsibility of paying workers comp, one who says he’s for the little guy but refuses to cover them as required by law – and a whole bevy of others.

No. I’m one of the couple hundred thousand conservatives who have canceled our subscription over the years because they’re deaf to balanced news coverage. Now that they’re failing as a business maybe now they’ll listen to their readers (but I’m not holding out any hope – like all liberals they’d rather die than offer fair coverage.)

average – there’s an old saying: keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
When you don’t read the strib, you don’t know what the other side is saying.
Independents know what the liberals are saying, and what they’re saying makes a lot more sense than the head-in-the-sand types (like you).
While Franken may well be a tax-cheat, Carey demonstrates the whole state Republican party is lead by a cheater.

average joe: “Anyone who goes by Wikipedia is an idiot.”

Relax, average joe.
Perhaps you assumed that I was finished. I wasn’t. It was 3:05 a.m. in the morning. The cultural event was good.
Study diligently, and perhaps you will attain a status similar to an above average joe.
[Even in Lake Wobegon, the children are above average.]

Twoputt, nobody cares what the Red Stars DFL cartoonist Sad Sack has to say.

“When you don’t read the strib, you don’t know what the other side is saying.”
ABC, NBC, CBS, WCCO, NY Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, CNN. These are just a few of the ways to get the biased news coverage that the Strib considers revolutionary. And several of them are free, with simple ownership of a TV being the only requirement to gain access.

Using diffferent language, perhaps Franken’s not a plight, a problem, or a predicament. Perhaps he’s just in what some homespun prairie folks might call – a pickle.

“I find it interesting that Al Franken won’t disclose the employment status…”
Say, Michael?
I find it interesting that Ron Carey won’t disclose the audit status he promised last year.
Why do you suppose Carey won’t disclose?

Michael, I think you should take on TPT as a co-blogger. He clearly needs more attention than he can garner at his site. It would be sad to see such a talent wasted. Do it for the children.
